Rainy Day
Written by Tiffany
She slipped our from under the furs, her skin shivered
from the cold air. It felt like being pricked by knives. She quickly,
but quietly, walked to the front of her den and out into the bitter
cold air. It wrapped around he bare flesh like an ice blanket.
Softmoon padded down the rock path, making a soft patter sound when
the bottom of her feet hit the rock.
Softmoon made her way down then up the other rock path,
seeking out a den that she regularly visited. She made it there
and peeked her head in. The hawk that was perched near the entrance
ruffled its feathers and tilted his head to look at the visitor.
Shh She said placing her finger to her lip as a motion to tell
the hawk to keep quiet. Softmoon sneaked around to the other side
of the furs where there was a spot for her. She carefully lifted
the soft furs and slid in, cuddling up to the warm body and wrapping
her arms and legs over the top and tucking her head to the exposed chest.
Hawksinger gasped at the feeling of cold flesh against his body.
Her flesh slowly began to warm up from the heat of his body. He
lifted his head just slightly so he could see the form that clasped
around him. He raised an eyebrow when he found out it was Softmoon.
He whispered quietly, What are you doing here? I thought you were
with L His word was cut short when a soft finger was placed over
his lips.
Shh Softmoon said in a mellifluous voice with a finger pressed
against his mouth. I was with him. Now I am with you. She looked
up at him with a smile. Her smile could make anyone forget what they
were saying or doing. Besides, I couldnt get to sleep in there.
So be quiet and go back to sleep. Softmoon laid her head back
against his smooth chest and closed her eyes.
Oh Hawksinger said. All he could do was smile and obey. He
closed his eyes again and placed a hand on her silken white wavy
hair as she cuddled up even closer. He fell back asleep almost
instantly and now so did Softmoon.
Hawksinger shifted his body so Softmoon would be more comfortable
then he returned her smile. Hello, did you ever get to sleep?
Yup, Softmoon said as she placed her hands in his hair on either
side of his face. I would of slept longer but we had a surprise
visitor She smiled teasingly then looked outside of Hawksingers den.
What? Hawksingers gaze followed Softmoons and he peered
outside his den. It was raining. He smiled and looked back at
Softmoon as she turned her head back to Hawksinger. This is a good day.
Softmoon giggled and leaned forward to give Hawksinger a kiss.
Then lets not waste it just sitting right here in the furs.
Lets get up and out of bed. She sat up and grabbed his arm,
pulling him up with her.
Nope. Close though. Try one more time. Softmoon traced the
figure lightly on Hawksingers back. They were laying down looking
out at the entrance of the den, watching the rain and entertaining
themselves.
Hawksinger tried to picture the image Softmoon was drawing. He
couldnt get a clear vision of what was being traced. Uh a coyote?
Softmoon sighed teasing him. Your hopeless. How does this She
traced it again as she spoke, Look like a fox or coyote? It is
supposed to be a dune with the sun rising up behind it. She rolled
her eyes and giggled. Your skin is so soft She ran her fingers
over his back again.
Alright, my turn. Hawksinger said and sat up.
Softmoon smiled and laid down, pulling up her shirt so her back
was expose then rested her head against her arms and closed her eyes.
Hawksinger placed his finger against her back and another up to
his mouth, thinking of what to draw.
Whats taking you so long? Softmoon asked after several moments
of sitting there waiting.
Im thinking! Hawksinger replied. Ah! I have one that I dont
think youll ever get. He cleared his throat and began tracing.
Is it a shellback? Softmoon guessed before he was even finished
tracing it. She turned her head around her shoulder to look at his
face to see his reaction, whether she was right or wrong.
Damn it! How do you always get it so darn fast!? Hawksinger said
and pulled her shirt back down then joined her laying down on the
rock, stretching his body. You never loose at this game. Sometimes
I think you just change your drawing when you know I have it right.
He said teasing her.
Softmoon grabbed his arm and began tracing it. No, I dont change
my pictures. You just dont know how to guess the right answer.
Look, she traced the picture again on his arm.
Hawksinger rolled his eyes, Shut your mouth. That was his subtle
way of denying who was right, just tell her to shut her mouth.
But I want to keep it O-P-E-N Softmoon opened her mouth wide when
she said the word open, as a joke. She opened and closed her mouth
like a fish, making a popping noise every time they opened back up,
and leaned in closer to Hawksingers face. She got her face up close
enough where her lips touched his and continued to open and close
them like a fish, brushing them up and down his mouth.
Hawksinger broke contact and lowered his head to his arms, laughing.
Softmoon giggled. What? You dont like fishes? She said with a
smile and tucked her face in the spot between his head, neck
and shoulder. Hello? Her voice was muffled from sticking her
head in the hole where Hawksinger tucked his head. Is anyone
in there? Softmoon poked her finger into Hawksingers armpit
then continued to poke at his ribs and soft stomach.
Ah!! Hawksinger immediately lifted his head and curled his body
up to protect his stomach and ribs. I give! I give! He said
while laughing.
Good. Softmoon said, seizing her tickling and gave Hawksinger
a kiss, then opened and closed her mouth again like a fish,
getting another laugh out of Hawksinger. She sat up and jumped
onto Hawksingers back, sitting on his butt with a leg on either
side. She leaned forward and rested her head on his.
What should we do know?
Softmoon thought for a moment, Lets go out into the rain. Itll
be fun. She stood up and went to the front of Hawksinger,
grabbing his arm and pulling him with a smile.
Hawksinger laughed again and reluctantly stood up, Alright.
Beat you there! He took off at a dash outside the den, laughing
as he ran down to the bathing pool and jumped in with his clothes on.
No you dont! Softmoon yelled and reached out to grab his arm
to slow him down, but failed. She followed after him, laughing as
the rain hit her face.
Your clothes are soaked! Softmoon said as they made it to the
den and sat on the furs. She laughed and wrung out her own.
So are yours. Hawksinger said with a sigh, catching his breath
he laid back against the furs.
Yeah, but yours more so. Here, let me take care of that Softmoon
whispered to him with a sly smile and she began pulling off his
wrist bands, then his shirt.
Hawksinger welcomed Softmoons sly ways. He never understood why
someone like her would want to spend time with someone like him.
She was beautiful and kind, never having a foul moment. It was
pleasant to be near her since she treated everyone with kindness
and equally. Her wavy white hair surrounded her creamy pale tan
skin and added to her exquisiteness. She was flawless in every way.
But he on the other hand was far from perfect. He wasnt anywhere
near as good looking as the other males, he was weak and thin.
There wasnt anything special about him like most of the others,
yet Softmoon spent almost her whole time with him since they
were kits. They had been best of friends since they were born
and barely inseparable.
Softmoon continued to undress Hawksinger and threw his wet clothes
to the floor. They made a splat sound as they hit the rock and
that made Softmoon laugh with a bubbly giggle. She leaned over
and kissed him, smiling when he took her shirt off and threw it
to the floor with another splat.
If you keep on laughing it will be next to impossible to
kiss you. Hawksinger told her with a corner of his mouth in a
half smirk. He ran his soft hands over her skin and traced her
a picture on her back.
A heart? She read his expression and knew she was right
and shrugged. Sorry. She said with another laugh and kissed
him while pulling down his pants.
Hawksinger looked at her with a raised eyebrow, wanting to hear
what she was getting at.
Softmoon continued. And I was wondering if you would accept
my soul name. She continued talking to explain herself before
he rejected. I want to be close to you. I do, I love you and I
want to be as close to you as possible. If you knew my soul
name then we would be closer then we have ever been. But if
you dont want to accept it then I am fine with what we have.
She looked back down at her finger still on his chest.
Hawksinger sat silent for a few moments, thinking about what
she had said. He felt the same way, for a long time now. He was
too afraid to mention it because he was afraid of being rejected
and loosing his only friend. He grabbed her chin and lifted it
to look into her pale gray eyes. I would like to offer you my
soul name as well. Ive been wanting to do this for awhile now
but I was afraid of you saying no and then leaving me alone.
He smiled at her and chuckled.
Softmoon smiled and leaned up to kiss him. I would never do
that silly. She paused. Are you ready? She said pressing
her forehead to his.
Hawksinger nodded with a smile on his face.
She took in a deep breath and smiled as well. **(Alright. I am
Enyu)** She closed her eyes waiting to see what his reaction
would be to it.
**(Salk)** Hawksinger said and hugged Softmoon tighter. Now
he knew everything Softmoon was or will be Enyu. It made him
happier then anything ever would and he showed his happiness
now without fear or restraint. Around Softmoon he let his
barriers down, sent his guards off on a break and just enjoyed
the happiness he always felt radiate off of her. He let every
emotion run hot through his blood when he was close to her, and
he did it willingly without a fight. Now he was closer to her
then he ever thought possible, **(I love you to Enyu)** What
a way to spend a rainy day, isnt it? He picked up a piece of
clothing that had remained clung to the bed and threw it, creating
the plopping noise once more. Softmoon melted into his arms,
laughing uncontrollably again and smiling brighter then she had
ever smiled before.
Softmoon stirred restlessly in her furs, accidentally
bumping into the figure beside her. She raised her head and
gazed at the male strewn across her furs, making sure her
inability to sleep was not affecting him. Her suspicions were
answered when she heard Lexis slow, deep breathing. He was still
asleep. Softmoon sat up from the furs after removing his arm from
atop of her.

Hawksinger awoke that morning to Softmoons clear light gray eyes
and a smile on her face. She was leaning over him with an arm on
his other side. Once he had awoken Softmoon laid her upper body
against his chest with her hands under her chin, still smiling
as always. Good morning sleepy head. She lifted an arm and
fluffed up Hawksingers hair then smoothed it down.

Uhm a fox? Hawksinger asked, trying to guess the figure
Softmoon was tracing onto his back with her finger.

It was almost dark now as Hawksinger and Softmoon returned from
their romp in the rain. They were holding each other by the waist
and laughing hysterically.
~+~
Softmoon laid cuddled up against Hawksinger and wrapped with
furs, sharing with him. She traced a heart on his silky chest,
mimicking the picture he drew earlier. Hawksinger? She
continued to looked at her finger tracing his chest for a few more
moments then looked up to meet his eyes. Weve been friends
for as long as I can remember. You are best thing that has ever
happened to me and I love you. Not in a life mate or soul mate
kind of way, but like best friends that share something more
then the normal friendship She paused to see his reaction to this.
