| We draw lines everyday, lines between the religious and the non-religious, between the Jew and Arab, between holy and not holy, between you and me, between I am this and your are that. With the shifting of the sands and the blowing of desert winds, self-drawn lines often blur. To be able to hear yourself between the bombs and the bullets is often difficult. Sand Lines is about recognizing your voice, and claiming it as your own. Sand Lines presents a creative forum where it does not matter what you call yourself, but rather what you have to say. Sand Lines is about finding the common ground. When we gain the ability to see beyond lines to what's on the other side, we gain perspective. Perceptive is the key to understanding. When we attempt to not only see each other, but to really listen, we begin to understand. When we understand each other, we no longer need desert winds to blur the lines. Sand Lines advocates Healing Words. Israel is a country torn, on all levels. Whether a child losing their parents or a child losing their home, there is pain. Unfortunately, there are not many emotional outlets available. In addition, the English speaking community within Israel has a very limited means to express themselves. There are not any English radio stations or English television shows dealing with Israeli life on a day-to-day basis (with the exception of the daily 15 minute news cast). Sand Lines is putting forward another option. Take what you're feeling and put it to words. Allow yourself the clarity and healing that comes with writing. |
