Where the Ducks Have Gone (A Thinly Borrowed Metaphor) -3/17/05 The world, so dizz’ying, spins around my head And ne’er will slow, no matter how I cry: “Just one more moment thus and I’ll be dead!” My fingers slip as desp’rately they try To cling to manes of running horses brown That race to see just who will win and die. Each man must grasp the golden ring or drown In all this frenzied carousel’s mad verse And whispered chorus sung: “We all fall down.” But some there are who stand outside and terse They cry, “Let go and stop this deathly run!” I loose my grip, from night to day traverse And see in bluest skies the Shining One. Who knew that golden ring was not the Sun?
