| IS HALT/HART possible? We believe it is. As stated, American's share the same dreams and ideals. We all fundamentally believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If we all share the same ideals, then why do we seem to have so many problems? There are many long and complicated answers to this question. The short answer is that the media and its pundits have become divisive, our politicians no longer work together, and that all trickles down to the average citizen to where we have become like them- divisive, angry, and stubborn. When was the last time you heard honest debate between the right and left? When was the last time Michael Moore or Bill O'Rielly had a conversation not a screaming match? This country has become stagnant with ideas. Partisan divide has crippled our great nation. It is time that the common people, people like you and I, take back America! Millions of Americans want this. Everyone the creators of this site talk too want an honest debate, is sick of the partisan rethoric, and culture divide it has caused. | How do we go about bridging the divide? People today talk about issues that they know will divide people- religion, abortion, gay marriage, etc. While these issues are important and should be dealt with,it would make more sense to deal with the issues that can be resolved easily before dealing with divisive issues. In order to go about handling divisive issues, we must first build an atmosphere of respect, trust, and understanding. In doing so we will help close the divide between left and right. If we only handle the divisive and partisan issues, we will never build the trust, respect, and understanding nessarcy to tackle such issues as abortion or gay marriage. Only through working together can we close the gap between us and begin to really make positive change in America. For specific ways to go about doing this, please click here. |
