SANCHITA , still very young , has already made a deep inroad in
modern Bengali music , specially in its folk variety. Having undergone training
since the tender age of five under a galaxy of gurus , notably , Sri Sukumar Kumar
, Smt. Gopa Sen and Sri Anal Chattopadhyaya , and being gifted with a voice that
reflects unusual natural talent , Sanchita made quite a sensation with her first
Bengali folk cassettee " Tomake Chai Ami " (1994 ) that brought the instant
attention of media , leading to further release of two equally popular numbers , "
Sujanre " by the leading Bengali cassette company " Kiran Cassette
 (1995 ) and " Monta Kemon Kare " by " T - Series ". She received the "
Uttam Kumar / Promotesh Borua " award for her performance in
"Sujanre" and was selected as the best folk singer of Bengal for 1995 . It
is at this time that she got close to Runa Laila , the legendary folk singer
from Bangladesh - an association that has only grown from time to time
and has helped Sanchita in consolidating her hold on Bengali folk
songs . Needless to say she has the honour today to give stage
performance with her troop all over the country . In recent years ,
Sanchita had a few more memorable numbers like " Amar gan " by
Metro Pictures International , Mumbai (1997 ) , " O Naiya Re " by J.M.D.
Sounds (1997 ) , " Chari Jwani Chappan Chury " by Venus Records (
2000 ) and last but not the least , the remake cassette of Bengali Modern
Songs " Surer Mayay " by Raga music .
