| Desktop Design: Assignment #1 - Students will produce a certificate of appreciation for someone they know. Certificate must have the following elements. a) Bold and italic type. b) must be made to industry standards. c)must include a signature line and a date line. d)must have a clip art or hand made art. Assignment #2 - Students will produce a company logo using Adobe Illustrator. All students are encouraged to produce their logo from scratch. Keep in mind the elements of design: line, form and mass. Principles of design: balance, rhythm and proportion. Assignment #3 - Students will utilize Adobe Photoshop to enhance their digital photograph. Each student will assemble a collection of photos using layers in the Photoshop application. The learner will construct a studio quality portrait of themselves. The project will be evaluated by peers. Assignment #4 - Students will construct an industry standard logo. Complete stationery with business card, letterhead, envelope and notepad. Each student will create their own business logo and print out a copy of their work for their porfolio. Assignment #5 - Students will create a photograph using Digital Cameras. This photo will be transferred to Adobe Photoshop, where the students are do duplicate the photo and come up with the following photos. 1) A Halloween "horror" photo of yourself complete with a monsterous background. 2) Astudio qualifty photograph - using the image controls, such as color balance, lighting, flares, filters ect... 3) A combination of 3 photos to produce one. Your name must be added to this photo, using the typing tool. 4) Place your photo in an object, such as a wine glass, balloon, billboard, newpaper page... ect... This picture must blend in with the surrounding scenery.. All of these require Adobe Photoshop, with the final product being done in Adobe Illustrator 8.0... All photos will be transferred to this software for final print.. Assignment #6 - CD Album Cover. Students will design and produce a CD Front and back cover. Software to be used is Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Internet Explorer. Student will import photographs of their choice using the Mavica FD-83 Digital cameras, Scanners, and/or the internet, to create a fictional or real CD Cover. This cover should consist of 5 layers, a front and a back cover with measurements of 4"x4". Evaluation of the cd cover will be done using the elements of design, and the principles of design. CD cover should be to industry standards and in good taste. Digital Graphics & Animation: Assignment #1 - Students will produce an illusion with 2 photographs, using Adobe Photoshop. The photos will be at the sample area of Photoshop. After completion of the project, the student will have an understanding of how the software enhances photographs. Assignment #2 - Students will create a state-of-the-art Resume. Using Adobe Pagemaker as the Layout application, Adobe photoshop as the photo application and Adobe illustrator as the drawing and illustrating application. All of the Adobe softwares will be used for this project. It will require the following criteria: a)A photo enhanced with photoshop, b) A written resume of qualifications, accomplishments, awards, job experiences, hobbies, interests, technical training, three references and a 5 year plan. All of these elements will be created in a brochure format, with innovative and creative designs within the brochure. This will be a real, working resume that can be used to seek employment. Assignment #3 - TLW be able to convert ideas into paper. Using several ideas on a logo design, make 3 thumbnail sketches to be later produced into an innovative logo. Each design must have a visible concept of what the company is about. Use the KISS rule, but be creative. Keep IT Short & Simple to start out with..later we will get into complex design. Assignment #4 - The learner will manufacture a product logo using Adobe Illustrator and Vector Effects 1.5. The project will consist of innovative computerized art designed by the student. The design must match the original thumbnail sketch previously produce by each student. The top 3 designs will be displayed on our website for the whole world to see. The criteria for evaluation will be student driven and selections will be made by the evaluating committee elected by the students. Assignment #5 - The beginning stages of storyboarding. Students will brainstorm on ideas to be used for a fictional character or object that will move in 6 frames. These frames must have a background, complete with moving objects. The storyboard must have instructions at the bottom of the frame to relate to the animator what the frames should be doing. Upon competion of the 6 frames. TLW be able to start a 6 frame animation using Macromedia flash and Director 8. These frames must have a somekind of sequence or story behind them.. Assignment #6 - This is a continuation of assignment #5. This project will consist of 150 Frames, 3 layers and original artwork. Students may use clip art in ONE layer ONLY. The rest must be created by the student. Assignment will require sound, or voice recordings in at least 50 of the frames. Software to use is Macromedia Flash, Director 8 and Adobe Illustrator Assignment #7 - 3 Tutorials on 3D Studio Max to start learning the interface and software. |
