CCAE Minutes

November 15, 2006

Members Present:  Charlotte Crandall, Kimberlee Prokopij, Karen Castille, Susan Dela Cruz, Annette Beck, Nikki Amaro, Mary Fitzgerald, Lorrie Christie, Carmen Zapata, Glenda Lopez, Ingrid Cardenas, Brenda Rivas, Frances Armenta, Judy Judilla, Claudia Zaragoza

I.                   Call to Order: 

Meeting was called to order at 2:37 p.m. by President, Teresa Loftis.

II.                Approval of Minutes:

Lorrie Christie made a motion to approve the minutes as posted on the CCAE website.  The motion was seconded by Susan Dela Cruz.  Motion was passed.

III.             Treasurer’s Report:

Savings Account balance:                $3612.15

Checking Account balance:             $2095.63

IV.              Committee Reports:

(a)    Mary Fitzgerald reported that we still have 72active members.

(b)   Annette Beck and Frances Armenta reported on the See’s Candy sales.  All See’s Candy orders are due by Monday, November 27th.  We will accept checks from staff only.  Two Thanksgiving baskets will be raffled on Friday, November 17th, at 10:30.  CCAE would like to thank everyone for their food donations for the baskets.  Also, we still have a lot of the See’s suckers and we would like your help to sell. 

(c)    Karen Castille reported that GED students were made aware of the GED scholarships and we had 4 students apply in one hour.  A decision will be made this week for scholarships.   

(d)   Annette Beck reported that Brenda Rivas and Teresa Loftis received awards from our chapter.  If anyone would like to recommend someone from our chapter for the state awards you will need to turn in your nomination by 1/22/07.  If you would like to nominate someone for the life membership award you can see Annette Beck for requirements. The monthly award winners were Yolanda Larios for classified and Kitsy Anderson

V.           Old Business:   

(a)    Section conference:  we made $3500 from the Southern Section conference.  38 people attended from the Southern Section.

 (b)   Southern Section update: Teresa mentioned that the State Conference will be in Fresno and will take place on May 3rd to the 5th.  The cost will be $265 per person.  The call for presenters will be going out soon.  The State meeting will be February 3rd and the Section meeting will be on February 10th.  We will not be attending Leg. Day this year because of WASC.

VI.        New Business:

(a) Mary Fitzgerald: the holiday party is scheduled for December 1st.  We are going to have finger foods, bingo, a gingerbread house contest, and dictionary.

(b) Teresa Loftis made a motion to pay for the Southern Section website.  We pay $8.95 for 12 months ($107.40 per year).  The motion was approved to pay the amount.

                   (c) Opportunity drawing winner was Mary Fitzgerald and she won $10
