| Mildred Couper was the only Santa Barbaran among the first session Music Academy faculty, was a charter member of the Santa Barbara Music Society, and a long-time supporter of the arts. In addition to teaching piano, she was also a recognized composer and transcriber of music. She frequently offered the use of her Italianate villa, "Monteverde," for chamber concerts. Mildred Couper taught at the Music Academy of the West from 1947 through 1951. |
