"AIKIDO"

A martial art, a discipline, and an effective means to develop mental and physical abilities.

Developed by Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido is a newer martial art. The main purpose of Aikido is to build a strong mind, body, and spirit. It helps students learn to live in harmony with themselves and others.

WHAT IS AIKIDO??

Aikido is a martial art, but it also places major focus on harmony, peace, and love. It emphasizes self-improvement.

Aikido has no tournaments, competitions, contests, or "sparring". Techniques are learned in a cooperative setting that takes every individual at their own pace and their own level of development.

The goal of Aikido is not to defeat others, but to confidently defeat one's own negative personal habits and personal characteristics.

AIKIDO TRAINING

Good manners and respect are expected when you enter the dojo. It is proper to bow when entering and leaving and also when stepping on and off the mat.

Students are able to advance in Aikido trough regular attendance and practice. They are encouraged to practice at least twice a week.

The student is responsible for attending regularly, to give full attention when present, and to put real and honest effort into each session.

The student will be instructed in the proper movements, techniques, and applications of Aikido, and encouraged to use Aikido as a way of developing self-discipline, respect and personal well-being.
