Match Report 2 for 22 v Ahktars Aces 2 for 22 opened up their 1st semester campaign with a comfortable victory over a lacklustre Ahktars Aces squad that looked like they hadn't learnt much from their rookie season. Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first on what looked like a good batting wicket(looked a lot like last years pitch actually). The Aces got off to a good start with their opening partnership racking up 35 off the first 4 overs due largely to early season nerves on the bowlers part. 2 for 22 knuckled down in the next partnership and with some good fielding restricted the total to 58 off 8 overs. The last 4 overs were always going to be crucial to the Aces setting a good total but it wasn't to be their day as the last 2 batters crumbled to -13 off their last 4 overs including -20 off the last 2 overs bowled by Ward and Smith for a total of 45. 2 for 22 set about their target in controlled fashion knowing that a solid batting effort was all that was needed to get the team off to a winning start. The openers did just what was needed of them and got the team off to a safe start reaching 30 from their 4 overs with Roxburgh notching up a solid 12 runs despit an early dismissal. The middle partnership of Young and Ward then proceded to step things up a notch with an undefeated partnership of 41. This momentum continued into the last partnership with Smith and King notching another undefeated effort of 40 runs. The end result of this controlled batting was a 111 run total and a 66 run victory that gets 2 for 22 off to the start that they were looking for.
