THOUGHTS:
February 12. 2003 -
Patrick Nagel, amazing graphic artist etc.  I love his art work, which is a lot similar to Japanese woob block prints.  The Flatness and simplisitt of the illustrations- genius!
November 27, 2002
- Just remembered another sighting--Killer 7, a video game coming to the GameCube tentatively in winter 2003. The graphics in this game is so cool, so flat, so simple and yet complex somehow!
November 22, 2002 -
There really has been a significant decline in my producing Flat-art.  Just to record other FlatOgraphy sightings, I'd like to mention the Toyota Matrix commercial, Lugz's shoes commercial, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City art for the Playstation2.  All these different styles have influenced the way I will develope future portraits and although I am admittedly really jealous, I am glad to get inspiration and influence from these artists.
November 4, 2002-
Starting with Fran, all portraits will now be illustrated using Adobe Illustrator.  It is unfortunate, or fortunate, that I didn't listen to John G.H. earlier.  Yes, he warned me that I  would'nt be able to enlarge these easily after doing the portraits using Photoshop, but even so, I did learn a whole mess of techniques, commands, etc by practicing with Photoshop.  There's still a lot to learn (of course!), but let's learn with Illustrator now.  Maybe it's better to colaborate with the two programs!

September 5, 2002-
I'm looking back at my older works, comparing, and I see a great amount of change in the later pieces.  I'm much more happier with the new style, which is also easier, and I guess once I've found something greater, I can never go back to what I once thought was the zenith of greatness. That doesnt mean that I am embarrassed of my old work tho, because Im proud of seeing the things Ive learned through each portrait.  I am so happy to see that I've evolved and am happy to be able to provide myself and others a history of FLATOGRAPHY!

August 27, 2002-
You'd think I'd be able to do each of these portraits faster as I gain more experience, but the truth is I'm actually paying more attention to detail, design and colors, ect...

August 2, 2002-
The later pieces seem to be getting more elaborate as I am finding it easier to do the portraits themselves.  I've been paying a lot of attention to colors and patterns wherever I'm at and whatever I'm doing.  I suck a lot at colors and patterns, but I'm learning a bit each day. Another thing I just want to mention is how I determine which portrait was done when.  I count the day/month in which I started each and not so much of when I stop altering them because for me art is never finished and always needs modifying.

July 22, 2002-
This is art, all the same.  Even though the method of doing these portraits are basically tracing, there are aesthetics that make art art.  Such elements include composition, color, and seeing things in abstract ways to see them in their simplistic nature.  I hope to gain more insight on color usage and composition as I continue with this style, and to also be able to do some amazing stuff found in the movie Waking Life and artist Rebecca Antoniou.
