Holly relics
There are great many
holly relics in Samtavro, e.g. a holly relic of vivifying column, Holly Mother
Virgin's miracle-working icon of Iberia bou
ght
from the Holly Mount Athon., there is a script on the icon "the Holly
Iberia'sMonastery of the Georgians, 1919 A.D.", St. Nino's miracle-working
icon (with 21 holly relics) donated by the grandson's son of Giorgi XII from
St Petersburg in 1870, also graves of Holly King Mirian 
and
Holly Queen Nana, relics of St. Abibo from Nekresy, an Assyrian Father (buried
below the altar's trapeze), holly relics of skull of St. Shio Mghvimeli (St.
Shio From Cave), a piece of St. Nino's grave stone from Bodbe, etc.
St. Nino's Nunnery has centuries old history. There prayed "Great religious figure, and priest for Georgia, prominent healer" St. Nino, by whose praying arisen the holly "Svetitskhoveli"(vivifying column), where is rested the Savor's Celt knitted by Holly Mother Virgin and adored by all Georgians.
Currently there are different reconstruction works
held in Samtavro. It is difficult to complete the work because of lack of
finances. Nothing is remained from King Mirian's "Paradise Garden".
The Nunnery as well as its suburbs needs to be
cared.
Donation to churches and monasteries is a great
patriotic action. The Evangel retells us about a widow dropping two coins
(all she had) into a donation box and gained the God's mercy. In "Life
of John and Ekvtime of Holly Mount" we can read how St. John built a
Lavra by the help of authorities, "I hereby built this Lavra by the help
and donation of those . . ." "Due to their greatest donations since
the breakstone I hereby built Lavra" (M. Sabinin). Holly Bible says that
King Solomon despite his greatest welfare (gifted by the God) and heritage
of his father King David, called for whole Israel to built a temple to God
as wisdom King thought "Who am I to dare build a temple to God? ".
He gifted his welfare to the temple . . . and once the temple was completed
the whole Israel celebrated.
