We have loved the Great Dane breed for as long as we can remember. We were fortunate enough to find our Samson just days after putting our previous best friend "Lucie" to rest. After grieving the loss, we searched the Internet to find out more information about our dream breed the Great Dane. How lucky we felt to learn that not only the Great Danes wonderful with children, but when bred correctly, there were so many "pure" beautiful colors to choose from. The pictures that we have seen on the Internet, took our breath away. They look so strong and bold. That was the breed we chose for sure. Then, the search began. Little did we know that our Samson was only a 2 hour drive away. We set out with the intention of coming home with our beautiful black female. When we arrived, we entered the pen, and to our suprise, we were greeted by the most beautiful black and brindle puppies you have ever seen. After about 30 minutes of sitting on the ground and trying to play with ALL the puppies, Tom made the decision. He sat there holding a black pup that looked so comfortable and secure within his arms. He even nibbled at Tom's ear. That is were the story begins. Samson is a wonderful pet. Our children love him and I know he loves them too. He is protective of them, but not aggresive towards others Samson is a part of our family. He sleeps on the couch, and eats in the kitchen, and he is like another child to us. Day by day, pound by pound, and inch by inch, he teaches us something new. The more that he teaches us the more that we strive to learn. Our search for more information and knowledge grows. The more we learn the more we want to learn. We continue to search everyday for things that will provide us with knowledge of the breed. It has become our goal to do whatever we can to maintain "The Apollo of Dogs". They are not only a beautiful and majestic breed, but loving and sensitive as well. Our love of the breed makes us unwilling to except the use of puppy mills and pet stores for puppy purchase. A responsible buyer needs to be aware of the dangers of unethical practices and breeders. In order to maintain and improve our beloved Great Danes, breeders and buyers need to purchase and breed responsibly. Please visit us again. We will continue to update our site with new links, photo's, and any additions that we add to our family. Samson will not be bred, but you never know what the future will hold for us. Please sign our Guestbook which is located at the top of this page and give us your comments so that we can continue to improve our web site. We would also like to send out a great big Thank You to Gwen of GG-land Great Danes for giving us the continuing education on the Great Dane breed. She is a true friend. Leans and Slobbers to you all,
Tom and Beth |
