Of
Black Holes and Baby Universes
‘Brahma’s one day is our one million
years. His one night is another million years when we remain in hibernation.’ Said the Indian philosopher.
The girl smiled to herself.
‘Look at how we sleep. We die a daily
death when we sleep. When Brahma sleeps the Universe dissolves back into its
cause’ said the Indian philosopher further.
The girl looked pleased.
Then she closed her eyes for a moment.
‘There was a big bang. The Universe
started with a big bang’ said a scientist.
The girl thumped her table. ‘Good’ she
cried jubilantly.
‘The Universe is of the shape of a
foot-ball’ said another scientist. The girl jumped wildly. She could hear the scientist
clearly because she had set all the translating and
amplifying feature.
She took a pin out of her hair.
Another scientist cried, ‘Here, I have
found a Black Hole!’
The girl smiled again.
‘Black Hole is neither black nor a hole.
It emits light’ said Stephen Hawking.
The girl put her torch away in amusement.
Then she suddenly got bored. She put her
straw into the big bowl and sucked away.
The scientists and philosophers laughed
together inside her till their sides ached.
The baby ET girl woke up. She clutched the
ice-cream ball that was her birth day gift.
Her mother came in. ‘How many times have I
told you not to spoil your new ball?’ she asked.
‘Mum, you always ask difficult questions.
I didn’t keep count. Isn’t it my ball? Anyway, I have a question too’ said the
girl.
‘What is it, make it snappy. I don’t have
time’ said the mother.
‘Who is dreaming us?’
