a|wiseguy :Yes.. i was doing a web cast for singapore event. Just for quake3. It was 1v1 event. Only team game was a pickup between swedish team vs 'spore/korea mix team. It was a live web cast

a|wiseguy : Well,..here... quake3 community is smaller than UT, but it is ALOT more polished in terms of players depth, organization, etc. Quake3's player are willing to travel 3000km for an event. Counterstrike and UT's players will not.

IG3-Samxz : You mean, even in US, UT has more players than quake3 ?

a|wiseguy : In raw numbers its real close..... but in quality not anywhere close. For instance, we can orgainze a quake3 tournament and out of 1000 quake3 players...100 would attend for 1000 UT players, maybe 10

a|wiseguy : UT and counterstrike are much more the relaxed players not playing seriously

IG3-Samxz : yep... i though so

a|wiseguy : so, to organize a big UT tournament really has not happened yet as even though they have the pure raw numbers, there are FAR FAR less serious players to make tournaments happen

IG3-Samxz : In indonesia,... there are always Starcraft tournament....... not FPS game's

a|wiseguy : well, we can pretty much answer any question in that area we have been around for a long time and help put together quite a few tournament.  one we did solely by ourselves was lansanity, www.lansanity.com using just promode quake3 very much a success

IG3-Samxz : well do you have any suggestion.. how to make quake3 popular in Indonesia ? is it by making more quake3 tourney ? or what ?

a|wiseguy : no right way, but my advice is cultivate a small core of dedicated gamers around 100 is about right. Dont have to make tournaments right now, but help them setup servers, get connects etc

IG3-Samxz : We have our country's quake3 server already setup

a|wiseguy : my advice: embrace promode...it will be coming out of beta very very soon. 

IG3-Samxz : how about LAN party ?

a|wiseguy : yes, organize one...about one every two months is right go for about 40 people. Mistake people make is trying to get too big. Best to give the impression its popular, then to try and get 300 and only 40 show up. Encourage team games with quake3 get everyone involved. but, there are alot of things that can be done, send me and email at [email protected]

a|wiseguy :  it allows even the worst player to have fun. Rocket arena and clan arena are two seperate (but similar) things
Rocket arena just came out, clan arena has been out for quite a while now

a|wiseguy : OSP supports, CTF, 1v1, clan arena and promode and team deathmatch.Whoa. let me get you a link to THEE quake3 server software. http://www.orangesmoothie.org/beta.html . go there, download the latest beta.. and keep up on the updates!!!!  bookmark that page. Has versions for both NT and linux .Fairly easy to setup, has instructions...just look for the instructions in an older version. If not, just email me the questions

a|wiseguy : 99% of quake3 tournaments both amateur and professional (for money) use it. Ff you use gamespy and scan the servers....most will be osp running in some version. 1v1, team deathmatch, clan arena, ctf, rail only, etc. abuse has worked with the programmer for over 2 years now, nice guy

IG3-Samxz : Are all of you,.... prof quake3 players... familiar each others ? ..... like with makaveli, fatality... and so on.

IG3-Samxz : so... CPL will stick to quake3 as their official game ?

a|wiseguy : no, cpl will also use UT, but they are over a year away from a UT tournament. If it will happen at all. It is scheduled to be used at Frag5, ie october 31st 2001.
