Santa
Monica High School
Advanced
Placement United States History
2003-4
You have selected to take
one of the most difficult courses offered at Santa Monica High School. It is
not that the concepts are extremely difficult, but that there is so much
information to cover before the national examination in May. In order to do
well in this class you need to stay on top, or in front, of your workload. If
you work hard from start to finish you will put yourself in a position to get a
good grade in the class and perform well on the exam.
Be prepared to work hard.
Please recognize that this is a competitive class, and you are expected to
perform.

Basic Food Rules (we have
a vermin problem, and we are in a new room!!!)
I will be using a wide
variety of media (internet, video, movies, my own library) to teach the subject
manner in a more diverse and interesting way. If you ever have a concern or
comment about what your child is being exposed to please do not hesitate to
contact me directly.
Extra Credit will be given
as part of a inter-period team competition. No other extra-credit will be
given. Please do not ask and concentrate on getting your work done on
time!
You can be absent 5 times
and/or tardy 5 times before I begin to dock your grade 10 points per instance.
If you are absent you can
make up missed work if:
At the end of each 6 week
grading period I close the books. If you can get me the work before that date,
and it is adequate, then I will give you partial credit. After the 6 weeks end,
you do not get to turn the work in.
Anything else we will work
out as we go.
Good luck
Mr. Flanders
