Web hosting Also known as Webhosting: Is the business of housing, serving, and maintaining files for one or more Web sites.
Internic (Internet Network Information Center): A collaborative project between AT&T and Network Solutions, Inc.(NSI) supported by the National Science foundation. The project currently offers the following four services to users of the Internet.
InterNic Directory and Databases Services: Online white pages directory and directory of publicly accessible databses managed by AT&T.
Registration Services: Domain name and IP address assignment managed by NSI.
Support Services: Outreach, education, and information services for the Internet community managed by NSI.
Net Scout Services: Online publications that summarize recent happenings of interest to Internet users. Also managed by NSI.
Domain Parking:
To lock the read/write head of a hard disk drive in a safe position so that the disk will not be damaged while moving the drive. Parking the disk is particularly important for portable computers, which are moved frequently. The disk will automatically unpark itself once you turn the power on.
All modern disk drives support automatic head parking, in which the drive automatically parks the head whenever the power is turned off.
