Cambodia's history is harrowing. The Khmer Rouge regime led by Pol Pot, responsible for the deaths of over 1 million Cambodians, was overthrown less than 30 years ago, and the atrocities committed are on show to all. The Killing Fields, Tuol Seng Prison, and the Killing Caves of Battambang are all disturbing reminders of the disgusting Khmer rule.
I took a torch to the bottom of the deep Battambang killing caves, and found the still-clothed bodies of those who had been thrown in. Many were still alive when thrown, and their injuries can be clearly seen. Incredibly upsetting. |
