The president of Lebanon is General Emile Lahoud. He has been the president since October 15, 1998. He is the eleventh president of the Republic of Lebanon. He was born on 12/1/36 in Beirut, Lebanon. He is the son of the late general Jamil Lahoud. He married Andree Amadouny and has three children. His hobbies are reading, music, and watching movies. He likes to swim, and to scuba dive. Lebanon had it's independence on November 22, 1943. The population of Lebanon is 3,766,780 since they took a census on (July 2002). Lebanon's five major cities are Beirut,Tripoli, Saida, Tyr, and Nabatieh. The capital and largest city in Lebanon is Beirut.
