There he went throuh intense training. If couldn't perform the right way, he would have got beaten with his master's wooden stick. He went to the school with plenty of future Hong Kong super-stars like: Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Yuen Woo-Ping, Cory Yuen, Yuen Wah, and a whole lot more(when you watch a HK action or kung fu movie, in the cerdits you'll see a Yuen). Sammo as the oldest in the school, so he was given the title 'Big Brother'. Later on in his training, he would become one of the best seven students in the school. The group was called:'The Seven Little Fortunes'. These were the only seven students who were to perform at fairs, events, and so for. Before he left the school to fulfill the dream of all his brothers(to become a star), in training he broke is ankle. It got really bad that master took him to the hospital.
While in there you con't train or perform, he couldn't to do nothing. He started to eat and felt sorry for himself. When he left the hospital, he had gotten big. That didn't stop him from doing the flips, kicks, rolls, and everything else. When Sammo finally left the school, he went to the movies. His first big break has in the movie called "A Touch of Zen", Sammo played a swords-man. Sammo did some films with Angela Mao, he mostly play a side-kick or the villian. At the same time giving jobs to his former brothers from the school acting roles or stunt-men jobs in his movies. I think the thing that made Sammo was his fight with Bruce Lee in the beginning of 'Enter the Dragon'.
After that, Sammo was getting jobs left and right. Sammo's first film that he directed was 'Iron Fisted MonK'(1977). Later Sammo join the 'Golden Harvest'. Sammo, Yuen Biao, and Lam Ching Ying made a series of very good kung fu films together for 'Golden Harvest'. They made in the period of 1979-1982:'Knockabout', 'Magnificent Butcher', and 'The Prodigal Son'(which all there were a success in the box offices). Sammo then directed half of the movies he stared in. He was in the famous 'Project A' with Jackie and Yuen Biao. He acted and direct the 'Lucky Stars' series. Sammo, Jackie, and Yuen Biao ruled the HK moive world in the 1980's with: 'Prject A', 'Lucky Stars Series', 'Heart of Dragon'(Yuen was action director), 'Wheels on Meals', and 'Dragons Forever'. Also in the 1980's Sammo direct alot of legendary films. Sammo didn't even slow down in the 1990's. He mostly directed though. He did some flims with Jet Li. He did Jet Li's 'Once Upon a Time in China and America'(1996) and stared in 'Kung Fu Clot Master'(1993). He started to work in US films like 'Knock-Off'(1998) and Jackie Chan's 'Mr. Nice Guy(1997). In late 1998, he moved from HK action to a US action TV series called: 'Martial Law'. It debuted on Sep. 26, 1998. The show was cancelled after the end of the 2nd season (I'm a big fan of Sammo and the show, but the story was getting conry). Sammo was kept busy after the show. He stared in the Flying Tiger Crouching Dragon spoof, Flying Dragon Leaping Tiger. He was the action director for Jackie Chan's Highbinders. In his lastest film, he his a ex-cop who trains four teen to fight for justice in The Hidden Enforcers. He is know working on a show simiular to Martial Law for China entitled Special Unit Flying Dragon, co-starring is his son Sammy Hung. Sammo has come from nothing to legendary greatness. Thank you for all the years, Sammo!
