Source: New Line Home Entertainment

After shredding up the box office this last spring, the second film in the projected BLADE trilogy, the simply named BLADE 2, will be hitting the streets in DVD form this August 30 in a Platinum Edition.

That news, coming from New Line Home Entertainment, should hit the ears of BLADE fans sweetly, as it moves the release date up a few days from the originally announced September date. The film, staring Wesley Snipes in his Daywalker role as hunter of vampires, will be sold for $29.95, and will fill one disc while a second disc in the set will pack extensive, if yet to be fully defined, extras.

Now and Again (SCIFI, Sunday, 10am ET)
Few things on TV are more frustrating than an unresolved cliff-hanger, and this final episode of the underrated 1999 fantasy drama is a classic example. Margaret Colin gives an affecting performance as a "widow" who learns that her husband, Michael, did not die in a subway accident yet fails to comprehend that her dashing young protector (a winning Eric Close) is her mate -- scientifically reborn in a new superhuman body. As Michael flees his doctor's (24's Dennis Haysbert) custody to guard his wife, we also witness the escape of the villianous "Eggman" from prison. How would it all have ended? Sadly, we'll never know.

Review of Down:
"Down" - A Review by 'Light House Shines' (Negative, Major Spoilers)

Far too often as of late I have been disappointed by a film I have seen and had to review, like the recent box office hit Spider-Man. Though while Spider-Man was not a horrible film by any means, it certainly did leave quite a lot to be desired. On the other hand the monstrosity that is the film called DOWN leaves huge ugly blistering and festering soars in it's wake of multicrapitude! So being merely disappointed doesn't quite cut it here, seeing as this was once again one of the worst films I have ever seen in my life. Though now that I think about it I have used that term way too often so it has definitely lost of a lot of it's original merits. Still it is not often that I have had to apologize to my friends profusely for dragging them with me to see such an utterly unwatchable, utterly unbelievable piece of refuse! Though that's exactly what I had to do with the abominable film DOWN. A complete waste in every sense of the word!

Especially since I cannot even begin to phantom why on earth anyone would make this film in the first place, let alone agree to star in it. Although in actuality I can very easily see why anyone would want to star in this film and can sum it up in two simple words. Crack and Addict! For why else would two actors who have had major roles in the past want to star in such a lackluster film that will in no way benefit their acting careers. Assuming they even still have them after people see them in this piece of crap!. A low grade Horror film that isn't even a B let alone a C grade horror film as DOWN really scrapes the bottom of the barrel in all sense of the word. Despite the fact that is stars such actors as Eric Thal (Puppet Master) and James Marshall(The guy from Twin Peaks and Gladiator, the Boxing film mind you.)! As well as such well know actors as Ron Perlman ( Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming Hellboy), Dan Hedaya ( Cheers and Clueless) and even Michael Ironside. Who some people rightfully refer to as a poor man's Jack Nicholson. All acting together in a Z grade Horror film about a killer Elevator! Yep that's right folks, the film Down is entirely about a killer elevator in a fictional New York high rise called the Millennium Building. But what's even more ludicrous is the fact that this film is apparently a remake! Which means that the original most likely made some money in it's time while this film will be lucky if it generates enough money for a bus ticket back to loserville! I mean come on I have seen more entertaining things drawn by monkeys at the zoo and they weren't using a paint brush if you know what I mean.

Which brings me to examine or more aptly to dissect the actual plot a little more thoroughly so you can understand just how bad this film actually is. By essentially spoiling one of the films little secret plot points by letting you know the Elevator is killing people because it is controlled by a computer that has actual living brain tissue in it! Though why the computer has brain tissue in it and wants to kill everyone is unclear as we never learn whose brain they used to make the computer in the first place, just that it has a human brain. Which just goes to show you that if you put a human brain in a computer it will only come back to bite you in the ass. As Mr. Ironside's character found out in a most painful manner since he was the one who invented the science behind the brain computer and unleased it upon the Millennium building in the first place seemingly because he could. So it's up to our two faithful elevator repairmen, Thal and Marshall's one dimensional slightly anal retentive characters to save the day...I kid you not, this is the film's actual plot and about as exciting as the movie gets!

Now as you undoubtably know from my above review so far, there are a multitude of reasons why this film should never see the light of day or the dark of a movie theatre. Alas the actual reasons why this film has not been widely released has to do with some of the the film's actual content. Though sadly I am not talking about the abysmal acting and incredibly cheap looking sets or the fact that the film just plain sucks donkey balls! Nope, I am talking about the several innocent at the time comments the film's actors make about failed terrorist attempts and actual well known terrorists whose plans have unfortunately come to pass. As this film mentioned not only the fact that their was an attempted bombing of the WTC several years before the actual bombing took place but went on to make several in bad taste jokes about Bin Laden. All of which a still sensitive American audience wouldn't stand for as some people would surly even find the fact that the film starts with an unaltered or original New York Skyline clearly showing the no longer standing Twin Towers disturbing to say the least. The final nail in the coffin that (hopefully) will prevent this film was ever being shown ever again to anyone! Thus endering the needless and cruel suffering that goes along with this film.

As always if you have any questions or comments about anything that was just written about please feel free to send an email to [email protected] and someone will get back to you just as soon as possible-THANKS!

Star Trek: Nemesis: Trekweb
has posted up the first details of the teaser trailer for the new Trek movie set to hit theatres on the Independence Day weekend. :

"The 1.5 minute trailer begins with a shot of the Romulan Senate. We hear Shinzon say, "In darkness, there is strength." The Enterprise-E is shown, with (I think) Riker saying "I think that we can truly say that we're sailing into the unknown". Worf then says "I recommend extreme caution," accompanied by a shot of a shuttle launch. We see Data activating B-9. Then, Shinzon comes on screen and says, "It is the time we have dreamed of. the Federation will fall before us." The Scimitar (Shinzon's flagship) is shown cloaking. We see a shot of Data and Picard in the Scorpion Fighter, with Data asking "Do you think this is a wise course of action, Sir?" and Picard replying "We're about to find out," as he uses the shuttle's phasers to blast through a bulkhead. The trailer shoots into overdrive at this point, giving us quick glimpses of the Remans, Shinzon, the Scimitar, Picard's jeep chase and rescue, followed by the final shot of the trailer, showing Data in a leap from a devastated Enterprise corridor into the cold of deep space. [One] really cool shot in the trailer involved Picard's jeep jumping off a cliff, soaring through the air and landing in the back of a shuttle craft!"

Star Trek: Nemesis
Word hit the various Trek fan sites this week that Paramount plans to send the "Nemesis" trailer in theaters on July 3rd, the same day of the release of Men in Black II. It won't be "attached" to that Sony film, so you're not guaranteed to see it with that particular movie (though you may), but there's a pretty good chance it's going to appear online sometime in early July as well.

Also of note is the news, via the film's trailer, that Solaris is still scheduled to go up against "Star Trek" on December 13th, after all.
