Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Panto Review
The Stage January 4th 2002.
Cardiff 2001/2002
If the main purpose of the Wicked Queen is to draw loud boos and other disappointing responses from panto audiences then the glamorous Linda Lusardi certainly achieves it in spades at the New Theatre.

In the pacy production directed and choreographed by Paul Madden she is the dominating personality that set on a colourful staging.

As an antidote to this excess of evil, there is the versatile Sam Kane as a most charming Prince, well matched by the engaging Snow White of Lauren Adams their singing providing one of the undoubted highlights.

As the Queens henchmen, Powys and Jones handle their knockabout and patter with laid-back self-assurance, establishing instant rapport with children and adults alike. Vicky Lee-Taylor is a personable and extrovert Sprit of the Mirror, assisted by Sooty and Emma Hignett as Clara Voyant.

Inevitably scene-stealing, the seven miniature men witth their songs and comedy routines are Pate Mandall, Brian Wheeler, John Ghavam, Nicky Reed, Craig Salisbury, Kevin Hudson and Willy Evans.

The Olive Guppy Olivettes, who accompany the six dancers, are making their 26th Annual appearance in Panto at this venue. The fivepiece band is led by musical director Nick Stewart.
