Samizhdat Organza

Ode to a Muse

Mission Statement

Welcome to Samizhdat Organza. We are dedicated to providing a voice for the local artist, thespian, dancer, poet, musician, freethinker and anyone interested in expressing through art. Joseph Campbell states, throughout his insightful examination of culture and society, it is through the poets, philosophers, musicians and artists who are vital in defining and bringing forth the tools we need to make sense of life and for a humane society.

We also invite those who would challenge the status quo and express their dissent. Although our focus is on the arts, we invariably tend to address pressing political issues, viewpoints, controversies and opinions. We provide a vehicle in which these often muted, divergent commentaries and deviations from popular opinion can be voiced. It is not surprising, given how art is inextricably interlaced, so brilliantly, within the human experience that it informs on so many variant perspectives.

Our commitment to all of the community is paramount. There is no shortage of opinions, yet not all opinions are given the opportunity of expression equally.

Equality and diversity are at the foundation of the Samizhdat Organza, providing expression for all regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sex or sexual orientation. Like an exquisite tapestry of myriad tessellations, intertwined colors and patterns, so too is our community and the Samizhdat Organza experience.

Please feel free to express yourself in our forum and let us explore this unbounded curiosity and collective mythological imagination together in the hope of raising consciousness throughout our community.

Please visit some of these intresting & insightful sites below.

Viktor Frankl, an incredible human being, survivor of the Holocaust, who despite everything maintained his humanity and dedicated his life to helping people and educating them about the dangers and potential of man's cruelty to man. An excellent web-site which provides the key elements of Frankl's vision and social exploration.

The Joseph Campbell Foundation is another source of great inspiration and offers a ponderous and delightful panorama of the universe. It conveys a unique perspective on what it means to be a human being in modern times. Both are worth checking out.
