

                 LEVEL CONVERTER FOR V-WING V1.91
                 --------------------------------


     It is now possible to make your own levels for V-Wing. The con-
     verter allows you to incorporate PCX images directly into the 
     game. A world of endless possibilities has opened up to every-
     one. Note that these levels DO work with the ShareWare version
     of V-Wing (ver 1.91).

     Some things to have to be kept in mind when drawing the levels.
     First of all, the pictures are is 640*800, 256 colors. The pal-
     ette is up to you do design, but there are some (a lot) special 
     colors that should be observed. See the color chart below.

     The converter is really simple to operate. When you convert a
     picture into a level, it will ask you three things. The name of 
     the level is the name that appears in the levels menu. The pic-
     ture is the PCX file, and the level is the name of the .lev
     file. They have to be in the same directory, naturally.

     Some hints about constructing levels:
          -do not use big areas of exploding colors
          -do not use big areas of burning colors
          -the 320*400 mode makes everything look a bit flat, so make
           all of your structures a bit too tall; if you are making a
           level exclusively for the 320*200 mode, ingore this.
          -when using water, make sure that the structures below
           water level are either indestructible or those that turn
           into water when destroyed; otherwise you'll have some
           REALLY idiotic effects
          -when creating flammable structures, use the two types of
           burning colors together to create "ruins"
          -turrets do not appear in the following types of terrain:
           burning colors, bases, underwater; keep this in mind
