Han Solo and Chewbacca
This scoundelous duo became reluctant yet effective heroes after crossing paths with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia. Han and Chewie were a great help while rescuing Leia from the Death Star, and when they shot Darth Vader's TIE fighter during the Battle of Yavin. With Vader out of the picture, it allowed Luke to fire the proton torpedoes which destroyed the 1st Death Star. During their careers, both Han and Chewie became highly accomplished members of the Rebel Alliance and fought corageously in the Battle of Endor and the Battle of Hoth.
Han Solo was discharged from the Imperial Navy when his conscience urged him to free Chewbacca from slavery. By doing this, Han owed Chewie a life-debt, and he and Chewie became partners. Piloting the Milennium Falcon (which Han won from Lando Calrissian in a high-stakes sabacc game), they became the best, and fastest pilots in the galaxy. After dumping a cargo of spice, which was owned by Jabba the Hutt, to avoid contact with an Imperial blockade, Jabba put a price on Han's head. Han was then found by Boba Fett, who was ordered by Vader to hunt him down. Han was then frozen in carbonite and delivered by Boba to Jabba as a trophy for his palace. Han was rescued by his friends, and returned to the Rebellion to lead the strike force that would take out the shield generator that was protecting the 2nd Death Star. Han and Chewie's heroic actions were very important in the downfall of the Empire.
