Everlasting Love
Chapter 3
Trent nodded as he started the car. "Do you want me to take you home?" he asked as he glanced over at Julie. Her face was pale and there were dark circles under her eyes.
Julie shook her head, "No, I want to go back to the hospital . . . .I need to be with Carlos."
"I understand," said Trent as he directed the car back to the hospital.
When they got back to the ICU waiting room, they saw Walker and Alex. Julie rushed up to them, thinking that something had happened with Carlos and she hadn't been there. But they quickly settled her fears by saying that there had been no change.
After Julie disappeared into Carlos's room, Alex turned to Trent. "How's she doing?"
Trent shook his head, I don't know, but I think she is barely holding on. She just had a big fight with her father and I know she hasn't rested or eaten anything since she got here."
Alex shook her head as she looked through the window in the wall. Julie was sitting in the chair by Carlos holding his hand.

Two days later there was still no change and except for going home to get clean clothes, Julie had barely left Carlos's side.
"I need you to wake up Carlos, I can't lose you," she said as tears started to stream down her cheeks. She didn't think she still had any tears left.
An hour later, Julie had dozed off before she was awakened by a slight pressure on the hand that was holding Carlos's. Then a loud beeping sound went off. Jumping up, Julie saw Carlos moving his head slightly as a doctor and a couple of nurses rushed in. Julie wasn't even conscious of the fact that Alex and Walker had come into the room and gently lead her out of the room. She stood at the window as she watched the doctor and nurses work on Carlos.
After what felt like hours later, but was actually only fifteen minutes, the doctor came out. Tearing herself away from the window Julie turned to and realized that besides Walker and Alex, Trent and Trivette had joined them.
Turning to the doctor, Julie asked, "What's going on? Is he alright?"
The doctor held up his hands to curb any further questions. "Mr. Sandoval has regained consciousness and has started to breathe on his own."
