The next day Laci, Ashley, Trent, and Carlos went to Laci's apartment to get her things.

"I can't thank you guys enough for helping me out", Laci said, smiling.

She took a deep breath and put her key in the door. When they got inside they saw that Scott had wrecked a lot of her things. What he hadn't wrecked he had already packed for her. She reached down and sadly picked up the broken pieces of a picture frame that was very special to her and tears welled up in her eyes.

Trent walked over to her and gently took the pieces of the picture frame out of her hands and looked at her.

"Come on - let's get your things together and get out of here. You'll feel much better when you are gone from here completely", Trent said.

Laci nodded her head but didn't say a word. She looked up at Trent and smiled as her tears started to fall.

"That's the last of it. We're all loaded up and ready to go", Carlos said.

Ashley went over to her friend and hugged her. "It's time to go now, Laci. You have a whole new life waiting out there for you", Ashley said speaking softly.

Laci took a last look around, stood up straight and tall, and looked at everyone as she smiled again. "Thank you all so much for your support and helping me with everything".

"I'm glad we could help," Trent said smiling at her.

When Laci looked at Trent their eyes met and there was a spark between them and neither one could look away from the other.

They all drove over to Ashley's apartment where Laci planned to stay until she could get a place of her own.

The minute they were inside, Laci knew her life was beginning. She let out a sigh.

"Are you all right?", Trent asked. He was really concerned about all she had been through and he had already started to care about her in a special way.

"I feel better than I have in a long time", Laci said, smiling at Trent.

"Good. I'm glad to hear that", Trent said, smiling back.

That light in his eyes really captured Laci and she hoped she would get to know him better. What happened next took her by surprise - but it was a pleasant surprise.

"If you'd like, maybe we could have dinner sometime," Trent asked, a little bit on the shy side.

"I'd like that - a lot", Laci said, with a bright smile on her face.

"Great! How's Friday at 7?", Trent asked, then he realized he might be asking too soon. "I'm sorry - I didn't mean to...." Trent started to apologize but Laci was already comfortable with Trent.

"That sounds good - I'm looking forward to it," Laci said, still smiling.

"Then I'll see you Friday at 7. I'm looking forward to it too", Trent said.

They were paying so much attention to each other they didn't notice that Ashley and Carlos were staring them at. They were very happy to see the mutual feelings between Trent and Laci.

"It's about time she met a wonderful man like Trent", Ashley whispered to Carlos.

"Yeah, and I have been hoping my best friend would find that special woman someday," Carlos said in a soft low voice.
