Cate Blanchett played the fair Elf, Galadriel, in The Lord of the Rings.

She has won BAFTA and Golden GLobe awards, and also recieved an Oscar nomination for portaying Queen Elizabeth I, so well. She has also won many others such as the AFI award for Best Supporting Actress and the Australian Film Ciritics award.

"I sound ridiculous," says Blanchett, "but one of the reasons I wanted to play Galadriel was for the ears: I've
always wanted pointy ears!" She also said that she loved Tolkien's works and was familer with some of Peter Jackson's other films.

"This film has had a  powerful influence on people for almost fifty years, and to have the opportunity to work on these films has been a privilege, as if we were handing on the torch of our admiration for this book to generations to come."

Cate Blanchett has done a wonderful job of portraying Galadriel, the Lady of Light, and we can't wait to see more of her performances!
