Dirty Pair Flash
Mission 1: Act 1
Great stuff!! I really love this one! DPF1 was one of the first animes I watched and I'm impressed. There are a few more animes I specifically want to check out, but once I've done that, I'm gonna start collecting these, and I'll check out the original Dirty Pair.
Dirty
Pair Flash is a huge OAV series which came from another OAV series called Dirty Pair.
Dirty Pair featured two hot girls who who went by the name 'Lovely Angels'. On Dirty Pair
Flash, Kei and Yuri are the new, younger, more lovable Lovely Angels who took their place.
These two don't really get along too well, but they're great characters. From what I've
seen of the old Dirty Pair, it seems a bit too sci-fi, whilst this one is much more fun.
There's a lot of action, guns and explosions and stuff, and it's got a lot of comedy. It's
funny how Kei and Yuri are always arguing, yet somehow they make quite a good team. I'm
not sure what goes on between them later on in the series, but they seem to be slowly
becoming friends because of the teamwork.
The characters are so lovable, and I think that's one thing an anime needs. Kei is funny, she just won't take no for an answer, and Yuri is just about as cute as they get. Kei has a cool zapper gun thing which she's... not really that good with... and Yuri's got a light sword... but she only seems to cut people's metallic clothes into little pieces with^_^;. They fight well, but they seem to do the maximum possible damage at the same time. On both episodes on Act 1, they destroy at least 1 entire city! The first episode sees them trying to get an important data card to the 3WA headquarters past a team of people who want to get it off them, and it ends up in a total riot.
DPF, like a lot of animes, is set in the future, but the most original part
is that the moon has been broken into pieces scattered across the night sky(kewl), and
people seem to want to get it back together.(Or at least I think they do, one guy says
"The moon... will it ever be in one piece again?")
Apart from a little bit of girlish screaming, the dub is great. Yuri's voice is one of the best in an anime dub I've heard, it suits her so much! Kei's voice can get annoying, but it really suits her loud character. ADV have put a bit of humour into the dub, too. There's a guy who looks like a traditional Japanese man, so they've left the jap writing on his house given him a funny accent.
