April 6th 1999 will always be a special day for me...It's the day I saw Celine Dion live in concert!
The concert started at 7:30pm so my mom and I left the hotel about 5:00pm. We arrived just as a line was forming at the door. A costumed cat from a local radio station was going around hitting people with his tail. Finally at 6:45pm they let us in. As we walked through the door I saw a man selling programs and IMMEDIATELY gave him the $20 for one. Then we went to a souvenir stand where I bought a hat, shirt, change purse, key chain, poster, coin, and postcard set for $110. Struggling to carry my purchases my mom and I got something to drink then went to our seats. Everything was perfect! With my binoculars I could see the stage so close it was like I was down there.
At about 7:45 the opening act came on and I won�t attempt to spell his name!!! The act would have been better if I wasn�t desperate to see Celine, but it was pretty funny. After he left things got really boring. The audience clapped and screamed but nothing happened. We did a few waves.
Finally at 9:00pm the lights went out and Celine (in a gray �dress�) starts singing Let�s Talk About Love. Then she ripped of her skirt to reveal a pants suit and started singing Declaration of Love. Other songs were: Because You Loved Me, The Power Of Love, To Love You More, SISDA, IYA, Immortality, Treat Her Like A Lady, Tell Him, IACBTMN and The Reason. She also sang four of her favorite songs. The only one I recognized was Tears in Heaven�. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She did a lot of talking. She told us that in Hawaii she broke 90 and beat Ren� in golf!! Of course we cheered! She asked if anyone liked golf... When she sang BYLM she asked us to sing the last line with her. It took forever (not that I minded!)... She�d have M�go play the notes and then we�d get ready and�she would imitate Elvis!!!!! She�d say �Thank You very much� or snarl her lips. So we�d all crack up and she�d say �I just had to do that� So we tried again. The next time she complained that we were about to start without her!!!! It was SO funny! Also when she was bending down to pick up some flowers and cards and sign some programs or something, she said �Now why do they make these pants so tight?� Hehe. She also sang LCMM and at the end she disappeared and then reappeared (in a white suit-like outfit) to sing Staying Alive and dance!! She sure can dance!!! Later on she said goodbye and left. The audience just stood up and SCREAMED!!!!
Next a railing similar to the one from Titanic appeared and blue lights started flashing then Celine's back-up singers appeared and suddenly Celine started singing MHWGO� Right before the �You�re here there�s nothing��part she ran to the railing to finish the song. A fan was blowing on her so that her hair would be flying. Of course I ran out of film before the MHWGO dress. Oh well. The night was just SO magical!!!!
And it wasn�t over yet! The River, a local radio station had a Celine after show party!!! One hour of STRICTLY Celine!!! They played: BYLM, WDMHBN, BATB, IACBTMN, TPOL, ABM, MHWGO, and finally, It's so Hard to Say Goodbye. It was the absolutely wonderful!
