The young people you will be writing to attend community schools in Fortaleza run by Fundaçao Erico Mota. Fundaçao Erico Mota (or the Erico Mota Foundation in English) is a charity that works in poor areas of Fortaleza, a city in the North East of Brazil. In these poor areas, called 'favelas', people build their own houses out of any thing they can find. The favelas have few official resources, like schools or health centres, and often children have to work to help their families.

The Foundation has two community schools that teach literacy (reading and writing), information technology, music, dance and sport to the children and adults in the area. We will be teaching Internet skills and Basic English and making email links between people in North Wales and people at the schools in Brazil.

· You can use your youth club's email account or set up your own web based email account

· Write a letter or fill in the 'All about me' form to letter to introduce yourself.

We will take letters and pictures that you've produced to the schools and they will reply by email.

Write an email with your name, email address and where you're from (e.g. Llandudno Junction Youth Club, Bryn Elian High School, Colwyn Bay) with the subject 'cyber pal'. Attach your 'All about me' form and your letter to the email and send it to:

The people you will be writing to don't speak very much English so try and keep the language simple. Photos, drawings, pictures from magazines would help get the message across (NB keep file sizes small so they can easily be downloaded). There are big differences between life here in North Wales and Brazil, so even very simple things like the weather will be interesting.

		How do you spend Christmas and New Year?
What do you do at Easter? (We'll be in Fortaleza around Easter time)
		What's your favourite food?
What do you normally have for dinner?
		What are your hobbies?
