In this series, I yearned to successfully capture the many emotions

expressed in this past year of my life. Inspired by artists working with double

exposures, I hoped to visualize the tension that can sometimes emerge between

my best friend and myself by creating a shadow box of sorts. My own image in

front expresses how I can sometimes feel transparant while my friend looms

over me, confident and strong. Feelings of insecurity along with contentment,

and the fight between emotions are hopefully being portrayed in these images.

Using 35mm black and white film, I printed the male figure on

fiber-based paper while I digitized and transferred my image onto clear

acetate to give the impression of a sandwiched negative, but with a more

3-D effect. This work not only shows my ever-changing assortment of feelings,

but also explores a complicated relationship that I cherish so much.
