placed in and out of the photographs. As a college student, I, on occasion, feel overwhelmed
by my life by the end of the day. Sometimes needing a break to remember who I am and why
I am here, I will find excuses to slow down. This series is meant to inspire that feeling of
relaxation and rejuvenation after a long, complicated day. It is my wish for the audience to
feel as if they were in that place as well, and to feel for the girl as she travels through her
emotions in hopes of a final calm.
by a photographer Man Ray, and one image in particular caught my eye. The Violin of Ingress
is beautiful in both texture and in composition. In the instant I came across it,I
knew that I wanted to set a shot up similar to the way the figure is seated in his photograph of
Ingress. Man Ray has also inspired the grainy texture that gives the appearance of a movie
still while adding depth. I very much enjoy the atmosphere and chaos the grain gives and
tried to incorporate that technique in this work by using high-speed film. As one moves
through the sequence, it is my hope that he/she can come to appreciate the emotions that
weigh heavy on all our shoulders and remember the saying: "It will all come out in the wash."
