This year will always be special for us as it was the inaugural T in the Park at Strathclyde Park near Glasgow. Looking back we had a fantastic line up and great support from all of the artists playing at, what was then, an unheard of event. Many people laughed at our concept of a two-day festival with camping in Scotland and never thought that it would work. Whilst the first year was not a sell out it was certainly successful in that everyone attending the event had a fantastic time and it set the scene for future years, ensuring that the event a major fixture in the music calendar. The King Tut's Tent was a real highlight and on the same day featured Blur, Manic Street Preachers, Pulp and Oasis; all bands who had played at King Tut's and subsequently went on to arena level and beyond. The artist that attracted most interest back stage was a certain Robbie Williams who turned up to hang out at the festival and spent a considerable amount of time playing football with various bands and crew. One of the most pleasing bookings was Oasis, as few people knew who they were at the time we confirmed them but when they took to the stage we had to close the tent because it was so busy, even although it was mid afternoon. At one time Oasis reflected upon this performance being their best ever. Another memorable moment was Cypress Hill being very late on site and having to have a police escort from the airport. They had had such a bad time getting through customs at Heathrow that they were not initially in the mood to play the event and it took some "behind closed doors" persuasion, including paying them up front, before they took to the stage. However, the reshuffling of the line up on the day meant that Cypress Hill and Rage Against The Machine ended up playing back-to-back and this resulted in both artists doing one song together on stage, which was a phenomenal experience for all who saw it. A band called Glass Onion played what was then known as the Caledonia Stage, that stage was renamed the Talent Tent, Glass Onion changed their name to Travis and the rest is history.

This was the first year that we had a sell out on one of the days. The artist that perhaps created most excitement prior to her appearance was Kylie Minogue. Also, when she appeared in the signing tent she had one of the longest queues of the weekend. Noel Gallagher was at the event and joined Paul Weller on stage. Prodigy arguably stole the show. Other highlights lower down the bill that year were The Verve, Ash, Bluetones, Cast and The Delgados. Black Grapes' performance was memorable, with Kermit having broken his ankle earlier in the day but refusing to go to hospital and performed with the rest of the band whilst sitting down on the stage! This was also the first year that a Dance Tent was introduced.

This was the final year at Strathclyde Park and was a complete sell out in advance, with Radiohead being phenomenal closing the Main Stage on Saturday night and Pulp playing a very entertaining set on the Sunday. Some of the highlights across the weekend included Leftfield, LTJ Bukem, Mazzy Star, Super Furry Animals and Prodigy again making a major impact on the Main Stage. Other points of interest were Placebo opening the Main Stage, Keanu Reeves playing with his band Dogstar and turning up via one of the shuttle buses after having a curry in Glasgow the night before! Kula Shaker filling the King Tut's tent at 3pm and Joe Strummer creating his own area in the campsite and generally hanging out for the vibe. When we thanked Radiohead for playing the festival they turned round and thanked us for going into the kitchen at King Tut's and making them soup and baked potatoes when they were playing as a support act and had not been served anything but curled up sandwiches on the rest of the tour.

This was the first year at the new site in Balado with a much larger capacity. We chose the site after investigating a number of options in Scotland. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the local landowners, council, police and residents and "Balado" & Kinross have now well and truly been put on the map for anyone not already familiar with the areas natural beauty. Simultaneously, T in the Park very much became the Scottish Festival with audiences starting to come from throughout the country aided by the excellent transport links to Kinross. The campsite itself has grown from around 2,000 people in 1994 to over 25,0000 effectively the population of a small city decamping to a field near Perth! Musically, highlights were Texas, Spearhead, Jimi Tenor, Travis and Fun Lovin' Criminals making their first of many T in the Park appearances. This was the first year of the Slam Tent, where the Slam boys took over the programming of the Dance Tent, making it a more focused entity in itself. Highlights in the tent included Daft Punk, Green Velvet, Death in Vegas, Andy Weatherall and Nightmares in Wax. Bands early in the King Tut's Tent included Stereophonics and Mogwai.

The year of the World Cup final saw the advent of a large screen at T in the Park, where fans could watch France's surprising victory, however, the activity on the stages was of more interest to most. Robbie Williams stole the show with his first official appearance at the event, but other names included Prodigy, Pulp, Beastie Boys, Ian Brown, Portishead, another Australian soap star, Natalie Imbruglia, A Tribe Called Quest, Idlewild and appearances again from Travis and Stereophonics. Fans saw two complete extremes in weather with the Saturday being scorching hot and the Sunday seeing rain for most of the day, however, when Pulp played Common People it certainly lifted everyone's spirits for the finale.

Backstage a furor was caused by the appearance of Robert Carlisle and a posse of photographers and journalists seemed to be constantly following him around, but on the stages the interest revolved around the likes of Blur, Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers, Massive Attack, James, Placebo, Travis, Happy Mondays, Gomez, Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Fat Boy Slim, Faithless, Fun Lovin' Criminals and some of the acts lower down on the bill included a very colourful and dramatic performance from Basement Jaxx and acts such as Doves and Muse. The Manic Street Preachers, during what was a memorable and exciting set, thanked King Tut's from the Main Stage for being the first venue that give them hot food on tour.

This was the year Travis closed the event and a chapter of the ultimate success story - having played the first event without a record deal then going on to subsequently headline the Main Stage. Moby's appearance was breathtaking being booked to headline Stage 2 and ultimately closing the Main Stage. There was strength and depth across all of the stages with an until recently unknown guy opening the Main Stage called David Gray, who by July last year had already started becoming a household name. Iggy Pop rocked the Main Stage preceded by the young pretenders to his crown - the very lively and impressive Idlewild. In the Slam Tent, in addition to Leftfield and Death In Vegas, there were the unique introduction of the four deck challenges of Carl Cox and Jim Morrison vs. Slam, and DJ Sneak and Gene Farris vs. the S Men - Roger Sanchez and Junior Sanchez. Additional glamour was provided courtesy of Macy Gray and Glasgow's favourite grandmother, Lulu, and the last Scottish appearance of All Saints watched from the side of the stage by Huey & Fast of FLC. Two other relatively unknown acts at the time in the King Tut's Tent were Coldplay and Toploader, which shows that you really should pay attention to the bands in the tents early in the day, as they often become the headliners of future years. Stage Two for instance at 3pm on each day had At The Drive In and JJ72 respectively.
