That first week went by with a flurry of activity and seemed like
seconds instead of days. On Friday, Heather went to work, and when she walked
in was totally surprised by the balloons attached to her chair and a sign that
said, "Come into the lunchroom."
There, everyone was
assembled, and she cried as she realized how thoughtful they all had been to
throw her a wedding shower. They all laughed at her, and she opened mounds of
gifts, and thanked them all for how kind they had all been to her. Susan came
over to her at the end of the breakfast party, and told her that she should
take the rest of the day off, that her desk was in great shape, and that she
appreciated all that Heather had done to transition and finish everything.
"You know, I am really
going to miss you, Susan," Heather told her.
"Well then, I guess
you better invite me over for dinner soon, huh?" Susan laughed. Heather
hugged her, and between them they carried all of her gifts out to her car.
Heather needed every spare
minute, and as the day wore on she started getting more and more nervous. Bob
had said he had a surprise for her that night, but wouldn't say what. Today was
Maggie's last day of school, and she hoped that it was going well. Bob was
supposed to pick Maggie up, and Heather called him to
tell him she was home and what had happened at work.
"That's great, hon,
that way we can get an earlier start than I had planned," Bob mentioned.
"But, where are we going?"
Heather asked.
"You'll see," Bob
replied mysteriously.
Bob came and got Heather
before picking up Maggie.
"Hey
Mom?"
Maggie asked, getting in, "How come you're here?"
"Well, hi to you
too," Heather laughed.
"I didn't mean it that
way, Mommmm, geeeeez," Maggie said and rolled her eyes at her mom. Bob
turned the car and headed to the freeway.
"Where are we going,
Bob?" asked Heather. "Please tell me what's up."
Bob pointed to the next
sign, "Well, we are heading north."
"North?" Suspicious
now, Heather looked at Bob, who was grinning, as he said, "Yup,
north."
"Ohhhhh NO, you don't.
I do NOT want to go to my mother's!" Heather shouted.
"Calm down, hon,"
Bob suggested.
"NO, I Won't! Stop
this car, NOW!!!!!" Heather shouted again.
Bob said gently, "Calm
down, Heather. Listen, I have talked to your mom several times over the last
few days, and she wants to see us, together. I thought Maggie would also like
to see her grandma, and it is settled, okay?"
"NO! It is NOT okay!
How dare you do this behind my back, without telling me?" Heather growled.
Bob, starting to get
annoyed, said, "LOOK, you were upset about that conversation with your
mother. I told you I would handle it, right? You said, please do, right? AND I
DID. Now stop acting like a total brat, and relax and enjoy the ride. Hummmph."
All of a sudden they both
heard the quiet sobs coming from the back seat. Pulling over, Bob turned around
to ask Maggie what was wrong. Maggie just sobbed harder, and refused to let him
touch her.
Suddenly, Maggie turned to
Heather, and said, "I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU!"
Stunned, Heather just
stared at Maggie, and looked over at Bob. Getting out of the car, and into the
back seat, Bob gathered a resisting Maggie into his arms. Maggie buried her
head on his shoulder and seemed inconsolable. Heather still looked shocked and
started to speak but Bob put his finger over his mouth to signal her not to say
anything.
"Hon, look at
me," Bob told Maggie. Clinging for dear life, he had to put his finger
under her chin and force her to look up at him. "Are you scared,
Magpie?"
"Uh huh," Maggie
sobbed.
"I thought so.
Sweetie, grownups fight sometimes, and your mom and I are going to have lots
and lots of disagreements, and you know what? We will ALWAYS make up, okay? I
am NOT going anywhere. We are NOT breaking up. I am STILL going to be your
daddy forever and ever, okay?" Bob reassured her, calmly.
Maggie wanted sooo hard to
believe him, and yet was afraid to trust. She had been let down so many times
in her young life, that the fight she heard had really shaken her.
"Now young lady, I
want you to apologize to your mother," Bob told her. Maggie just shook her
head no. "YOUNG LADY, I will NOT take NO for an answer, understood? You
can be upset, but I will NOT tolerate rudeness from you. Now you can apologize
right now or I can turn you over my knee and spank you right here, right now.
Which is it going to be?" Bob asked sternly.
Maggie did NOT want a
spanking, and said, "Sorry Mom," in a very quiet voice. "Now
Heather," Bob directed at her, "I think you also have something to
say, do you not?"
Both Maggie and Heather
stared at him for a second. Heather looked at Maggie, and said, "Hon, I am
sorry that you heard Daddy and I fight, but he is right, we aren't always going
to agree on everything, and it is going to be okay."
With a final hug, Bob got
back into the drivers seat. Reaching over to take Heather's hand, he asked her,
"Are you okay?"
She nodded. "Yes
sweetie, thank you. I guess I just got scared. My mom can be sooo negative, and
I don't want her ruining our wedding."
Bob sighed. "She won't
hon, trust me."
Maggie took a nap during
the long drive to her grandma's and was just waking up when they pulled into
the driveway. Her grandma met them at the door, and seemed genuinely glad to
see them. Walking in, Maggie and Heather smelled their favorite foods cooking,
and Heather introduced Bob to her mother.
Bob went over and gave her
a big hug, and incredibly, her mom hugged him back. Heather was shocked. They
started talking like they were old friends, and before she knew it, they were
all seated at the dinner table talking about the wedding. Bob had her mom
laughing at some of his funnier college stories.
Around 9, Bob told everyone
that it was time to get back on the road, as they had a two hour drive home.
Heather's mom wanted them to stay overnight, but no one had brought anything,
so they decided they would do that soon. Bob had a pillow and blanket in the
trunk, and made a bed for Maggie in the back seat so she could sleep on the way
home. She was soooo tired that she was asleep almost before they got to the
freeway.
Talking low, so as not to
wake her up, Heather told Bob how she couldn't get over the change in her mom.
"What did you do, cast a spell or something?"
Bob laughed quietly,
"No hon, I just talked to her and listened and knew that she needed
reassurance that you and Maggie were going to be well
taken care of, and that I would never ever hurt you. She has a lot of negativity
towards men, but I overcame that with persistence."
"You really are
something, you know that?!" Heather said.
Kissing her palm he said,
"You know, I think that about you, too."
Back on Long Island, Bob
carried Maggie up to her room, and tucked her into bed in her clothes, not
wanting to wake her up to undress her.
Taking Heather's hand, he
led her into her bedroom. "Now young lady, we have something to
discuss," Bob told her. "What?" Heather asked.
"For starters, young
lady, that was quite a little temper tantrum you threw in the car, wasn't
it?" he asked sternly.
"Umm, yes Sir, I guess
so," Heather replied sheepishly.
"Now, is that the kind
of behavior we want you to role model for OUR daughter?" Bob queried.
Heather smiled at the use
of the term, OUR, and gently replied, "No sir."
"Well, what do you
think a naughty young lady deserves when she throws a temper tantrum?" Bob
asked her.
"Ohhhh Bob, please don't spank me tonight. I will NEVER do that
again, I promise," Heather expressed.
"Well, I don't think I
can let it pass, hon, I really don't," Bob told her with a mock stern
look. Heather knew he wasn't really mad, so she relaxed a bit. A bit too soon. Bob picked her up, and carried her over and
dumped her on the bed. Before she could turn over, he sat down, and hauled her
over his knee, and started smacking her bottom.
Wiggling and trying to get
away does her no good, as he clamped his hand on her waist and continued to up
the ante. Lecturing as he spanked, Bob told her, "I do NOT appreciate
temper tantrums young lady, understood?"
"Yes Sir,"
Heather replied.
All of a sudden his spanks
stopped and Heather was relieved to get off so easily, but her relief was short
lived, as Bob lifted her skirt, and pulls down her panties.
"I bet you thought you
were done, didn't you, young lady?" "Umm, yes sir," said
Heather.
"Wellll, that was just
a warm up, little one," Bob explained. He proceeded to smack first one
cheek, then the other, not neglecting her sit spot, so she would remember this
spanking for a while. After a short time her bottom turned from pink to bright
red, and Bob stopped.
"Now, I want your
promise that you will not EVER act like that in front of Maggie again, IS
-SMACK, THAT-SMACK- CLEAR-SMACK-YOUNG-SMACKK-LADY-SMACK,?"
"OUCHHHHHHHH, yes sir,
I promise, I promise," Heather cried.
"Okay," Bob said
as he pulled Heather up and sat her back on his knee, and cuddled her. Rubbing
her bottom, he let her cry it out on his shoulder.
"I am sooo sorry I
disappointed you, sweetie," Heather cried.
"Hush now, it is
forgiven, and you have told me you won't ever do it again, right?" Bob
asked. "Right sir."
"Okay, best you
remember that then, okay?" "Okay!"
Bob's heart melted as he
looked down at his love, so sweet, and vulnerable, and his. He dipped his head,
and took her mouth, giving her a deep searing kiss. Heather passionately
returned his embrace and kiss, and soon, all thoughts of her bottom were gone.
They couldn't get enough of
each other, as they tugged at each others clothes, and tumbled backwards on the
bed. Limbs entwined, they found comfort, and passion and reached new heights of
ecstasy as they soared together to a shattering shared climax. Bob stroked
Heather's damp hair, and pulled her tight to his side.
Heather was just starting
to fall asleep, when she felt Bob pull away from her. "What, hon, what are
you doing?" she asked alarmed. "I have to go, babe," he said.
"GOOOO? What do you mean? GO?" Heather
repeated.
"What will Maggie
think if she wakes up and I am here in your bed?" Bob asked.
"Oh silly man, she
will be thrilled to have her daddy here. And, for that matter, now that I am
off work, and you are too, it is silly for us to be apart till the wedding next
Saturday. Don't you think?" Heather asked.
The way Heather's hands
were moving on him as she asked him that, drove all thoughts of an answer from
his mind for quite awhile.......
~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, a sleepy
Maggie walked into her mom's bedroom and seeing Bob there, decided to get into
bed with them. Crawling up the middle, she nudged her way in, until she was
in-between them both. Laughing, they both put their arms around her, and
snuggled tight.
"What a great way to
wake up, Magpie", Bob told her.
Smiling, she looked at Heather,
wondering if her Mom would be annoyed, but Heather tousled her hair, and kissed
her forehead and said, "Morning little love."
Content now, Maggie let out
a big sigh, and asked, "So, what are we doing today?"
"Well," Bob told
her, "I think it is time to get some packing and moving done. What do you
think?"
"Oh wow, now? Can we
start NOW?" Maggie asked, all excited.
"Whoa, little one,
your mom and I are still half asleep," Bob explained.
"Ohhh, come on
sleepyheads, get up!" Maggie shouted and started jumping up and down on
the bed, until Bob caught her, and started to tickle her. Giggling they both
wrestled for a few minutes while Heather got up and watched.
"Okay, you two, if you
are going to get any breakfast, you better plan on helping," she said
laughing.
Bob told Maggie to brush
her teeth and make her bed before breakfast.
"But
Daddy, not now!" Maggie whined.
"EXCUSE ME, YOUNG
LADY? Did I hear whining?" Bob inquired. "Noo!"
"I must have heard
wrong, because young ladies who whine are looking to be spanked, and I just
can't believe that is what you want this morning, is it?"
"Ummm, no Daddy. Not
me," Maggie said quietly.
"Then someone better
scoot," and with that Bob swat her bottom and sent her in the right
direction.
Leaning into Bob, Heather
said, "Seeee?"
Bob shrugged. "See
what, brat?" said Bob smiling.
"See, Maggie didn't
think a thing of waking up to find her daddy here. So there," and Heather
stuck her tongue out at Bob.
"Ohhhh, just you wait,
young lady," Bob laughed at her. "Now I want some coffee,
woman," he told her in a fake gruff voice.
"Yes Master," she
told him laughing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That night, after hauling
over several loads of stuff, Heather and Bob collapsed on her couch.
"There is still sooo
much to do," Heather whined. "How are we ever going to get it all
done?"
"Well, first of all
there will be NO whining, got it?" Bob said.
"Yes Sir,"
Heather sighed, forgetting how much whining got to him.
"Now, go get your
lists," Bob told her.
"Ohhh sweetie, we are
both tired, let's just go to bed," Heather suggested.
"NOOOOO, you are
stressing, and we are going to go over the lists, so just go get them,
okay?" Taking her shoulders in his hands, Bob turned her to look at him.
"Now, let's talk about something. Marriage is about teamwork, right?"
he asked her.
"Uh huh," Heather
replied.
"Then we do this
TOGETHER! If we can just get organized, we can do this, stress free, or at
least almost," Bob explained.
Heather went to get her
lists, and Bob was amazed at how organized she was. She had a list for
everything: CLOTHES, MOVE, Wedding Party, etc.
"Hon," she asked
him, "what about things like the wedding rings, and the honeymoon?"
"The rings are
ordered, and our honeymoon is all taken care of. Tickets are coming in the mail
by fed-ex tomorrow. We have reservations on a flight the next night out of La
Guardia, so we can be here for Christmas morning with Maggie and then we will
be gone for seven days. Maggie is going to spend half of that time at your
mom's and the other half with Lisa and Charlie," Bob explained. He turned
to look at Heather and suddenly realized she was crying. "What's the
matter, hon? Is something wrong?"
"Oh noo, it is just
soooo right," Heather admitted.
