Bob woke up the next
morning early, as was his custom. He decided to make pancakes and had the coffee
perking, and the batter ready when the first sleepy head entered the kitchen.
"Whatcha making, Uncle
Bob?" asked Robin.
Bob saw his niece and
smiled, "Pancakes, hon, are the others up yet?"
"Nope, not yet,"
she said.
"Okay, sweetie, then
you and I get some alone time, don't we?" Bob suggested, opening up his
arms wide.
Robin ran into them and
they sat like that at the table, while Bob sipped his coffee, and Robin had
juice. Neither of them saw Maggie at the doorway, staring at them, before slipping
away. Maggie decided to go back to her room, get dressed, and be perfect, so
her daddy would be proud, but little thoughts kept getting in her way:
What if her new daddy liked
Robin better? What if he would rather have one of the twins for his daughter
instead? Well, he had known them a lot longer than he had her, right? Of
course, right. Slow tears slipped down her nose, at the thought of her daddy
not loving her as much as he loved Robin and Jenn.
Instead of getting dressed,
Maggie decided to go into her mom and dad's room and slip into bed with her
mom. She desperately needed to feel loved, and hoped that her mom could provide
it without asking a lot of questions. Half asleep, Heather felt Maggie before
she opened her eyes, and gathered her close to cuddle with her. Sighing, Maggie
wiggled into a comfortable place, and soaked up the nurturing her mom was
giving her.
Jenn finally woke up, and
sauntered into the kitchen, and then Bob went to wake up Heather. Standing in
the doorway, his heart filled with pride as he looked at Heather and Maggie
curled up in bed together. Longing to join them, but knowing that the twins
were hungry and waiting for breakfast, he tiptoed over, and kissed both his
wife, and daughter.
Leaning to whisper in her
ear, he told Heather how much he loved her, and then did the same with Maggie.
Lifting Maggie up in his arms, he pulled her out of bed, and announced that
pancakes a la Clemente would be ready shortly. Heather looked like she wanted
to drift off again, and so he put Maggie down, and asked her to go into the
kitchen.
Giggling, thinking they
wanted to smooch, she left, and Bob leaned down and rubbed Heather's bottom,
and asked if she needed another dose of discipline to remember to get up this
morning. Heather's eyes flew open, and she quickly jumped out of bed, almost
knocking him over.
Laughing, Bob gathered her
into his arms, and kissed her soundly. "Okay, let's get the day
going," he said. And with that, he swatted her still sore bottom, and left
to make pancakes.
~~~~~~~~~
Bob and Heather decided to
take the girls to the movies, and they all had a wonderful time watching a
double feature Disney movie. By the time it was over, they knew they should
head back to wait for Charlie and Lisa. The twins got really quiet on the way
home, and Bob wondered what was up with them.
Back at the apartment, they
went quietly to pack their stuff, and Bob looked over at Heather who shrugged
her shoulders. Turning to Maggie he asked her if something was wrong.
Maggie said, "Well,
ummm, I guess Uncle Charlie told the twins if you had to spank them for
anything, he would spank them again when HE got back, so they know that they
are in trouble."
Bob nodded. "Ahhh, I
see. Okay, let me talk to them."
Walking into Maggie's room,
Bob saw two really subdued girls and his heart went out to them. "Tell you
what, you two. You have both been good as gold today and I think that you
learned your lesson about the woods, right?"
"Yes Sir," they
said in unison.
"Okay, just this once,
I think it is okay to tell your dad that everything was fine. You knew you did
something you shouldn't, you were punished, and as far as I am concerned it is
over. Deal?" he asked.
"Ohhhh Uncle Bob, you
are the best uncle in the whole world!" Robin exclaimed.
"Hmmm, even when I
spank your naughty bottoms?" he asked and laughed at the same time.
For an answer, both girls
threw their arms around his neck, causing him to fall over. Taking that
opportunity he started tickling them, and they began to screech, and none of
them heard the doorbell. Charlie and Lisa walked into the room, and laughed as
they saw all the legs and arms tangled on the floor.
Charlie smiled and said,
"Well, I guess it was a good weekend, huh little brother?"
"Absolutely, we love
having the twins," Bob answered.
"Were they any
trouble?" Charlie asked sternly.
"Nope, none at
all," Bob said and winked at the girls.
They all got up so the
girls could hug their mom and dad.
"Anybody hungry?"
Lisa asked.
The girls groaned, thinking
of all the popcorn they had eaten, but Bob said, "Absolutely!"
"Well, dinner is on
us. Let's order some pizza," Charlie suggested.
~~~~~~~~~
After the twins left with
their folks, Bob told Heather he would give Maggie her bath. In the tub, Maggie
looked at Bob, and he saw a question in her eyes.
"What is it,
Magpie?" Bob asked gently.
"Well, Daddy, I am a
bit worried about tomorrow. What if Frankie is really mad at me? What if he
starts something? Do you think my teacher and the principal will still be mad?
I just don't know if I can face it, Daddy."
Maggie started to sob, and
Bob felt his heart wanting to break. His little girl had been through sooo much
in a short period of time.
Gently, he said,
"Honey, you can't just stay home from school forever, now can you? There
are a lot of your friends there to see, and be with, right?"
Maggie nodded. "Uh
huh, I guess so. But I am still grounded, and I am afraid to be on the
playground, or go to lunch!"
Bob slapped his hands and
got Maggie's full attention. "Okay, what we need here is a plan. How about
when you get out of the tub you call Julia, and find out if you two can eat
your lunch somewhere else?"
Maggie shook her head back
and forth. "I can't, Daddy."
"Why not,
Magpie?" Bob asked, wondering why she was suddenly so miserable.
"Cause, I can't use
the phone, Daddy," Maggie expressed.
Bob chuckled. "Ohhh
yeah, I forgot. Well, I think for this one thing, it is okay, okay?"
Bob lifted her out of the
tub and sat her on his lap to dry her off, and also so he could hold her really
close, and hopefully so she could feel his love.
"Daddy?" Maggie
asked.
"Yes, Magpie?"
"Do you love Robin and
Jenn more than me?" Maggie's head was buried in his shoulder when she asked
this, and he was so startled by her question, he almost dropped her.
"Why would you ask
such a thing?" Bob queried.
Maggie hung her head,
knowing she had upset her daddy. "I am sorry, Daddy."
"No hon, please don't
be sorry, just talk to me. Please?" he pleaded.
"Well, you have known
them a lot longer, and I just well, I umm, I just needed to ask, I guess,"
she explained.
Bob held her so tight, she
could barely breathe. "Maggie, I love you soo much I can't even believe it
myself. No one, except your mom, has ever meant as much to me as you do, and I
will love you as your forever dad until the day I die, and NOTHING is ever
going to change that. Nothing you do, could ever do, could EVER EVER change it.
Got it?"
Maggie just nodded, and Bob
rocked her back and forth until he felt her trembling stop.
"Okay now?" he
asked, as he helped her into her nightgown, and brushed her hair.
"Yes, Daddy. Thank
you."
"Sweetie?"
"Yes, Daddy?"
"Thank you for
trusting me enough to ask me. I always want you to know you can come to me with
whatever you are feeling, thinking, or doing," Bob reminded her.
"I know that, Daddy. I
really do," answered Maggie.
~~~~~~~~~
The next day at school,
Maggie was nervous but did her best to hide it, and indeed was very glad to be
back with her friends. It had been almost six days since she had seen or talked
to any of them. Her eye was healed with just a tinge of blue underneath it, and
her side was fine.
Bob had called the
principal after Maggie left with Heather for school to discuss the situation,
and she had promised to keep a very sharp eye on things. First recess came, and
the girls all surrounded Maggie as if to protect her. Frankie, seeing her in
her group, walked to the opposite end of the playground, and acted as if she
didn't exist. Lunchtime and afternoon recess went the same way, and Maggie
started to breathe again.
After school she almost ran
into him in the hallway, and tried to stand aside so he could pass. He looked
at her with such venom that it scared her, and he told her to stay clear of
him. He was NOT going to get into trouble again because of HER. She was a
worthless troublemaker, and he told her nobody liked her anyway. And then he
just sauntered off.
Julia came up behind the
startled Maggie, and took her arm. "Come on, he has no clue what he is
saying. Everyone but him likes you. I bet his dad gave him a real
whipping," her friend said.
Suddenly, Maggie actually
felt sorry for her arch enemy. "Is his dad mean to him?"
"No, I don't think so,
just real strict," Julia said.
"Ohh," was all
Maggie could say.
Julia hesitated a minute,
then asked, "Ummm were YOU in a lot of trouble?"
"Well," Maggie
began, "kinda. I had to do research in the library, and write a paper for
my parents on Martin Luther King. Ohh, yeah, I am grounded for another week,
too. No phone, tv. nothing."
Julia sympathized with her
friend. "Wow, that's too bad. I was gonna invite you over tomorrow after
school."
"Ohhhh, I wish I could
come, but I can't. Sheesh, sometimes a spanking is sure easier than a
punishment that lasts FOREVER!" Maggie blurted.
Julia giggled, and agreed
with her. "Yeah, my daddy spanks me when I am naughty, but I have NEVER
been grounded. It sounds horrible," Julia expressed.
Maggie giggled then, and
told her, "Well, I guess I will live." Then they both giggled, and
parted company for the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At home, Maggie filled her
parents in on all that was happening as she ate a snack, and then retired to
her room to study. Bob and Heather were stunned at how grown up she had
sounded, as she told them about her day, and about being invited to Julia's
house, and how she had handled it. Not a whine or a pout in any of it. They
were both pretty proud. Heather wanted to forgive the rest of the week's
grounding, but Bob felt it important to carry through on the punishment.
"We have to be
consistent, hon," he informed her.
"But Bob!"
"No whining from YOU,
young lady," Bob said mock sternly.
Heather giggled, and kissed
him as she told him what a great dad he was. Bob swatted her on her bottom for
good measure, and then went to correct papers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heather had decided to take
three classes to start and so far were enjoying them. She had thought she would
be the oldest student in every one, and was pleasantly surprised to find others
her age in her classes. She had made a few friends, and had spent the morning
in the library studying with them. She knew she would never be an A student,
but felt that if she could maintain a B average, life would be good, and Bob
could be proud.
Three weeks later, Heather
realized that her blasé attitude about school was completely off base. Her work
became much harder, and she was struggling to keep up with the massive amounts
of reading it required. On top of that, she had been slacking off quite a bit
lately, going shopping with friends, spending time on the internet, and making
fancy dinners for the family.
With midterms coming soon,
she realized that she would be in big trouble if she didn't start really paying
more attention. Bob asked her continually how she was doing, and she always
insisted it was fine, but she knew that when he found out, there would be a big
price to pay.
~~~~~~~~
At school, Maggie had
relaxed into the routine, and was excited because Julia was having a sleepover
the next weekend. Notes were being passed back and forth between them, and the
whispering was non stop. They had both been reprimanded three times that day
for whispering, and then Maggie got caught with a note.
"All right, that is
IT. If you like notes so much, Maggie, I will send one home to your
parents!" Ms. Brennan shouted.
Maggie was shocked. Ms.
Brennan had never had to yell at her before. Usually she was so calm. Maggie
thought her heart would stop. She knew just how her dad was going to respond to
that. She was quiet the rest of the day, and got lots of sympathy looks from
Julia.
After class, before recess,
Maggie tried to talk her teacher out of sending the note home, but couldn't convince
her. Instead, she was told that it would also be logged on her chart, and that
she would have to do a clean up detention as part of her punishment. Handing
her the note, she told Maggie to have one of her parents sign it and bring it
back tomorrow morning. If she didn't the office would send for her, and she
would be in the principal's office when they called her parents at home.
Knowing that would only
make things worse, Maggie went out to recess, and sat moping with Julia. Julia
tried her best to cheer her up, and finally left her alone, and went off to
play with some other friends. Maggie had no wish to play at all. She wandered
off to a corner of the yard and sat against the fence.
Deep in thought, she didn't
realize anyone had approached when she heard, "Hey, what's with you, mopey
head?"
She looked up and realized
the voice belonged to her arch enemy, Frankie. "Why would you care?"
Maggie asked him.
"I don't, but you do
look pretty pathetic sitting there, you know. You in trouble?" he asked.
"Yeah, I am. Feel
better?" she asked sarcastically.
"Not really, I have a
note to take home to my parents," Frankie told her.
"Wow! Me too!"
Maggie exclaimed.
Both looked at the other with
unspoken sympathy, and then Frankie walked away. Maggie was amazed that he even
deigned to speak to her at all. But maybe it was true, misery did love company.
~~~~~~~~~
That night Maggie was
pretty quiet during dinner, but her parents were talking so much they hardly
noticed, until her dad looked over and saw she was merely pushing her food
around on her plate.
"What's up, Magpie?
Not hungry?" he asked.
Maggie looked down and
mumbled into her plate, "No Sir."
Seeing the downcast look on
her face, Bob wondered what was up. "Do you have something you need to
tell us, sweetie?" he asked gently.
He was trying to make it
easier for her, but his kind tone just started the tears to roll down her face.
"Spill it, sweetie. It will be easier than holding it in and dreading what
our reaction is going to be."
"Well, I umm, see I
ahhh, ohhhhh," she began. Maggie ran from the table to get the note.
Coming back, she stood silently and gave the note to her dad. He opened it,
read it and passed it to Heather.
Looking into Maggie's sad
eyes, his heart melted, but he knew he had to reinforce good behavior in
school. "Well Maggie, what do you have to say for yourself?"
"Nothing, Sir,"
she said quietly.
"There must be
something, isn't there?" her mom asked.
"Nope, I was passing
notes and whispering with Julia, and I shouldn't have been, and I have to go to
detention and have you sign this note," Maggie explained.
"Well, you know what
you did was wrong, don't you?" Bob asked.
"Yes, sir."
"Okay, then, do you
want to finish your dinner?" he asked.
Maggie shook her head.
"No Sir. I don't think I can. No, I guess not."
"Well then, I want you
to go to your room, and stand in the corner thinking about today, and how you
could have prevented having this note sent home until I come in. Is that clear,
young lady?" Bob asked, sternly.
"Yes Sir."
"Okay, scoot
then," he said. Maggie went flying down the hallway to her room, relieved
that the telling was over, but dreading the spanking she knew was coming.
Bob looked over at Heather
and asked her what she thought.
"Oh hon, she looked
soooo cute, and sad. And I know she knows better, but kids are kids. Can't you
just lecture her?" Heather asked hopeful, knowing what Bob intended.
"Do you think that would
make a big impression, hon?" Bob asked her.
"No, I guess
not," Heather admitted.
"Well, do we make a
stand that education, and classwork is important, or do we let it slide?"
Bob inquired.
Knowing how guilty she
herself was, she knew that in some way, she was pleading for herself.
"Well, she is good most of the time, so a little slip now and again can be
expected, right?" Heather asked cautiously.
With some intuition, Bob
wondered what was really going on with his pretty little wife, but thought that
time would tell him. But he couldn't help asking, "Anything YOU want to
tell me, sweetie?"
"Uhhh, no, why would
there be, dear?" Heather asked nervously.
"Oh nothing, just you
seem a tad on edge, that's all," Bob said.
"Well, I have a lot of
work to do, that's all, and I umm, better get the dishes done so I can study,
while you talk to Maggs," Heather said nervously. Finishing dinner, both
turned to the chores at hand.
Bob walked slowly to
Maggie's room, not liking any better than she what he had to do. Finding her
standing in the corner, he almost changed his mind, but when he called her
over, she looked him in his eyes, and said, "Daddy I am sorry to be such a
disappointment to you."
"Margaret Ann, YOU are
not ever, ever a disappointment to me, I love you with all my heart. Sometimes,
however, your behavior disappoints me, but never misunderstand the difference
between the two, okay? Do you understand me?" Bob asked.
Maggie shook her head no.
Bob tried to explain.
"Well, YOU as the person you are, will always be my cherished little girl,
but you will also make mistakes in judgement along the way. As your daddy, it
is my job to make sure you understand the difference between right and wrong,
and to correct it. Understand?"
"I think so, Daddy,"
Maggie said.
"Okay, then tell me
what you did to be punished tonight," he inquired.
Hating this part, Maggie
looked down, and recited the list of her transgressions. Bob knew this was hard
for her, but also knew how important it was for her to accept responsibility
for her actions.
He quickly lowered her
pants and panties and put her over his knee. Knowing that this was not a major
transgression, he spanked her but not overly hard, alternating cheeks until he
felt that she had had enough to make a point.
Maggie was sobbing quietly
as he put her on her feet, pulled up her panties and pants and put her on his
lap. She immediately threw her arms around his neck, and he held and rocked her
letting her know how much she was loved.
"Sweetheart, you know
that Daddy doesn't like to spank you, don't you?"
"Yes, Daddy, I
know."
"But, I do it because
I love you. Do you know that, too?"
"Uh huh," she
said, hugging him harder.
He let her quiet down,
rubbing her back, and talking softly to her, reminding her once again how much
she was treasured, and loved. They sat that way for a long time, and Maggie
knew deep in her heart that she had the best daddy in the whole wide world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following morning, Maggie
gave her signed note to her teacher. She told her to report to the office after
school for her trash pick up detention. Maggie quietly walked back to her desk,
vowing to be good.
At lunchtime, Julia and all
of Maggie's other friends again formed a tight circle, and all commiserated
with her on her rotten luck at being caught. It really could have been any of
them, as they had all been whispering and passing notes.
"Well," Maggie
told them, "at least I can still go to Julia's party, but if I get into
any more trouble, I probably won't be allowed to go, so pleasssse help me be
good."
Everyone giggled at the
face Maggie made and agreed to help keep her on track.
After school, Maggie went
to the office, and after a few minutes, Frankie walked in. It seemed they were
the only two to have detention today. Mrs. Carmichael, the secretary, gave them
trash bags, and told them to go out to the yard, and pick up any trash they
found there, and report back in one hour. She cautioned them to make sure they
were working and not dilly dallying. Maggie had to hide her smile, as that was
a word she had only ever heard her grandmother use.
After Mrs. Carmichael's
short lecture, they both headed outside. "Well, Shortstuff, which side of
the yard do YOU want?" Frankie asked her belligerently.
"Hey, you know, we
both have this detail, so why be nasty about it?" Maggie asked him.
"I am NOT the one that got you into THIS mess. By the way, why are you in
this mess?"
"Never mind,
shortstuff, let's just get on with it."
Maggie suddenly smiled at
him.
Frankie frowned. "Hey,
whatcha smiling about?"
"Ohh nothin. Do you
have any sisters?" Maggie asked.
"No, thank goodness, I
DON'T. Why did ya ask?"
"Cause you seem like
what I always thought a big brother would be like, that's all," Maggie
stated.
Suddenly, Frankie laughed.
"Really? And how is THAT, Shortstuff?"
"Hey, quit calling me
Shortstuff. I am NOT that much shorter than YOU are!" Maggie retorted.
"Yeah, but you are
younger AND shorter than I am, so quit complaining. It's just a nickname, ya
know."
"Yeah, I guess."
They both picked up their
bags and began to pick up trash.
"Sheesh, kids are
messy, aren't they?" Frankie asked, not knowing why he felt the need to
break the silence.
Maggie looked thoughtful.
"Well, yeah, so are we, when we aren't thinking about it. I guess."
As they walked and picked
up trash, they began to talk about where they had come from. Frankie's dad was
retired military. He had gotten wounded during the Gulf War, and gotten
discharged on a medical condition. Frankie didn't tell her what had happened,
and Maggie didn't ask. He seemed caught up in memories.
"We moved around a lot
when I was younger. Seemed there was always some new base to go to, new people
to meet. But, I guess we are gonna stay here now. This is where my Mom grew up,
which is why we moved back to here," Frankie explained.
"Have you lived in
other countries?" Maggie asked.
"Well, sure. I have
lived in Europe, Germany mostly, and then we were sent to Japan for about six
months, and then back to England. Like I said, lots of places. That's why I am
a little behind in my schoolwork now. I really should be in sixth grade, not
fifth. Sooo, what's YOUR story?" he asked.
"Well, I lived upstate
until a short time ago. My mom remarried and we live here now. Not much to
tell," Maggie said fliply.
Frankie looked at her, and
knew there was a lot more, but decided not to push her. "You know, you're
not bad for a girl," he grudgingly admitted.
"Well, thanks. You aren't
bad for a boy either," Maggie said.
"Well, we don't have
to blab that all over, do we?" Frankie asked.
"Nahh, we can keep it
to ourselves," Maggie admitted.
Frankie smiled. "Well,
I like what you said about thinking of me as a big brother, kinda. I will watch
out for ya, Shortstuff."
"Thanks, Frankie,
that's nice of you."
"Wanna shake on
it?" he asked.
"Sure," Maggie
answered.
Looking at his watch, he
shook hands, and told her they could pack it in, and head for the office. The
principal had watched them out her window, and was really glad when she saw
them talking and shaking hands. She knew they had both turned a corner and was
glad to see it. She met them when they came back in, and informed them that
they had both done a good job, and were free to go home.
"Maggie, your mother
wants you to call her, and she will pick you up," Mrs. Haley informed her.
Not wanting to look too
interested, Frankie just headed out. Maggie was disappointed he hadn't even
said goodbye to her, but at the door, he turned around, and winked at her. Her
spirits improved immediately, and she smiled back, careful not to look too
obvious.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two weeks later, midterms
were almost upon Heather, and she was in a total panic. Every night Bob asked
her how she was doing, and she always lied to him. She was beginning to think
this nightmare was only going to get worse. What is gonna happen when he finds
out I am failing EVERY class? she thought. Will he still love me, or will he
think he married a total failure?
The more nervous she got,
the more she jumped at both Bob and Maggie, until one night Bob asked Maggie to
go read in her room.
"Okay, Heather, I have
had enough of this behavior from you, young lady. We are going to go into our
bedroom and discuss this at length. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" Bob began.
"Yes Sir."
Heather was both frightened, and relieved at the same time. Once in their
bedroom, Bob closed and locked the door.
"Okay, now Heather, I
know you have been lying to me for weeks. I know that you are struggling with
your work. Sooo, tell me, why do you think you need to hide it?" Bob
asked.
Heather suddenly looked at
Bob and saw the hurt on his face. She thought the hurt was because she had
failed him academically.
Quietly, Bob asked her, "Do
you think I am an ogre? Do I frighten you soo much you couldn't ask me for
help? Have I failed you that miserably?"
Heather looked up into his
hurt eyes, and was astounded. "What did you ask me?" She was so
stunned that it took a moment to register just what Bob was saying. "YOU
fail ME? What ever would make you think that?" she asked surprised.
"Well, obviously, you
don't trust me enough to confide in me, to let me help you, to make our
marriage a team effort," he said bitterly.
"Bob, I NEVER thought
any of those things," Heather swore.
"Then what were you
thinking?" he asked.
"Well, I felt I had to
do this myself, that I had to prove myself to YOU." Heather started to cry,
and Bob just sat there, NOT taking her into his arms, as she had hoped, and
needed with all her heart and soul.
Sighing, Bob stood up and
went to look out the window. "Heather, what do you think intimacy
means?"
Heather was shocked at this
line of questioning. "What? Well, it means cuddling, and holding each
other, and all the other things we do in bed," she said simply.
"Is that all it means
to you?" he asked.
Heather had no clue what
Bob wanted her to say, but she sure hoped divine inspiration would hit about
now.
Sighing again, Bob told
her, "Intimacy is not just about what happens between two people in bed,
sweetheart. It is sharing heart, mind, body and spirit. And you, have not been
doing that with me. We aren't sharing your burdens, are we? You have pushed me
away. Why?"
Heather was silently
crying, watching his back, and wondering how they had gotten sooo off track.
"I, well, I, that is I didn't realize I was pushing you away. I just
thought I had to do this to make you proud of me," she tried to explain.
"I am always proud of
you, silly goose, but I am also hurt, that there is so little trust between us.
Trust is an important thing to me, and if we don't have it, we don't have
anything," he said.
With that, Bob walked out
of the bedroom, and Heather threw herself onto their bed, and sobbed her heart
out.
Bob walked out of the
apartment, and walked in the cold hoping to calm down, but he felt devastated.
He couldn't understand what had gone so wrong. He felt like he had somehow given
Heather the impression that she couldn't come to him, that he wouldn't
understand, and felt like a failure. Heather, was sobbing in their bedroom,
thinking mostly the same thoughts, of how she had let him down, and failed HIM.
Bob came back an hour
later, and checked on Maggie. She was fast asleep, and he tucked her in, and
kissed her forehead before turning out her light, and removing the book that
was still in her hand. He touched her hair, and wondered how he had ever gotten
lucky enough to have a daughter like her.
Slowly he walked down the
hallway to his bedroom, still not sure what to do when he got there. Heather
had heard him approach, and had decided on a course of action while he was
gone. She knew she had to regain his trust in her, and when he came into the
bedroom, he saw his pretty wife standing in the corner, nose to the wall.
Astounded, he asked her
what she was doing. "Waiting for you, Sir."
"Come here,
sweetheart," Bob said quietly.
Heather turned to him, and
walked slowly over. As he sat on the bed, she kneeled in front of him, and
looking up into his eyes, she apologized for hurting him.
"I am sorry for not
looking at it from your point of view, sweetheart. You are right. I should have
come to you, and told you that I was having problems. But I was ashamed, and
embarrassed," she admitted.
Taking her chin in his
hand, Bob told her, "Hon, there is never going to be anything that you
should be ashamed of. I am your husband, and I love you with all my heart, not
for what you can do, but for who you are. Do you understand that?"
"Yes, I do, and for my
lack of trust, and for not coming to you, and for not doing the work I should
have been doing, I think we both know what you need to do," she said.
Heather had placed a hairbrush
under the bed, and reached under and handed it to him. Bob looked down at
Heather, and knew she was right. They both needed this. Slowly he held his hand
out, and pulled her up and over his knees. Lifting her negligee, he pushed it
up on her back, and realized she was wearing nothing underneath. Stroking her
bottom tenderly, he asked her why she was being punished.
"For not trusting you,
sir, for not allowing our love to transcend anything else that was going on,
for pushing you away, and for not telling you the whole truth, when you asked
me," Heather said calmly.
"And for all those
things, what do you think you deserve, my little one?"
"Please spank me,
sir."
Heather couldn't believe
what comfort those words gave her. She knew that it would hurt, but she also
knew how cleansed and loved she would feel afterwards. Bob began spanking her
slowly, tenderly, almost as caresses. Then he began more in earnest, and
Heather began to feel the heat rise.
Over and over he spanked
her, one cheek, then the other, and then, he began to spank her thighs, and boy
did that ever hurt. She yelped a bit, but tried not to kick too much, and
accept her due punishment. Bob suddenly picked up the hairbrush, and began a
flurries of spanks that went up one side of her bottom, down the other, and
also both her thighs.
He gently lectured her as
he made his points with a sharp smack. "Now, will you EVER (SMACK) not
tell (SMACK) me the things (SMACK) you should (SMACK) young lady?" (SMACK)
"No sir, I
promise."
Bob kept it up until
Heather was sobbing quietly and was limp on his lap. Reaching over to the
nightstand, he grabbed some cream and began caressing her bottom, spreading it
all over. Her bottom was a fiery red, and he rubbed her back and bottom until
she quieted down.
Pulling her up, he put her
gently on his lap. Looking up at him with tears still in her eyes, she asked
him, "Am I forgiven?"
"Of course, and you
always will be, my love. You are soo precious to me, now, and for always."
Hugging her tightly, he knew,
without a doubt, that he had never loved anyone more, and knew that this love,
would last a lifetime.
