Maggie was on the phone when she heard a crashing sound, and dropped the phone as she ran into the kitchen. Her baby brother, Josh, was sitting on the floor in the middle of a huge puddle of milk, the container laying on its side and the refrigerator door wide open. Grinning, he looked up at her and said " me thirsty."

Groaning, Maggie began to clean up, scolding Josh as she went, and totally forgetting about her friend on the phone, whom she had called long distance. Josh was soaking wet, so she quickly rinsed him off and changed his clothes, making him go potty before she put on clean underwear.

Josh was pretty proud of himself, now that he was potty trained, and felt like a real big boy in his truck underwear. It was hard to stay ticked off at Josh for long, and Maggie sung to him as she changed him and took him back to the living room. Suddenly, she saw the phone on the floor and picked it up, hoping her friend had hung up, but nope, there was Mike right there on the other end.

"Geez, Mike, I am soo sorry, but umm, my brother got all wet, and I had to change him," and she rushed on to tell Mike what she had been up to. Maggie had met Mike last summer at the dude ranch that she went to each year with her cousins Jennifer, Robin and their parents. Since then, they had talked regularly on the phone, and talked online.

She knew her dad was going to hit the roof when he saw this month's phone bill, and hoped she had enough money saved to pay her share. Her dad was reallll insistent that she do all this responsibility stuff. Sometimes he sure did take the fun out of being a teenager.

Report cards were also due out this week, and she knew her parents, but especially her dad, was going to be pretty mad. They had this real thing about grades, and hers weren't as good as she had led them to believe. But, she figured that what they didn't know wouldn't hurt her, and she had hoped to get her grades up before the end of the semester.

Of course, studying for her midterms might have helped, but she had been busy on the phone, playing with Josh, and hanging with her friends, all the time, telling her parents that she was all caught up. Well, things were sure going to catch up with her when they found out. Her bottom clenched just thinking about it.

Hearing a car door close, Maggie quickly said good-bye to Mike, and picked up a school book. "Hi kids," Heather called out as she walked in.

"Mommy mommy, mommy!" Josh shrieked and threw himself at her legs.

Laughing Heather picked him up, and swung him high in the air. Maggie walked in as the packages Heather was holding dropped on the floor. Walking over to them she began to open them, when Heather saw her and asked her not to.

"How come, Mom??"

"Umm, it's a surprise, so no peeking."

Maggie looked at the name on the bag and figured it couldn't be a surprise for HER, but she decided to leave well enough alone. No point in provoking her mom at this point.

That night, Bob came in to tuck Maggie in and saw by her face that something was troubling her. "What's up, Magpie?"

"Nothing, Dad."

"Sure, Maggs? You know you can talk to me about anything, don't you?"

"Sure, Dad."

Bob didn't like what he was hearing in her tone, and said, "Look, if there IS something wrong, coming clean about it up front is always better than waiting till I find out about it, right?"

Maggie was wrestling with her guilty conscience, but couldn't resist, hoping that her report card would somehow, miraculously be a whole lot better than she knew it was probably going to be and besides, why borrow trouble?

"Nothing, Dad, honest, just a silly disagreement with a friend. I can handle it."

Not sure he really believed her, Bob decided to leave it alone, knowing it would come out sooner or later. Looking her over he didn't see any signs of physical problems. Heather was leaning against the doorway, listening to the exchange and feeling a bit guilty herself. She also knew by the look on Maggie's face that something was wrong, and she was probably in trouble again.

SIGH. Teenagers sure could be a handful at times, but all in all, Maggie was a pretty good kid. She thrived on the discipline that her husband, Bob provided them both. She once again, was thankful that he was in both of their lives, and that they had a son together to cherish and bring up in a house that was filled with love.

The next day at school report cards got handed out, and Maggie felt her stomach drop as she looked at hers. OMG, it was much worse than she had expected, and she knew that her life, as she knew it was OVER. Her first thought was to run away, a technique she had often employed in the past, but knew she had to keep in check. She was way too old to be that selfish and childish, but ohh her dad was going to kill her.

What really bothered her the most was not the punishment she knew lay ahead, but how disappointed her dad was going to be in her. That, was, in her mind, far more difficult to bear than anything he would impose on her as sanctions. She knew she could kiss her phone privileges away, and that she would be grounded until her grades got up, and although she would love to lie to herself, she also knew she was in for a spanking, and probably a rather long hard one at that.

Walking home, she wondered if she dared hide it, or forge their names. Well, maybe they wouldn't ask for it; then of course, if they didn't, did she have to show it to them?

Thankfully when she got home, no one was there. There was a note from her mom that she had taken Josh to a "Mommy and Me" class and was going to the mall afterwards. Maggie breathed a sigh of relief. She took the report card out of her backpack and stared at it. Nope, the grades were still the same. What was she going to do?

Just then, the phone rang. It was her cousin, Jennifer. "Hey, Maggs, what's up?" Jenn asked.

Maggie told Jenn all about her problems with her report card. Maggie had always felt close to Jennifer, ever since they had met when she was ten and the twins were nine. But of Robin and Jennifer, Maggie always felt a kinship with Jenn. She could just hear Robin, who could be a goody-two-shoes at times saying, "Well, why didn't you study? Or why didn't you tell your parents how bad you were doing?"

Jenn sighed and said, "Oh, man, that's rough. What are you gonna do, Maggs?"

Maggie replied, "I don't know. My dad is gonna kill me." Maggie could almost hear Jenn nodding over the phone. The conversation soon turned to other stuff and Jenn said maybe they could get together and go shopping that weekend if Maggie wasn't grounded.

"Okay, I'll call you and let you know. Actually, if you don't hear from me, it'll be because I might not be able to use the phone. Maybe you should mail me some bread and water, Jenn."

The girls laughed and said their good-byes. Maggie looked around the house for something to do; anything that would get her mind off her report card troubles. She really hoped her parents would forget that report cards were given out today. And it was a Friday. What were those school administrators thinking, giving out report cards on a Friday? Didn't they know that kids would be punished for entire weekends or more?

Maggie ended up cleaning up the living room and kitchen. She was so busy in her task, that she didn't hear her dad pull up into the driveway. He came in and came around her so quietly that she screamed and jumped ten feet.

She turned to see Bob, standing there smiling. "Oh, Daddy, it's you. You scared me half to death!"

Bob chuckled and gave Maggie a big hug. "Sorry, sweetie, I didn't mean to spook you."

"How come you're home?" Maggie asked. Then realizing how she said it, changed it to, "I mean, how come you're home so early?"

"My classes end early on Fridays and I decided to cancel my office hours. I wanted to come home and spend some time with my family. I thought the four of us could go to dinner and maybe do some mini golfing afterwards. I know Josh is a little young, but he can bring one of his plastic clubs. He won't know the difference."

Bob was smiling and planning this wonderful outing. How could Maggie ruin his mood and show him her report card? She wouldn't. She would wait. It would be hard, but if she showed him now, there would be no family outing. She knew that was selfish of her, but it might be her last one for a while, so she may as well enjoy it.

But she didn't enjoy it. The whole night, she was very quiet at dinner, and quiet at mini golf. They spent most of the time chasing their balls or chasing Joshua. At two, he was quite a handful, not unlike her.

They were taking a break and were having a snack at the snack shop, when Bob came over to Maggie. She was picking the nuts off her ice cream cone and staring aimlessly into space.

"Maggs? What's wrong, sweetie?" Bob asked gently.

"Oh, um, uh, nothing, Daddy," Maggie said, turning away.

Bob turned her chin back and made her look at him. "You know you're going to have to tell me eventually, don't you?"

Maggie nodded and tears came to her eyes. "I don't want to, though, Dad. You're going to be very disappointed in me."

Heather came over to the duo then and said, "I think it's time we called it a night. This one," she said, pointing to Joshua, "is getting tired and cranky."

Bob stood up. "Okay, let's return the clubs and balls. Come on, Maggs. You can finish that in the car if you want, if you're careful."

Maggie looked at the cone and shook her head. "I don't really want it," she said, tossing it into the nearest trash can. Heather and Bob exchanged a glance. They had both noticed how distracted their daughter was all night.

When they got home, Bob and Heather went to get Joshua ready for bed. Maggie went to her room and put on her pajamas. She didn't know why she bothered with the bottoms, though. Once her dad saw her report card, she wouldn't need them. She'd be over his lap in a New York minute.

Maggie went down to the den a bit later, where Heather and Bob were sitting wrapped in each other's arms. When they saw Maggie's face, they sat up. Bob pointed to the chair that was opposite the couch. "Sit down, sweetie and tell Mommy and me what's wrong."

Sighing heavily, Maggie sat, and put her report card on the table in front of her. Bob looked at his daughter and then at the report card and said, "Is it bad, Maggs?"

Maggie nodded and started to cry. "Yes, Daddy, I'm so sorry!" she cried.

This time, Bob sighed as he picked it up and scanned it. He then sat back and read it in more detail. He showed Heather and just stared at Maggie. Maggie could tell he was trying to control his anger as soon as the words were out of his mouth.

"How could you let it get this bad, Margaret Anne?" he said, sternly.

"I don't know, Daddy," Maggie cried. She almost never called Bob "Daddy" anymore, except when she was in trouble or late at night when she was tired.

"Maggie, you know that's not an acceptable answer," Heather scolded.

"I know, Mom. It's just that, I, well, I thought I could pull them up," Maggie said.

"I need to cool off. I think you should go upstairs to your room for a bit while your mother and I talk. I am very upset about this, Maggie," Bob said, pointing to the doorway.

Maggie looked and stood up. "Yes, sir," she said, running for her room. "Wow, she thought to herself. Daddy was so mad, he couldn't even yell at me. What have I done?" she asked herself.

-----

Bob and Heather discussed the report card and what Maggie's punishment should be. Bob knew he was much too upset and angry to spank Maggie that night. He could hear Charlie's words echo in his mind, of a summer long past, when Bob wanted to spank Maggie while he was very angry. Charlie gave him the advice never to spank when you're mad, and Bob had remembered it ever since.

The two of them went upstairs and knocked on Maggie's door. She said quietly, "Come in." She was sitting on her bed reading a romance novel. She threw it under her bed and sat up and looked at her parents.

Bob sat down at her desk chair and Heather sat at the end of her bed. Maggie looked at her parents and waited. "Maggie, you have known your grades were going to be low for a while, haven't you?" Bob asked.

Maggie nodded, the tears already starting. "Yes, Daddy."

"Save those tears, young lady," Heather warned.

"But instead of telling us, you chose to lie to us, and let us believe your work was all caught up, is this correct?"

"Yes, sir," Maggie admitted.

"Why, Maggie?" Bob asked.

"I don't know," she said. "I mean I do know, I, um, uh, just wanted to have fun. The work was hard. And before I realized it, I was so far behind, and I couldn't catch up."

Bob was angry digesting his daughter's words. "So instead of telling us you were far behind, and letting us help you, you continued to play around and get in deeper. Maggie, this behavior is absolutely unacceptable and you will be punished very hard. Do you understand me?"

Maggie nodded. She didn't trust herself to speak.

Bob looked at his watch. "But it's much too late and I'm much too angry to deal with this tonight. We'll talk again tomorrow morning after breakfast. You're not going anywhere for a while anyway. The night will give us both time to think. And young lady, I suggest you really think about why you didn't come to us and tell us the truth."

Maggie was speechless now. She had expected a spanking. Now she had to wait. She wasn't sure if this was a good thing or not. She doubted it.

Bob leaned down and kissed Maggie's cheek. "Good night, Maggs. You know that Mommy and I still love you. But we're not very happy with you right now. Get some sleep. We have a lot of talking to do tomorrow."

Heather leaned down and picked up Maggie's romance novel. "Maybe you should be reading your science book instead of this, young lady." She put it on Maggie's desk. "Go to sleep. We love you, baby." Heather gave Maggie and hug and a kiss and they slowly went out of the room, closing the light and the door on their way out.

Maggie just stared at the door after her parents left. She was feeling very sorry for herself. She laid down and cried herself to sleep, thinking about what tomorrow would bring.

Bob and Heather headed back down to the den. Heather curled up on the couch while Bob sat at his desk. "I think I'm going to do some bills to get my mind off things." Heather watched as her husband took a stack of credit card bills and other bills and reached for his checkbook.

She jumped up then and went over to him. "Oh, honey, you don't want to do that now. It's much too late for that. Besides, I know a much better way to keep your mind off of Maggie."

Bob stood up then and the two embraced. Heather smiled and started to lead her husband upstairs.
~~~
The next morning when Bob came down to breakfast, Maggie was already up. She had Josh in his high chair, feeding him cereal. Actually he was feeding the floor cereal. "Don't like this kind," he said, throwing more on the floor.
Maggie looked up at Bob, helpless. Bob went over to deal with Joshua, while Maggie helped herself to some orange juice. "I made coffee, Daddy, want me to pour you some?"
Bob turned to look at Maggie and smiled. "Sure, honey." He was still upset about her report card but was not angry like he had been the night before. He was amazed at how nicely Maggie had grown into a young woman. He thought he and Heather had done a good job raising her.
After Bob had his coffee, and Joshua was settled into a video, Maggie sat down at the table with her dad. Heather was still asleep and they decided not to wake her yet.
"Daddy, I just want to say I'm sorry for lying to you," Maggie began.
Bob sighed and looked at Maggie. "I know you're saying you're sorry, Maggs, but you know that's not going to make things all right, don't you?"
She just nodded. "I know that. I just wanted you to know that I do feel bad. I'm not just saying it."
"Okay. Tell me what happened," Bob said.
Maggie filled Bob in on each subject in school and why she might have been failing it. She also told him how she had spent most nights and weekends for the past couple of months.
"That is unacceptable, Margaret Anne. You know that, don't you?" Bob asked.
"Yes, Daddy. I'm sorry. I'll do better, I promise. I won't go out during the week. I'll study every night. I'll be good!" she cried.
"No, you won't go out at all, not during the week and not on weekends. You're grounded until we see some sign that your grades have improved. No computer time either, unless you need to do research for a project. Am I understood, young lady?"
Maggie gulped. She knew her punishment would be harsh, but no online time? She didn't know if she could deal. But she couldn't tell him that. "Yes, sir."
"No tv, no phone, unless it's to call to get assignments. I'm afraid I'm going to have to be very strict with you, young lady. And if you breach one of these, you will be extra sorry. Is this clear?"
Maggie nodded again. "Yes, Daddy."
Heather came down then and kissed Bob's cheek. "Morning, sleepyhead, it's about time you got up."
"Thanks for letting me sleep in. I didn't even hear the baby cry," Heather said.
"I got him up early, Mom, and brought him downstairs, so you and Dad could sleep," Maggie explained.
Heather smiled. "Thank you, Maggs."
Bob stood up then. "Well, I'm glad you're up. Maggie and I have some business upstairs to attend to." He turned to Maggie then. "Go upstairs and wait for me. I will be up in a minute."
"Yes, Daddy," Maggie said, bringing her plate and glass to the sink, on her way out of the kitchen.
Heather squeezed Bob's arm. "Good luck," she whispered.
"Joshua's watching a video. He'll probably be hungry. Most of his cereal was on the floor," Bob said, chuckling. Heather laughed and said, "Okay."
Bob climbed the stairs slowly. He was not looking forward to this punishment he had to give Maggie. But he did want to be consistent. They all knew she had earned a hard paddling.
He went into Maggie's room and pulled her desk chair into the middle of the room. "Come here, Maggie," he said, motioning for her to join him. She had been sitting on her bed waiting. Slowly, she walked over to Bob, tears already forming on her face.
"Tell me why you're getting a spanking, young lady," he said.
"Because I lied to you about my school work and didn't come to you when I knew I was failing, and because I hung out with my friends instead of studying," Maggie sobbed.
"That's quite a list, little girl," Bob scolded.
"Yes, sir," Maggie admitted.
"Okay, then we best get started. I want you to pull your pajama bottoms down and lay over my lap, Margaret Anne."
Maggie did as she was told. Then when she was settled across his lap, Bob reached down and slid Maggie's panties to the floor. He raised his hand and began to spank her bottom hard. {SMACK!} {SMACK!}
Maggie jumped. It already hurt, and she knew this was only the beginning. It hadn't been that long since her last spanking, but it still surprised her how much it hurt.
Bob continued with his hand, until her bottom was nice and pink. {SMACK!} {SMACK!} {SMACK!} {SMACK!} {SMACK!} {SMACK!} {SMACK!} {SMACK!}
"You are in very big trouble, young lady. You got yourself in much too deep this time!"
"Yes, Daddy, I'm sorrrrry!" Maggie cried.
"Well, you will be when I'm finished with you," Bob said, reaching down for the paddle that he had brought in with him.
Maggie sensed that there was a difference in what was going to happen. And she knew it for sure when she heard the whoosh of the paddle and the loud crack that landed on her backside.
{CRACK!} {CRACK!} The paddle came down hard, over and over. Maggie knew this paddling was going to be one of the worst she had ever gotten. But she also knew that she had earned it, and was trying hard not to fight her father.
"The next time {CRACK!} {CRACK!} you find yourself {CRACK!} {CRACK!} behind in your {CRACK!} {CRACK!} schoolwork, {CRACK!} {CRACK!} you will come to Mommy {CRACK!} {CRACK!} or me, so we can help you. {CRACK!} {CRACK!} If we can't help you, {CRACK!} {CRACK!} we will find you a tutor {CRACK!} {CRACK!} or someone else who can. {CRACK!} {CRACK!} You will not ignore your studies {CRACK!} {CRACK!} for your friends. {CRACK!} {CRACK!} Am I making myself clear, {CRACK!} {CRACK!} Margaret Anne?" {CRACK!} {CRACK!}
"OWWWWW, yes Daddy! Very clear!" Maggie cried. She was already in a lot of pain, and didn't know how much more she could take. She wanted so badly to put her hand back to stop that dreadful paddle, but knew from experience, what a bad idea that would be.
"I am very {CRACK!} {CRACK!} disappointed {CRACK!} {CRACK!} that you felt you had to lie {CRACK!} {CRACK!} to Mommy and me, young lady. {CRACK!} {CRACK!} We have always been here for you, {CRACK!} {CRACK!} and have tried to help you. {CRACK!} {CRACK!} You will be grounded until your grades go up {CRACK!} {CRACK!} or until we feel you have earned back our trust. {CRACK!} {CRACK!} There will be no more long phone calls {CRACK!} {CRACK!} or online chats {CRACK!} {CRACK!} until you prove yourself to us. {CRACK!} {CRACK!} Understood?" {CRACK!} {CRACK!} {CRACK!} {CRACK!}
"Owwwwwww, yes, sir!" Maggie sobbed.
"Okay, then, this part of your punishment is over," Bob said, putting down the paddle.
Maggie just continued to lay over her daddy's lap, sobbing. Bob sighed and reached back to rub her bottom, which was now bright red. It had some purple splotches on it, and he knew it would be difficult for her to sit the rest of the day at least. He knew he had gone very hard on her, but felt it was for a good cause.
Finally, Maggie stood up and hugged her daddy. "I'm sorry, Daddy, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to let it get this far."
Bob pulled Maggie to him and held her. He rubbed her back and her bottom. He cuddled her for a while and reminded her how much he loved her.
"Maggie, Mommy and Daddy love you. We only want you to do well," he said gently.
"I know, Daddy, I'm sorry!" she cried.
Bob reached down and pulled Maggie's panties and pajama bottoms up slowly and carefully over her bottom.
"I'm afraid we're still not done with your punishment, Maggs," he said, pulling her up with him.
Maggie was confused until she realized where her daddy was taking her. He made her sit on the toilet. It hurt so much when her rear touched the seat. She jumped up at first but the look Bob gave her, made her sit back down real quick.
Bob took the soap and put it out to her. "You know better than to lie to us, Maggie. Mommy and I only want to help you. You must learn to trust us."
Maggie nodded as she opened her mouth. Bob inserted the soap. It had been a while since Maggie had her mouth washed out with soap. She forgot how nasty it was. After several minutes, Bob took the soap out and told her to rinse.
After she rinsed, she gave her daddy another big hug. "I really am sorry, Daddy, and I'm gonna show you how well I can do. Honest!"
Bob hugged his daughter back, real hard. "I hope so, Maggs, I really do hope so!”
