Many of you common lads and lasses know that drugs are terrible, I do hope you never do anything. Now what I'm about to tell you is not promoting drugs in anyway or suggesting that you should do drugs, I am simply giving you factual information that did occure in the "Beatles Years". I really DO NOT want to pull a John Lennon. Now if we may begin...
In the early sixities the lads met a chap, not just any chap, a remotely popular singer named Bob Dylan. This chap, Dylan was a BAD influence on our Lads. He indroduced them to the well known pot. At the time it was not illegal so most of the bands were taking it. You can not say that the Beatles were drugies. Yes actually you can, but they did not take it all the time. On the filming of "Help!" {one of my much loved movies} They were one the stuff most of the time. They had trouble memorizing their scripts, which of course did upset the film crew. Finally they got their act together {sort of}, and took the remaining movie seriouslly. Now, I think, personally Bob Dylan was a fine singer, but why did he have to introduce this SUBSTANCE TO THEM?!!! The lads wanted to have fun, but they didn't know better. John later recalled some people in Liverpool doing it when he was a little chap, but he never knew till he got older. The motion picture Help! is a fab movie by the Beatles and I enjoy it all the time. I didn't relize that the Beatles were on "the pot" when making it, but even after I found out, I forgave them and I watched it yesterday in fact.
I believe it was 1965 when The Beatles released Help! and Rubbersoul. In my opinion Rubbersoul is one of The Beatles better albums {George said that also}, Rubbersoul is also The Beatles Pot Album. In this album they began experimenting with new instruments. George began to have his "Sitar Days" and the band wanted a new sound. Paul and John got tired of writing all those "Love" songs, like 'She Loves You' and 'And I Love Her'. They began using new methods of song writing {which was when the pot kicked in} and the group began creating new sounds. George really came into song writing with this album. Now most of you are like "WOW, a pot album...I bet the songs sound terrible!" NO YOU FOOL! This album is great. Brittanie and I hate the idea of them doing drugs, but they never recorded a final sound on the album. One of my most prized songs {which was gifted to me by Brittanie} is 'In My Life'. That song is ONE of my Favorites, but if you are a dedicated Beatle fan, you have more than one favorite song. If you want to Learn more click on the Link entitled 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'. |
