HISTORY OF VOLPINE
Volpine originaly started out with three members, of which only one is presently in the band. But , after much swapping the band evolved into the one today. It started with Dave, Jonny, and Ed, drums, guitar and vox -respectively. Sam R then joined as guitarist and they played Hendrix covers. For some reason Ed left and we were left with three. After a while Jack White started to show off his drum skills to us and somehow managed to replace dave as drummer. When we started to develope we realised that we needed a bass player. So we asked our friend Sam P if he could learn the instrument and he agreed. He learnt quickly and soon we had arranged our first ever gig at the Uplyme village hall. But to play succesfuly we had to find another singer. So we asked Sam R's brother to sing.
After the gig we decided that we didn't want sam.r's brother to sing cos he allready had his own band. So we became a 4 piece again with Sam R himself singing. We had a few a few gigs after that but we were playing punk-rock covers and didn't appeal to us or the audience. In the summer of 2000 we started to write our own songs which were heavier and more original. It was also when Jonny lost interest and we all decided that he should quit. So we were a three piece for ages and got quite a few gigs at peoples birthdays in pubs and the like. All the way allong our style had been changing and developing, getting ever more heavy as our influences turned from NOFX and The Offspring to One Minute Silence, Tool and Skindred.. This when we chose our name. As far as i can remember Ed joined back again in 2002 and brought with him a great reggae and dub vibe. Instead of lead singer he played synth and keys and completed our sound. We wrote a load of reggae songs to counter balance the heavy side bringing a mix that a wider audiance likes. We played a lot of gigs for an event held in Bridport that attracts big audiences. We are currently trying to record a demo and eventually an album....
