Second Place - Amrit (PunjuKURI)
After getting married, Rahul and Anjali go back to their home in India along with their parents and baby Anjali. One day, Rahul comes to Anjali and tells her that he wants to go on a honeymoon, and it can be any place she wants to go. He names a few...Switzerland, France...but Anjali stops and thinks. She says 'Simla jaayenge'? (will we go to Simla?) and Rahul smiles, thinking of how they met there. So, their flight is off in 2 weeks. 3 days before their flight, Aaman calls Anjali's house and Anjali tells him how happy she is, and how sweet Rahul is. Aaman jokes around and Anjali tells him how they are going on a honeymoon. Aaman is happy for them and tells them to have fun. Anjali also asks him if he has any girls in mind, but Aaman just says no, but I'll be sue to tell u if I do.
Before leaving, Rahul and Anjali both hug baby Anjali and Rahul's mom, and then they are off. When they land, they go off to a hotel. While coming in the hotel, Anjali swears she sees Aaman in an elevator with a curly-haired girl. But she remembers that Aaman wasn't with anyone, so she just forgets it. Anjali doesn't end up liking her room, as their next to a mota next-door neighbor who can't stop singing loudly. So, Rahul transfers them to a scenic view room. Next-door to 'someone's'. Next scene, Rahul says he has to go somewhere. Anjali's confuse because Rahul doesn't even know anyone here. So she waits for him near the hotel pool. While she sits, she sees the Aaman look-alike guy again with the same curly-haired lady, except he was laughing with her, and they seem like they were more than friends. Anjali finally decides to go up, but there again she comes upon the mota neighbor and he blocks her view, and the Aaman look-alike leaves. She tries to tell Rahul, but can't find him, until she hears Rahul and a bunch of kids nearby singing 'Happy Birthday.' And she turns around and smiles and takes the flowers from Rahul's hand. Rahul grabs her hand and takes her to the gazebo where they just remember their memories, and then they run off for a walk. While they gaze upon the stars, and she's in Rahul's arms, and they talk the whole night to going to their hotel.
The next morning Anjali walks by in the hotel and accidentally bumps into this stylish, curly-haired woman wearing sunglasses. Her name is Kiran (JUHI CHAWLA!!!). They both say sorry, and Anjali wonders where she's seen her before. So, she decides to follow her but gets caught and Kiran asks her if she need help, but the curious Anjali asks her if she knows 'Aaman' and Kiran laughs and says 'of course, I'm going to meet him right now, as soon as I pick up my bag I left' so Anjali decides to make an appointment to meet Aaman and Kiran. The next hour, which is the pool scene, Kiran tells Aaman she wants him to meet someone, Aaman is curious but waits. He sees Anjali and then he tries to hide. Anjali pulls his hat off and says 'surprised'. Kiran is confuse and looks at Anjali as if she's more than a friend of Aaman's. Aaman finally greets Anjali and pretends that he doesn't know Kiran. Anjali ask him about Kiran because she says 'I'm his girlfriend'. Anjali smiles at Aaman surprisingly because she likes his choice. Kiran says 'what abut you?" and looks around. She sees Rahul who is coming towards her. Anjali points to him as Kiran says 'ohhhh' with her sunglasses on. Rahul greets Kiran and Aaman.
They all enjoy the evening laughing about Aaman's pagalpan. Since they know Kiran is now going to be part of Aaman's life, Rahul tells her about Tina and Baby Anjali. Kiran was thinking and ask him, 'Tina Malothra?" Rahul and Kiran talk to each other while Aaman and Anjali walk in to get something to eat. As Kiran speaks, Rahul notices a tattoo on her right arm 'Tina-Kiran best friends 4 life'. As Kiran looks at Rahul strangely, she takes her sunglasses and notices that it is that same Rahul. The same Rahul who Kiran knew, she just realize their past................Rahul's first love was Kiran, but on their wedding day Kiran left and Rahul never saw her again. And later he met Tina, and he knew Kiran sacrificed her love for Rahul, for her best friend. Rahul looked into Kiran's eyes. He had so much to say, but he was so emotional. Before speaking, Aaman came in and called it a evening. He had to drop of Kiran, and Anjali was waiting for Rahul in the hotel.
The next day Rahul woke up early, and told Anjali to meet him at the amusement park since she was waiting to go to because she had promised baby Anjali a teddy bear. Because of that, yesterday they all had made plans along with Aaman and Kiran. Rahul decided to go to Kiran earlier and talk to her about what had happened. So as he knew Anjali was off to the park, he ran down the hotel and caught a glimpse of Kiran. He grabs Kiran's arm and she turns around, but Aaman was right there. Aaman ask if Rahul wants to come along with them. Anjali sees them and catches up to them. Rahul has no decision but to go along with them. Anjali and Rahul had so much fun at the amusement park, even though in Rahul's mind he wants to speak to Kiran.
When they returned they found out there was going to be a huge evening dance in the hotel around 7. Anjali put her arm in Rahul's and said, 'Hum jaayenge?' (are we going to go?) and Rahul smiled and said 'of course'. He tells Aaman to just go to the ball and tell Kiran to meet him there. This way Rahul could get Kiran's attention, without being with Aaman. As the evening came, Anjali and Rahul came. Anjali looks beautiful in a light pink sari, and Rahul couldn't stop admiring her. As Rahul seese Aaman, he tells her to take Anjali in, and he would get Kiran. So Aaman smiled and took Anjali's hand and went in. In the meantime, Kiran was in her hotel room, not sure whether to go or not because she was nervous of seeing Rahul there. She got dressed, looking beautiful in a dark blue sari-length. As she steps out of her room, she bumps into Rahul. Their rooms were next-door to each other! Kiran just said 'sorry' and tried to move away. But Rahul whispered quietly telling her to come with him.
Rahul and Kiran went outside. He looked into her eyes, 'Kiran, tum aisa kyon kar rahi ho (why are you doing this), why won't u speak with me?' Kiran looks uncomfortable, and tells him how she was friends with Tina since childhood, and that Tina's dad had helped her family financially since her dad didn't have a good job. She could never find a way to make it up, and Rahul interrupted her looking mad, 'so you gave up your love?'. Kiran stared at him, and told him how she loved Aman, he was the sweetest most caring guy for her, and that Anjali was perfect for Rahul and only Rahul. Rahul understood what she was saying. There was nothing else he could do. He couldn't do anything for that was the past, and he couldn't change anything now. Rahul takes her hand, puts it near his heart and said, 'hum dost the aur ab sirf dost rahenge, khush raho apni nayi zindagi mein, Aman ke saath (we were friends and now we will remain just friends, stay happy in your new life with Aman), I'd like to see you happy and smile, like you always did'.
A loud thumping noise was heard outside, as they were footsteps moving away from the room......... Rahul ignored them and Kiran had teary eyes. She went back to her room. While at the party, Aaman got a little drunk and was joking around with Anjali while they were dancing. They move to the side, and Aaman was going to admire Anjali, he raise his cup and spilled it over his coat. Anjali tried to clean it up, but Aaman tells her 'wait here, let me change, I don't think you want to dance with a drunk smelling stud'. Joking around, Anjali sat at her table waiting for Rahul to come. When Rahul came he made a excuse that he met up with his old business partner,s and he was chatting with them. Anjali just replied, 'ab yahan bhi business kar rahe ho? (now you're doing business here too?) c'mon Rahul'. Rahul takes Anjali by the hand during a slow song and tried to cheer up her mood.
Meanwhile after Aaman came from his hotel to change, he wanted to check up on Kiran to see if she was ready or not. When he saw Kiran come down for the ball, she sees a strange look on Aaman's face, but thought he was just upset because she was late. They both smiled, and at the ball all 4 of them had a great time. Aaman's idea was to switch around Anjali and Kiran when they danced, so both of them could dance with each girl, but Aaman purposely for some reason keeps pushing Kiran to Rahul. At the end of the evening, Kiran was furious. She stays away with Aaman and asked him what was wrong with him. Aaman asked how she could keep such a big secret about Rahul since they were almost going to get married. Kiran found out Aaman had heard Rahul and her. She tells him and tries to explain that she only loved Aaman, and that she had sacrificed and forgotten everything about Rahul. But Aaman didn't want to listen, all he said was 'Mein jaa raha hoon, kahin door jahan maa hai' (I'm going, far way, where 'maa' is), and left from the room. Kiran didn't know what to do, she knew that Aaman didn't have a mom either.
By then, Rahul had explained the whole past event and everything to Anjali. Anjali who loves Rahul so much, understood, and knew that was the past. Kiran went to Rahul and Anjali's room and tells them that Aaman has left, and didn't know where he was, except he was going where his maa was. Anjali immediately remembered a flashback when she was engaged with Aaman, he had once told her and her mom, that he always felt like he sometimes felt alone in this world, but ever since 'maa' had come into his life she's been his everything. Anjali cries and tells Rahul and Kiran to hurry and go to the airport with her.
In a hurry while Rahul's car, Anjali tells Kiran and Rahul that he had probably wanted to go back to her mom's house, since her mom was the only women he ever called maa. As they all searched for him, Kiran finds Aaman. Anjali turns him around by his shoulder, 'hey, where do you think your going, apni favorite dost ko chod ke?'(leaving your favorite friend?). Aaman was upset, and tried to say something but Anjali explained that in life there's the past and future, you can't change what happened and tells him Kiran was the girl for him, and there was going to be no other. She also tells him, if you had such a close friend wouldn't you sacrifice your love, like what you did for me and Rahul? Aman then got quiet. Kiran, about to cry, says 'maine jo kiya mujhe maaf kardo, maine to apna pehla pyaar kho diya, aur ab mujhe nahin khona hai apna aakhri pyaar.' (Please forgive me for what I did; I already lost my first love, and now I don't want to lose my last love). Aaman looks at Kiran and she smiles and hugs him. Rahul put his arm around Anjali and says, 'Ab hum ghar chalein??' (now, should we go home?).
Back at home, Kiran and Aaman gets engaged. Rahul wouldn't stop teasing Aaman about his marriage life and teased Kiran about having kids. Anjali's mom jokes with Aaman that she thought she was Aaman's favorite woman, but he lied and got engaged to Kiran. Aaman gives her a little hug and says, 'you'll always be my favorite women, maa', smiling. Baby Anjali winks at Aaman saying, 'nice choice!', while admiring Kiran. Aaman was getting pushed by the laughing ladies at the sagai, towards Kiran, and she would just shy away while Aaman smiles. Anjali comes in, running showing everyone pics of their honeymoon. Rahul pinchs Anjali's sari, pulling her kind-of away from the celebration, he whispered 'yeh chodo, dekh nahin sakte kitna masti kar rahe hain woh dono?' (leave them, can't you see how much fun they're having?). Anjali turns looking at Rahul who is about to speak when he winks and says, 'ab mujhe bhi kuch kuch hota hai.....' (now something something happens to me too). Anjali slaps him lightly on the cheek and gives him a cute kiss on the cheek. Rahul looks surprise and says ' ab yeh to chotti si baat hai, oopar chalein?'(now that was just a little thing, shall we go upstairs?). He picked up Anjali while she was laughing and says, 'Love lives forever..... in sadness and happiness, learn to live with what you have'.
