Habana Club, 8/15/2003
!Salsa! in Puerto Rico, well I'm back. I had the
pleasure of listening to La Orq. de Don Perignon at Club
Habana in Santurce, 8/15/03. They performed absolutely
fantastic with lead vocal Melvin "Mel" Martinez, W.Gonzalez
and Meniquez also got busy with one of his songs "Para las
ninas y para las senoras. What a great show. To View

USA, I have had only a little exposure to the
South American Salsa Groups, some NYC Bands and
Cuban bands.

Maria Victoria
y su Latin Son "Asi soy Yo"
I saw them perform in Nashville
TN and in N. Charleston SC, this is a 6 piece
band that gives you a big band sound. Maria V.
has a great voice, and fantastic stage presence,
she really gets the crowd moving. This group
really gives you a feel of what a Cuban band is
all about. read

My previous trip to PR:
I started off by
checking out Club Habana in
Santurce, I
had a very interesting and enjoyable time at
this !SALSA! only club. The surroundings were
somewhat deceiving but it turned out to be a
great night of Salsa. The DJ plays old & new
!Salsa! the crowd gets there around 1 am and the
ladies dance very, very good (they like to give
a show with lots of fancy footwork, spins and
more). I was pleasantly surprised to find out
that there was live music that night with a
group named "Tiene Tumbao", they were awesome.
They have 3 ladies in the band playing timbales,
congas and bongos. They played three sets and it
was all great (of course photos will be posted
soon!).

played at the clubs that I have visited in GA, SC,
NC, TN, FL and so on.

I attended
the Eddie Santiago concert in Charlotte NC and
will honestly tell you that the location was
great,beautiful club, great service, great food, and a
great DJ. There was a problem with Eddie
complaining about the sound
system and not being able to hear himself which caused
him to interrupt the concert after a few songs....The
concert was delayed approx 1 hour while the crew worked
on the sound system....Eddie started singing again and
complained about the sound system several times,
however, he proceeded to sing some of his old songs
which somewhat alleviated the anxiety of the small
crowd.Overall, I rate the concert a 4 on the scale of
1-10.... Hope this does not disappoint you, it is my
honest
