CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Intro to Salsa & Mambo/NY Style, Parts A & B

The fundamentals and building blocks for creating a dance and enjoying salsa. Includes the basic steps and turns with simple variations for two popular styles danced in clubs.   Emphasis is given to timing, the lead and follow connection, and quality of movement. It is highly recommended that beginners take both A and B, and will often find it helpful to repeat part B before moving on to the intermediate level.

Intermediate NY Style Salsa (aka Mambo or "on 2")
Intermediate Salsa (aka "on 1")
More advanced turns are introduced as well as ways to combine turns. Lead and follow technique is refined. Additional emphasis is given to freestyle footwork, body styling, and musicality.
IMPORTANT: Each session of these classes has new turn patterns and footwork so you can repeat it many times and keep learning new material. It does, however, repeat some important basic technique that is very helpful to review and will improve your dancing.

NEW CLASS!!
Essential Technique, Turns, and Footwork for Salsa and Mambo
This class delves into the details of what you need to know to increase your confidence on the dance floor, feel connected to your partner, and get the most out of intermediate classes. It covers the fine points of lead and follow, timing, balance, musicality, and introduces spin turns. This class goes an extra 15 minutes to allow for addressing both "on 1" and "on 2" styles. Leaders can stick to leading their favorite style if desired, but it's a great class for dancers who want to have experience in both styles. Followers can get practice following both styles, a real bonus on the dance floor. FOR LEVELS advanced beginner through intermediate, or anyone who wants to improve their technique.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a class for those who want to learn solid technique and partnering skills. There will be lots of drills and exercises. Though you will learn some turn patterns, it's not about long patterns with lots of spinning.

Cross-Body Lead Clinic
The cross-body lead is the move that makes the dance! Sure, you may do it all the time, but make yours fantastic and instantly boost the quality of your dancing. Then learn styling and surprise variations that you can easily work into any repertoire or use to spice up your favorite moves. For levels advance beginner through intermediate.
