ASUKA
Dancer/Instructor/Radio Personality/English&French Language Teacher

Born in Tokyo, but raised in Europe, ASUKA experienced a multicultural environment while growing up, speaking French, English and Japanese. With her fascination with music and art ever since she could remember, she was totally mind-blown the first time she was exposed to Salsa.  She became absolutely amazed by it ,and the Latin culture surrounding its music and dance ever since then.

She currently owns her own Salsa school,
SALSA PURA where she teaches 3 times a week at various clubs in Nagoya, Japan.
Asuka is also known for her great moves and bodyworks, which are rare qualities in the Japanese Salsa World, and also by her spontinuity to dance wherever, whenever, with whatever music or beat (a true NATURAL!)!! Her motto in teaching is to show her students how to have fun, while moving the right bodyparts and to feel the groove of  Salsa and keep on loving it more!! She also performs monthly at CASABLANCA, a Moroccan restaurant, with her Nuyorican Congero, Tony. Also, known as a radio personality, Asuka hosts her own radio program "Beat of the Planet" on
Radio i (79.5FM) which airs every Sunday at 5:33PM.

Although Asuka started dancing Salsa with a Cuban instructor ON1, she has been making the transition to New York ON2 Style. She has made 2 trips to New York City this year, to learn from the BEST of BEST in NY: From Eddie Torres, Jimmy Anton, to Delille Thomas, and her most influential mentor, Nilda Borerro (of
NYM.O). Her goal is to absorb all the old, new, and great aspects of NY Salsa, not only through the dancers and dancing, but also from the Musicians and the old timers that REALLY make it happen.

She will be making her 3rd trip in August, 2003, in time to see the NY Salsa Congress and also train as much as possible, from all the great opportunities and events that NYC has to offer. She is also very excited to absorb New York Style as MUCH as she possible, so she can bring back the REAL groove of NY Style ON2 and pass it on to her students in Japan.
