PW
Studying in Pw was a very memorable experience. It was actually great spending
lunch time hanging around with friends doing all sorts of different activities.
I have made so many friends during these four years and each one of them
contributed some very unforgettable memories.
The first year was quite an exciting ride, getting to know so many different
people from different backgrounds, or simply different schools. Although the
many conflicts and problems were somewhat troublesome at times, the overall
experience was great. It was always fun heading into Friday and have our weekly
basketball games. I was almost always picked last, but the actual games were
pretty fun nevertheless. I still remember how Leslie broke both his arms (still
don't know how he managed to do it) and looking at him attempting to write
during class was very amusing.
I especially enjoyed reading the comments that were written on the yearbooks.
It's true that most of them are quite dry and boring (how much more simpler can
just writing "HAGS" be honestly) but some of them tend to be very interesting.
Some of them include the 豬事丁 one by Leslie, the dick with balls drawing by Jacky
Lo, and the weird arguments by various other people.
The best year in PW, however, would be the last year in grade 12. The grad
events were so unique and fun that everything that happened became so memorable.
That grad dinner that we had after the grad pictures was quite an experience
with many different side stories. Watching Steve fixing his hair every 2 minutes
was very amusing, and having different couples being played during the
activities just made it that much better. I remember how some people like Leslie
and Stan just laid low profile and ended up eating a truck load of roast beef.
The whole PWCC concept was actually very interesting. I still remember how it
all started out in our Art class with Michael Lau coming up with all these great
ideas that every one got so into it and gave their support to the project. The
whole PWCC gang was like a family, and we did so many different crazy and fun
activities together, from joining basketball tournament to having drinking
parties, BBQ, and hotpot at Elaine's house. Every time we went out and hang out
during the weekends we always ended up doing some pretty crazy stuff that made
each weekend so colorful. The time during mid autumn festival was quite an
experience, when we tried to play with fire in the middle of the Trafalgar
playground. Then it actually attracted the cops and what was more fun was the
way how we actually ran like little girls to get away (although we still got
caught in the end). Another time when we hang out in Trafalgar in the middle of
the night we ended up coming up with a prank and put the soccer nets in the
middle of the street just to fk with drivers. Those were some very fun times.
I actually went to browse the facebook site a few days ago and from looking at
their profiles and photos I realized that I have been really out of sync with
the group. I have never really hang out with them much ever since we graduated
and I really don't know everyone very well at all (although I really don't know
them that well back then either) I guess what I know about them is still stuck
at the PWCC period. Maybe they have actually changed quite a bit since then and
what I wrote about them don't really apply anymore.
Having been able to know the friends from PW is definitely something that I
really cherish. Many of them will finally finish school within the next few
years and hopefully they will be able to get into a path that they have always
wanted to go into.
Kevin Chan
Brian Lee is a very 小氣 and 記仇 person. For some reason I tend to remember very
well the times when Kevin jai picked on me during elementary school. But what's
past is past, and now I have let that pass by and have seen how great of a
person Kevin is.
Kevin actually has some quite interesting characteristics. For most times he is
actually somewhat 內斂, but at the right place and right time, he is usually the
one who becomes 最玩得 and the most explosive one. He was for sure the one to count
on to accomplish the craziest dares that you can think of; in fact I think that
he surpasses Michael Lau in this category.
To me, I personally think that Kevin jai is a very smart person. Out of everyone
in PWCC, he is probably the smartest of all. This can be seen in the ways he
play Infantry and basketball. I really believe that if he really applies this
wit in academics he'll be a very successful person in the future.
As much as a 剛強 person that he appears to be, Kevin jai is actually quite 溫柔. He
usually doesn't talk as much as others, but he is the most caring bro in PWCC;
well, maybe it's almost as comparable to David Lee but in a different way. Kevin
is also the most one-hearted person out of the gang. Of the many different times
that everyone has changed targets, he has maintained to stay with the same
person. To us we used to look at it as a loss cause, but somehow he still has
the perseverance to keep trying and waiting. Even after they finally became
together, he still remains loyal to just her after different conflicts (or so it
seems). This is something that I really admire him for.
I didn't really get to know Kevin as much as I hope that I could, but he is
definitely a person whom I am glad to have known.
Kelvin Chiu
Compared to the first ever time that I met Kelvin, he has changed a lot
throughout the years. I still remember how he was quiet and CBC-like when he
first came to Trafalgar. But then over time, he became more Honger than many of
us; I guess that's actually a good thing. Kelvin has a pretty well-rounded
personality; he is not as humorous like Michael Lau, as charismatic like Steve,
and as "girl-attracting" like Jacky, but he is probably up there as top 3 in
these categories. Usually Kelvin has a very good temper, but if you piss him
off, he gets really pissed and is someone that you don't want to mess with.
Tony Kan
I remember first meeting Tony Kan in Grade 6 and he was quite a funny guy. He
was actually wearing 底衫 like a T-shirt to school. And his hairstyle, the same
old one that did not change for over 10 years, and now that he changed it he
actually looks quite 型 haha. Tony Kan probably has the best temper out of the
gang; he would 呻 many times but you'd almost never see him mad or pissed. Tony
is probably also the most hard working person in PWCC; Stan Lai is up there, but
I guess he's not as hard working as Ton Gan. Whether it is because he's in
Engineering or just the way he is, Tony Kan would just study like crazy all the
time. One thing is for sure: Tony Kan can never look serious, everytime he tries
to look serious people would actually laugh, for whatever reason it may be.
Stanley Lai
The first impression of Stan Lai was that he is a quiet guy, but if you get to
know him well, you'd know that he's actually the most 火爆 person in PWCC. When he
is mad at something/someone, he would be really mad at it and verbally expresses
his disgruntlement. But in the same time, Stan is a very just person; if he ever
owes one favor, he'll quickly thanks and repays him, but if you ever messed with
him, you'll know that he'll get back at you sooner or later. Stan, like Steve
and I, are one of those "怕死" people who would back off at crazy pranks and dares
(well I guess Steve isn't really one, but sometimes he is). I still remember how
we ran like little girls the time during 中秋節 when the Cops drove up into the
Trafalgar gravel field, but of course what was funnier was that Steve was the
first one and the fastest one to flee haha. Stan and I are quite common as we
are both quite 優柔寡斷. Making up a decision would be the hardest thing to do for
both of us. I remember how we would just stand around and can't make up a
decision (I guess that's the PWCC culture) and eventually both of us would just
say fk it and go home.
I kind of feel bad for getting Stan hooked up to gaming. I remember how Stan
used to not game much, and ever since we bought him Counterstrike he got hooked
to it, and eventually when we got him to play infantry he got so addicted to
arena that he'd spend all day trying to grind skillups and killing noobs. But
then now that I saw him playing NDS all the time I guess it's not really just
our faults afterall haha.
Hubert Lam
Hubert is a cool guy. I just happened to finish browsing through some photos in
facebook and I just couldn't stop laugh when I saw 6 Huberts. That was just
priceless. It's more funny that even to this day Hubert is still the one being
picked on in the group. I hope that he has gotten used to it by now. Anyways, I
think of all the people in PW Hubert was actually the first one I met, during
the time when we were in the same TaeKwonDo class. It's kind of sad how the only
conversation I have with him is about computers, every single time too. It's
like every time we meet we could not come up with anything else to say.
Michael Lau
"永遠的幽默大師," I guess that's how I can sum up Michael Lau in one sentence. He is
definitely one of the funniest guys that I have ever met. His jokes and pranks
usually have no wit at all, but because they are so 無厘頭 it just makes people
burst out with laughter. There is certainly no limit as to what he can do or
outdo. Michael Lau is one who has really inspired me during Grade 12. From
looking at him and somewhat imitating him, I realize that there can actually be
a comical side in him, or at least that's how it seems.
David Lee
This is one interesting guy. I remember how there were many times he has fked me
over, especially the time when he hit my car at the SUCCESS parking lot and
ended up having to back him up when I had to argue with my parents. He flew me
airplane way too many times too, but I guess I could call it even after I ended
up doing the same thing to him later on haha. But all jokes aside, David Lee is
a very 義氣 and caring bro. He actually cares for people and tries to make
everyone happy; and this is especially true to girls too lol. I'd say that David
Lee is quite flower-hearted, but even so he is very 專情. When he had a crush on
someone, he would remain one-hearted to her the entire time and treated her the
best that he could. David Lee usually has problems dealing with 情緒 as he will
easily go into 頹廢 mode; nevertheless he can bounce back real quick and be his
same old self the next day or week.
I didn't get a chance to know David Lee until summer in Grade 11, but we became
pretty good friends quickly and I really enjoy the time hanging out with him
(unless he flew me airplane haha). Maybe one day you'll really get a chance to
play with car and mechanics haha.
Leslie Leung
"人生就是一個舞台;而你就是它的演員,因應不同的需要戴上不同的面具" I guess that statement was quite 震撼 to me at
that time during grade 8. But I guess coming out from Leslie's mouth it's not
that shocking at all.
I still remember the first time when I met Lesbo: it was during the cooking
portion of the home economics class when we were in the same table. At the time
I actually thought that Leslie was a CBC so I just communicated with him using
English the whole time; I guess he had the same thought on his mind and it
wasn't till much later that we found out we could both speak Cantonese. But it
wasn't until after the grade 8 retreat that I became very good friends with him,
although I have already forgotten the details. Since then he has become a good
advisor to me for all sorts of different things. I really learned a lot from him
throughout high school years and as much as being thankful for having him as my
partner for most school work, having him as my academic 假想敵 I really generated a
motivation to strive for high academic performance.
During my school years I really admire the success that Leslie had: a steady and
healthy relationship, good athletic talents, good social relationship with
people, academic excellence, etc. Afterall he has definitely earned it through
his hard work. The only thing that made me feel superior to him that time was
that I was actually better than him in Infantry (kind of sad isn't it); but
eventually this was certainly not the case as he also surpassed me in this
category. It was interesting how we actually got into a fight once, for some
really stupid reason in a basketball game; I guess it was a result of our highly
competitive behaviour. But the only thing that I did not like about Lesbo was
the time when he actually cheated during the Non-Fiction English class. I guess
it wasn't that big of a deal, we cheated many times before, one being the
multiple choice test in Makarenko's physics 12 class. I just find it mind
boggling how even Leslie have to cheat in a writing exam.
I actually think that Leslie was the one who might actually understand my 思想領域,
but it was certainly unfortunately we haven't really had a chance to sit down
and talk for a very long time. But I am really glad to have known Lesbo and it
had certainly changed my life.
Jacky Lo
It was actually a weird feeling, that when I first tried to write this piece, I
hesitated for a moment. I have actually known Jacky Lo for over ten years, but I
honestly don't know a whole of about him at all. I've known him since grade 5,
and my first impression of him was a very funny person who liked to come up with
weird jokes, the most memorable one having to do with 哥斯拉. He had a habit of
picking on people, from Calvin during Grade 5, to Tony Kan in grade 6, and
eventually Hubert and others. But aside from all the bullying, he is actually
quite a nice person. Most of the time his jokes were 點到即止 and will not 過火. Jacky
Lo is very good at making up catch phrases and coming up with pranks, especially
when coupled with Terry Mak.
I guess the funniest time I've seen Jacky was the time when we had a drinking
party in Elaine's house. He did some of the craziest things that you'd never
thought Jacky Lo would ever do. Too bad the videos were lost otherwise it would
have been fun watching it again haha. But then overall I like Jacky, he's a
funny and cool guy.
Terry Mak
Terry Mak, he is definitely that one and only person that I like and hate at the
same time. Other than him, I have certainly never met a person who would
relentlessly pick on me day in and day out, but then I already got used to it
and find them more fun than insulting most of the time. He is a big prankster at
heart, and would come up with some of the most ingenious ways to make fun of
people. I guess so long that you're not the victim you'll actually have fun
being a spectator of his pranks. To be honest, he is not the best person in the
world, but he's definitely not the worst either. Most of the time he is quite a
義氣 person and would help you out in situations. Of course he has helped me out
numerous times when I had my problems. Being a very good listener, he is someone
who you can turn to for talking about your problems.
Perhaps there are many times when Terry Mak disappointed me, but overall I never
regret to have known him and studied in high school together.
Jeston Suen
The first time that I met Jeston was actually during a gathering at my house
through our mothers. But we really didn't know each other much until the trip we
had to Oregon. I still remember how you'd go on saying how my name should have
been "Brian To" and so on. It was actually quite fun having Jeston sleep over at
my place, don't know why even when we really didn't do much.
Jeston is not as good in controlling his temper sometimes. I remember how he
would go into rage when he got raped in Infantry and yelled at all sorts of
things. Jeston has quite a flamboyant character, as he is very cool to his
friends as long as you don't piss him off. Really glad to have known him.
Davie Yip
I actually got a chance to know him way back in grade 4 when we went to the same
spring break day camp. What was so memorable about him back then was the time
when he had his bag stolen in the swimming pool in North Van, so he actually had
to go home in his swimming shorts and a towel around him. Being in Grade 8 was
actually quite an interesting and valuable experience, as it was the first time
that I had to deal with so many 人際鬥爭 between friends. It was actually the first
ever time that I was force to pick sides and isolate the other. Even so I was
then became forced to be the middle of the conflict between Davie and Lesbo and
made my stance so 尷尬. Davie was quite a good friend nevertheless; he actually
looks after people like a big brother and give people advice (whether they are
good or not). Having known Davie certainly gave me a lot of insight as to how I
need to handle social relationships in the future.
Steve Yuen
Steve is quite an interesting person. I have actually known him for over 10
years. I still remember that the first few years in elementary school were quite
fun and somewhat childish. We would hang out during recess and lunch during
grade 5 and come up with weird nicknames for people. I guess aside from playing
soccer and basketball the things that we did were quite stupid, but then we were
young afterall. The first few years in high school we actually didn't hang out
as much. But when I came back at grade 12 we as a group hang out quite often. It
was always fun making fun of Steve, whether it was about his hair style, or
finding some girl who looked just like her, or for whatever reason. However, one
thing is for sure: he is 好玩得; no matter what we do or try to make fun of him,
he'll always bounce back with some interesting comeback statements or actions.
Steve is kind of like a 大佬 figure in our gang. Although I think that he doesn't'
really have much qualities that distinguish him as one, he simply stood out in
the group as someone who will organize things and one who can be counted on. He
was pretty much the backbone of the group: without him activities we do just
wouldn't be the same. You can simply say that he gels the group together.
I would say that Steve has not changed much for the past 10 years. He is still
the same outburst and 貪玩 person that I've known since grade 5. Has he become
more mature throughout these years? Perhaps so, but I think he retains the
interesting "Steve Characteristics" that I am fond of.
Steve is definitely a great guy and I certainly hope that he can find someone
sane enough who can cope with him haha. You belong to the sky and one day you'll
fulfill your dream and soar up high.
