About Me
It was with shear chance that I got involved with Rug Hooking in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This form of art was more suited to my nature since I had an art education background in India and have always enjoyed working with my hands. Since 1981 I have been teaching traditional and tapestry rug hooking in South Florida and went into commercialization of my patterns in the late 80's prior to which I custom designed patterns for my students.
In 1985, I was invited by President Reagan to present a replica of the the Great Seal of the United States, which I had hooked as a gift to the country. The seal presently is on display at the Reagan Library in California. One of my works, "Cherub's of the Valley," was selected as one of the finalists in Celebration IV in Rug Hooking Magazine.
Having a background in commercial art and having been teaching the art of colonial rug hooking, I have been able to master the art of custom designing and color planning. My works have been published in Rug Hooking Journals as well as in Jesse Turbayne's "The Hooker's Art". I specialize in enlarging patterns or designing special projects such as your pets, homes, or any special requirement for the client. I can also supply kits of any of my
patterns and help in the color planning. All the wool is specially hand-dyed for the specific project and can match any color closest to the swatch sample. New patterns are created every year as a supplement to my catalog. Rugs or tapestries can also be made by me on commission. Send a check or money order for $10 (U.S.) for your catalog and supplemental catalog updates.
Exhibitions of my work and my works of my students are held every other year at the Pompano Civic Center in South Florida, in which over 100 rugs and tapestries are on display. This information is also available in Rug Hooking Magazine.
Most of my patterns, whether primitive or floral or oriental, can be hooked right from a number 3 cutterhead to a number 5 cutterhead. Some can even be hooked by a number 8 cutterhead, depending upon how much shading one would like to do.
