SHS Class of 1983 20-Year Reunion
Budget Breakdown
You may be wondering, $45 to attend a reunion--and no drinks included? Where does all that money go? To give you an idea, we're posting our preliminary budget. We planned on 100 people attending the reunion, which was the approximate attendance for the 20-year reunions of the Classes of 1981 and 1982. So the cost per person breaks down as follows:

$22.95  --Buffet dinner at the Crowne Plaza**
$ 4.13   --gratuity on dinner
$ 1.37   --tax on dinner

$ 5.00  --DJ

$ 5.00  --printing/binding of Class Directory

$ 2.00  --Invitation mailing (includes paper, ink, envelopes, labels, stamps)

$ 0.65  --Rental of projector & screen for slide show

$ 0.60  --Park rental for family picnic

$ 0.40  --Name tags

$ 0.30  --Membership to Classmates.com (needed to find more people)

$42.40 --TOTAL

** The Crowne Plaza does not charge a separate rental hall fee. Thus the buffet dinner price also covers the cost of booking the dinner hall.

The remaining $2.60 per person will be used to a) cover unforeseen expenses; and b) keep a nest egg to cover deposits for the next class reunion. (For this year's reunion, members of the committee "pre-paid" their registration fees in order to pay the $1000 deposit needed to secure the hall.)

We will plan to have updated copies of the budget available for you to review at the reunion itself. If we find we have grossly overbudgeted, or we have a much greater registration rate than forecast, we plan to find a way to compensate attendees. In any case, we want to keep our financial records as open as possible, so if you have any questions, please ask!

And remember, there are many things you aren't paying for: this website; the cost of collating and typesetting the directory; and most of all, the time and hard work the committee is putting into planning this event. If you'd like to help out, you can contact Diane (Parker) Telgen at
