Come and see what Nathaniel has been doing during his second year!

Nathaniel went to his first Easter egg hunt today.  I took him to one of the local parks that was hosting an egg hunting event.  He had such a good time!  We were early, so he had some time to play on the swings and the slides.  Then the firetruck showed up with the Easter Bunny, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and 2 other characters.  I took him over to see Clifford.  I said, "give the doggie a hug."  He just looked at the dog.  Then Clifford stuck his paw out.  I took Nathaniel's hand and helped him pat the dog's paw.  He got the cutest, biggest smile on his face.  He thought he was something special!  Afterwards we hunted for eggs.  He would run from egg to egg and then bring them to me and place them in the basket.  He had a great time!

Nathaniel has been counting along with me for a while now.  We always count while going down stairs, and he will help fill them in.  Today he was going down a little walkway we have between the yard and the patio.  All by himself he counted 1, 2, 3, 5.  He missed 4, but I think that is fantastic!  I'm so proud of him!

April 11, 2003

It has been far too long since I have updated this site.  Natahaniel has been doing lots of new things!  He said his first real sentence today!  Often times he will sit on the bathroom counter while I brush my hair.  As I was lifting him down this morning I said "down we g."  With perfect diction he repeated that sentence back to me!  My baby is getting so big!

Nathaniel was able to wear his new sandals for the first time last week.  He loves them and was so excited when I put them on his feet.  He giggled and ran around the house.  Then he started marching in place saying "trot trot" over and over again.  He gets that from the Teletubbies.

Nathaniel can now say his name.  He said it for the first time in the grocery store about 3 weeks ago.  He says "naniel."  It's too cute!

About 4 weeks ago we were burning brush in the backyard.  I took Nathaniel outside.  He saw the smoke and exclaimed "wow!"

Nathaniel was funny today.  We went to Burger King for lunch.  He kept taking the napkins out of the container and "cleaning" the table.  I love how kids have no inhibition. My roll on my sandwich looked tasty to Nathaniel.  He reached over, snatched my roll, took a big bite, and then put it back on my sandwich.  What a silly boy!

March 19, 2003

Nathaniel is learning his colors.  Today he was eating a yogurt that had a yellow flower on it.  He pointed to the flower and said, "yellow."  He can recognize letters.  When he sees a letter he says "B."  It's a start!  He is also filling in the numbers when we count.  He will usually say 2, 5, 8, and 9 along with me when I count.  He's so smart!

March 18, 2003

Nathaniel gave me quite the surprise today.  I made lunch and sat Nathaniel down to eat.  He started asking for something.  I didn't understand what he wanted so I tried giving him various things.  After a few minutes I said, "honey, tell me what you want."  He said "nigh night."  I said, "do you want to go to bed?"  He giggled.  I was thinking that he was being silly, so I took him out of his chair and said, "show me what you want."  He put his arms up over his head and lead me to his crib.  Poor baby.  He was too tired to eat!

March 17, 2003

Nathaniel is so funny.  He holds his finger up to his mouth and says "shhh."  He is now also saying please and thank you.  Nathaniel and daddy play "the game" together (Nintendo).  Daddy will say, "let's play the game."  Nathaniel will get all excited and set up his chair in front of the t.v.

The other day we did our grocery shopping. Nathaniel wanted to hold the mushrooms, so we let him.  The next thing I know, he managed to open the package was was throwing them one by one onto the floor.  He also knows that at the bakery he getsa cookie.  We were waiting for a cookie and there was no one there.  Finally we decided to just forget it.  We started to leave and Nathaniel protested.  Needless to say, we waited for his cookie.  Too smart!

March 10, 2003

Today Nathaniel and I were playing with PlayDoh.  We were rolling the doh into balls.  He picked up one ball, held it up to his eye and said eye.  He is such a funny boy and is always making us laugh!

March 9, 2003

Nathaniel said "I love woo" today!  Awww.  Melt our hearts!

Nathaniel is growing like a weed.  He is getting so big.  He had a dr.'s appointment last week and weighed in at 24 lbs. 13 oz, fully dressed.  He language continues to grow and he can recognize the letter B along with the letter A.  He can count to 3, and if you ask him what a sheep says, he'll say ba ba.  He will tell you what all the animals say.  My favorite is meow for kitty.  He says it in such a sweet little voice!
February 23, 2003

Nathaniel is quite the little sponge.  His vocabulary keeps growing, and he is able to follow simple two step commands.  His new phrases are "oh my" and "oh no." The other day he did the cutest thing.  I gave him a tast of dry oatmeal.  He tasted it and said "mmmmm."  I laughed so hard!  He liked it.  He kept coming back for more "bites."

February 10, 2003,

Nathaniel is having another word explosion.  He is saying so many new words that I can hardly keep up.  Some of his newer words are arm, juice, people, eye, ect.  He was so cute when he first said arm.  When we put on lotion after our bath, he likes to help.  I always put small drops on his finger and he rubs it into his belly.  I was being silly and put a big blob on his arm.  He laughed and I laughed saying "mommy is silly.  She put a big blob on your arm."  He looked at me with a big hammy smile and said "arm."

February 7, 2003

Nathaniel has activity time every afternoon.  Somedays we color, paint or glue, and other days we play with playdoh.  Each day, I write out A B C, 1 2 3, and draw squares, circles, and triangles on a seperate piece of paper.  I point them out to him and talk about each item.  Today he pointed to the letter A and said "a."  I was so surprised and so proud of him!  I asked him "what is this (while pointing to the A).  He said "a."  He can now recognize the letter A.  I'm so proud as I think that's pretty smart for 20 months old.  :)

The other day Nathaniel did another smart thing.  He threw away a piece of trash all by himself.  Nathaniel loves to rip up paper.  There was a stray piece of ripped up paper on the floor.  He picked it up and went over to the pantry where the trash can is.  I have a towel hanging on the door.  He used the towel to open the door, lifted the lid on the trash can, threw the paper in, and closed the door to the pantry.  What a good little helper he is!

January 31, 203

Nathaniel and I baked together for the first time this afternoon.  We made peanut butter cookies to take to a friend's house. Nathaniel stood on a chair and poured all the ingredients into the bowl.  He used the beaters as drum sticks on the counters and opened the silveware drawer and stuck forks into the batter.  We had so much fun!

January 26, 2003

This afternoon I gave Nathaniel a piece of cheese.  He then did the cutest thing.  He sat down with his stuffed kitty in his lap and held the piece of cheese up to it's mouth.  He was trying to feed his kitty some cheese.  How sweet!

January 19, 2003

Time for a BIG update on Nathaniel.  So much has happened since his website was last updated.  Nathaniel is saying lots of new words.  His most recent word is "beep."  Everytime he hears something beep, he says "beep."  Some of Nathaniel's other new words are bye, baby,  teacher, moose, and open.  Nathaniel loves to wave goodbye and to blow kisses.  Often times when we say, "I love you" he will respond with a blown kiss.

When we took our Christmas tree down, Nathaniel was a very good helper.  I would hand Nathaniel an item, and say, "take this to daddy, please."  He would walk down the hall and hand it to daddy with a big smile.  Then he'd come back for the next time.  He looked so cute and so big helping.  Almost made me cry!

We had a very good Christmas. Nathaniel was very spoiled by everyone.  His favorite gift is his vacuum cleaner.  He plays with it all day long!  He enjoyed opening up some of his presents.  He had a lot and got bored (or wanted to play with what he just opened).  He was very cute and would rip little pieces off at a time. He likes ripping paper!

On the plane ride out "home," the lady sitting in front of us had a fur coat.  The coat was stuck between the side of the plane and the seat.  Nathaniel kept rubbing it and saying, "kitty."  It was very cute!  On our trip back home, there was baby in the airport.  I said to Nathaniel, "say hi baby," and he did!  We were very surprised!

December 15, 2002

This afternoon I wanted to wash the wood floor.  Del took Nathaniel into our bedroom to play so he wouldn't slip on the wet floor.  I heard him playing with the baby monitor soI went into his bedroom and talked to him through the monitor.  I told him, "I loooove you" and made a kissing sound.  I was on my way out the door when I heard Del over the monitor.  He said that Nathaniel kissed his hand and placed it on the monitor.

After I was done moping, I went into the bedroom and sat on the floor to play with Nathaniel.  He walked over to me and I thought he was going to give me a hug.  But instead, he left his hands by his side, moved his face towards mine, and puckered his lips for a kiss.  How sweet is that?!

December 14, 2002

We had milk and cookies with Santa today at our playgroup.  It was so adorable.  First we had story time and then Santa came in.  When Nathaniel first saw Santa, he got a smile - not a big one, but a little curious one.  His eyes were glued to Santa.  When it was Nathaniel's turn to sit on Santa's lap, he did pretty good.  He didn't cry, but he looked a little concerned and reached for me saying "'arng arng arng."  It was so cute!

Afterwards, the kids sat around a little child sized table and had milk and cookies.  Ms. Ann gave all the kids little sippy cups with no stops in the lids.  Nathaniel was shaking his so the milk would come out.  I wiped up the mess with his napkin.  Then he shook more out, took the napkin, and wiped it up.  What a good helper he is!

Nathaniel also started a cute new "trick" today.  He learned that he can turn around and run in circles.  Very cute!

Nathaniel had his 18 mo. checkup today.  He weighs 23 lbs 4 oz. and is 31-3/4 inches tall.  The Dr. says he looks very healthy.

December 5, 2002

Sometimes we play a game with Nathaniel - a different twist on chase.  I will hold Nathaniel and we will run away from Daddy chanting, "you can't catch us."  Nathaniel LOVES this game.  Today we were teasing daddy saying, "you can't get us, na na na naa-naa."  After a few times, Nathaniel started saying "na na na."  It was so adorable!

December 4, 2002

We got our first snow of the season today!  Nathaniel has seen snow before, but he was only 7 months old, so it was a first all over again.  He loved it!  When he woke this morning, I opened the door and showed him the snow.  He got the biggest smile on his face.  Too cute!  After breakfast, we bundled up and went outside.  He liked being in the snow.  He didn't like to fall in it and would whine for me to pick him up.  For whatever reason, he didn't want to stand by himself.  When it was time to come inside, I opened the door and stepped inside the house.  I wanted to take off my shoes and then lift him up the step - was trying to save the floors from snow.  I took of my shoes and reached for Nathaniel.  He ran the other way!  I said, "Nathaniel, it's time to come inside."  He just looked at me with these adorable rosey cheeks.  I said this a few times with no "luck."  Finally I said, "bite" and that got his interest.  However, he still didn't want to come in.  I said, "do you want a cracker?"  He came right to me.  I had to lure him into the house with a cracker - laugh!!!!

December 3, 2002

We decorated our Christmas tree last weekend.  We got most of it done while Nathaniel was sleeping.  We were able to get all but a few ornaments and the candy canes up.  While we were trying to finish it up, Nathaniel grabbed an ornament and threw it on the tree braches.  He was trying to help.  What a little sweetie!  He then helped us hang the candy canes.  He would put them on the branches.  A couple of them feel just right, caught a branch, and were hung.

Nathaniel is becoming very affectionate.  We always rub or pat his back when we give him hugs.  He is now doing it back to us.  It just melts our hearts!

Nathaniel is singing "we-we-we-we-wee."  I'm not sure where he learned this, but it's adorable.!  One of Nathaniel's new favorite games is "tug of war" with the dog.  He picks up the dog toy and holds it out for the dog.  Lucy will grab hold of the toy and gently pull.  Nathaniel alwasy breaks out into a fit of laughter.

We had a bottle of soda left over from Thanksgiving.  I finished it off today and left it on the edge of our counter.  Mr. long arms managed to get ahold of it.  He had a lot of fun playing with it and was quite the site.  He kept putting the bottle in his mouth and holding the bottle up in the air.  I think he was hoping for some leftovers.  :)

Nathaniel is starting to kiss!  Yesterday we had some errands to run.  I keep a soft kitty in the car for him to play with.  When I handed it to him, he starting laughing and then started to kiss the kitty!  My heart just melted!  It was so sweet.

At bedtime tonight, I told Nathaniel to give his daddy a kiss.  He walked right over to him and gave him a nice kiss!  Then I got one too!  It was wonderful!  Such a sweet boy!

Whenever Nathaniel is thinking of doing something he knows he's not supposed to do, he stands with his hands behind his back.  He must think it makes him look innocent.  It is very cute!

Today at the grocery store, Nathaniel was fussing while sitting in the carriage, so I decided to hold him.  He was getting heavy to I set him down for a minute.  He grabbed on to the front of the carriage and helped us push it through the store.  He looked so adorable!

October 20, 2002

Today I swept the bathroom floor and then leaned the broom against the kitchen wall because I wasn't done with it.  Nathaniel took ahold of the end of the broom and dragged it back into the bathroom.  Then holding the end (the broom was sticking straight out (see 16 mo. pictures)) he moved the broom back and forth across the floor.  It was so funny and so sweet!  Mommie's little helper!  :)

Today we went to Toys R Us for some ideas on what to get Nathaniel for Christmas.  Del had Nathaniel and was looking at something and I was playing with the car seats.  After  a few minutes, I hear Nathaniel's voice.  I look over and see him carrying a box that is about 1/2 the size of him.  Del had put Nathaniel down so he could walk around.  At his eye level was one of those robot dogs.  He got all excited, walked over to it, and tried to get the box off the shelf.  Del got it down from him and he kept saying "doggie" over and over again.  Since Del didn't have the heart to put it back on the shelf, the doggie came home with us.  Nathaniel picked out his very own toy at the toy store tonight!

October 18, 2002

I discovered that Nathaniel can crawl up stairs today.  We don't have stairs in our house, so I wasn't sure if he could do this or not.  I was holding his hand and helping him walk up the stairs at the gym (the nursery is upstairs).  About 1/2 way up, he sat down and crawled the rest of the way up.

Tonight I asked him if we wanted to take his tubby (bath).  He looked at me and said "tubby" for the first time.

October 10, 2002

Yesterday Nathaniel had the sweetest reaction to daddy coming home from work.  I always make daddy's homecoming big and exciting.  The dogs let me know when Del is home, so I scoop up Nathaniel and we skip to the door singing, "daddy's home, daddy's home..."  Well, when Del came home, I told Nathaniel, "daddy's home."  He got all excited, threw the toy he was holding, and ran over to me laughing to be picked up.  We went to the door to wait for him and he was peering out the door looking.  He was also pushing on the storm door handle.  It was so precious!  I wish daddy could have seen it!

Monday night Nathaniel managed to get a piece of food on his fork and he ate it.  We were very excited and praised him.  However, we thought it was a one time fluke.  But, last night he did it twice!  Way to go, Nathaniel!

Nathaniel is starting to ask us for more snacks.  Yesterday I gave him a few animal crackers from the pantry.  Once he ate them, the walked over to the pantry door, pushed on it, and whined for more food!  He did that again today!  How smart!

October 8, 2002

Nathaniel's new word is "getle" (gentile).  We are always telling him to be gentle with things - especially the kitty.  He repeated it to me today after I said it to him (he was "patting" the kitty).

Nathaniel is such a little ham.  He is a big copycat too!  He does everything we do.  His newest thing started a few days ago.  If we say, "arms in the air" he puts his hands over his head and has the cheesiest smile on his face!

September 30, 3003

Today Nathaniel started to do the cutest thing.  (Well, we think everything Nathaniel does is cute.)  We have a video tape called "The Wiggles."  It is a tape of singing and dancing.  One song is about kids jumping on the bed.  When one child falls off, a doctor jumps on the screen and says, "no more Joey's jumping on the bed" while shaking his finger back and forth.  Nathaniel now shakes his finger back and forth whenever the song is on.  He will also shake his finger back and forth whenever we do it or sing the song.

September 24, 2002

Today we went to the apple orchard with Grampy Tim, Grammy Anne, and Auntie Carloline.  We had so much fun.  They had four baby goats in a corral that you could feed.  They all stuck their heads out of the corral when they saw us coming.  Nathaniel got so excited when he saw them and walked right up to them saying, "doggie, doggie, doggie."  I told thim that they were goats, not doggies.  But he was insistent that they were doggies.  We wasn't at all afraid of the goats - not even the teeniest hesitant.

Nathaniel had the best time feeding and petting the goats.  Grampa put some grain in his hand and held it up to the goats.  He loved that and giggled away.  After a coupel times, he learned where the food for the goats was and would walk up and grab a handful.  He would hold it out for the goats and drop it once the goat reached out for it.  He didn't quite get the concept, but it was so cute how he was bringing it over to the goats.

After a little while, he discovered the goats water tank.  He tried his hardest to get his hand in there, but he couldn't quite reach it.  It was hilarious watching him try.

September 17, 2002

Nathaiel was very proud of himself this evening.  He learned how to pour water out of a cup in the bathtub.  He kept filling and pouring the cup - laughing the whole time.  Several times he poured the water on his face (not intenionally) and just laughed!  I love this age and love watching them learn and make discoveries.

September 15, 2002

I took Nathaniel to the park today.  At the park, there is a plastic car that is about 12 inches off the ground that rocks back and forth.  Today he learned how to climb in and out of the car.  He was having lots of fun climbing in and out of it.

September 14, 2002

We had a great time at the parade today.  We went with our friends who have a daughter that is Nathaniel's age.  The parade was a little over 2-1/2 hours long.  It was by far the biggest parade we had ever been too.  There were over 30 marching bands, lots of fire trucks, floats, ect - lots of new things for Nathaniel to look at.  Nathaniel got some candy, a bead necklace, and a flag pin from people in the parade.  He also had his picture taken with the apple mascot.

After lunch we went over to the carnival part.  Nathaniel rode on the carousel with daddy and the dumbo ride with mommy.  He loved them.  His favorite ride though was the cars.  It was these little cars that went around in a circle.  Adults could not go on it, so we sat Nathaniel and Brianna side by side.  Nathaniel had the biggest cheesy smile the whole time (as did Brianna) and was "driving" with the wheel.  It was soooo cute!

September 13, 2002

Nathaniel went to his very first parade today.  This week in the town next to ours is the Apple Fesitval.  Tomorrow is the "big" day and the big parade, but today was the smaller parade held for just the kids.  It was so cute.  I took Nathaniel and he loved it!  He really liked watching the fire trucks and police cars go by. He also really liked the marching bands and the waving flags.  WHen the kids marching with their dogs cmae by, he got all excited and was saying, "doggie, doggie" over and over.  Too cute!  Afterwards we cooled off by sharing and ice cream.

This afternoon I cut up some apple for Nathaniel.  He was eating it and also feeding me some too.  One time he bit off 1/2 of the apple piece off and held the ohter half out to me.  I just melted and thought, "how sweet he wants to share his apple piece with me."  Right before he gave it to me, he suddenly popped it in his mouth.  The little STINKER!

September 12, 2002

Nathaniel had his 15 month checkup today.  He weighs 21 lbs 14 oz and is 30 inches tall.  The Dr. says that he is very healthy.  While at the Dr.'s office, Del and I were tapping our feet as we waited for the nurse.  Nathaniel was trying his hardest to tap his too.  He was bouncing at his knees and smiling away.

Today Nathaniel learned to take his diaper off!  I guess this means that he will have to wear either shorts or pants from now one!  We don't need any messes on our floor!

Nathaniel is learning lots of new things and his vocabulary is increasing each day.  Yesterday he and daddy were reading a book about things you find on the farm and he said "tractor."

August 30, 2002

Nathaniel loves to play with oven mitts.  Whenever I give him one to play with, he gets all excited. He puts it on his arm and runs around the house laughing.  Future chef?

Nathaniel is a becoming a little copycat and copies everything we do.  He is running now as well.  It's so cute to see him get excited over something and take off running.

August 28, 2002

Yesterday Nathaniel did the sweetest thing.  I asked him if I could have a hug.  He walked across the room, wrapped his little arms around my neck, and gave me the best snuggle.  :)

Nathaniel LOVES the kitty.  "Keytey" (kitty) is Nathaniel's favorite word.  Yesterday we were looking at a book about animals that you can find on the farm.  We turned to the page about cats, and Nathaniel got the biggest smile and said "keytey."  He did the same thing today with a cartoon cat in another book.  He is a smartie.

When I was in 7th or 8th grade, the "cool" way to wear overalls was by leaving one of the straps undone.  I think that Nathaniel is trying to bring back this hideous fashion statement.  Today he was wearing a pair of overall shorts that has velcro on the straps.  He kept undoing the left side and letting the strap hang.  I would fix it only to find it hanging again in a matter of minutes. I finally gave in and let him wear his straps the way he wanted.  What a silly boy!

Nathaniel can now crouch down to pick up an object and stand back up.

August 22, 2002

When I dropped Nathaniel off at the nursery today, he was the only child there.  When I picked Nathaniel up the sitter said that Nathaniel had been very quiet.  After about 20 minutes, a little girl about 2-1/2 came into the room.  Nathaniel looked at her, got all excited, and said "hi" (he says it "hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii")  After that, he didn't stop talking!  Guess he wanted a playmate.
_______________________________________________________________________

August 20, 2002

Nathaniel is basically walking full time.  The only time he crawls is if he falls down.  Then he crawls to the nearest wall or object and pulls up and continues on his way.  He will also crawl if he is in the middle of the room and wants a toy.  He hasn't quite figured out standing up on his own, but he is very close.

We have 1 step between our kitchen and our living room.  He can't quite walk down that step yet.  Yesterday he figured out that if he sits down on the step, he can then stand up and continue on his way.  Today he was walking and fell down into a crouching position and stood back up for the first time!  He is doing an amazing job with his walking!

Now that Nathaniel is walking, he is finding lots of new "treasures."  The drawer that holds the tupperware and measuring cups/spoons is right as his level.  He is constantly opening the drawer and removing it's contents.  I am forever picking them up!  He also loves to shut doors.  If we are in the bedroom, he will close the door.  When I open the fridge, he closes it for me.  He is my little "helper."

This evening after I undressed Nathaniel for his bath, he "ran" away from me and took off around the house naked.  He looked really cute because he had his arms in the air as if he was saying, "yippee, I broke free!"

August 8, 2002

Nathaniel rode his first amusement ride on toy today at the store.  It was a horse. He LOVED it!  I held him on the horse and when it started "galloping" he look a little surprised and then he got a huge grin on his face.

In the past week or so, Nathaniel has become a big snuggle-bug.  He has never been a big snuggler - even as a newborn.  When you tried to hug him, all you got was a stiff arm to the chest.  He was much too interested in what was going on around him.  Lately though all he wants to do is snuggle.  While you hold him, he is constantly snuggling up to your shoulder for a hug. He will often crawl over to you and want up just so he can give you a hug.  Talk about melting your heart!  :)

August 7, 2002

It all finally clicked!  Nathaniel is walking!  Nathaniel has been taking steps here and there for about 10 days.  This evening, Del was "practicing" with Nathaniel by getting him walking and then letting go.  Nathaniel would take about 4 steps on his own before losing his balance and falling.  Then he took about 10 steps.  After that, it all clicked in his head and he was off and walking across the room.  A couple of times, he stopped in the middle of walking and stood perfectly still and then resumed walking.  He also let go of furniture and walked away.

Nathaniel has been running behind his push toy for about a week.  Tonight he actually was running a few times.  He has been capable of walking and running for some time now, it just needed to all click in his head!   He is going to keep me busy.  With a few more days of practice, he will be walking full time!

July 27, 2002

Nathaniel took his first steps this afternoon!  He was walking behind his push toy and it was "stopped" by the couch.  He took about 4-5 steps between the toy and the coffee table!

July 25, 2002

It seems like every day, I realize that Nathaniel understands something new.  He is just developing like crazy in terms of language and what he can say and understand.  Just this week, he has started to say these new words - kitty, hi, and yah.  He says "yah" with perfect diction.  It is so very sweet!

Last night while bathing Nathaniel, I said "It's time to rinse your hair.  Lie back" like I do every night before I rinse  his hair (and then I lie him back).  To my complete amazement, he flung himself backwards.  Thank goodness I had my arm there to catch him.

July 22, 2002

Today Nathaniel and I were playing a bubble blowing game.  I was blowing bubbles and he was popping them.  When he got bored of chasing the bubbles, he wanted to hold the bubble wand.  I dried it off real well so there wasn't any bubble solution on it, and gave it to him.  I was still holding the open container of bubble solution.  He put the wand into the bubble bottle (it didn't go far enough in to actually get any solution).  Then he held it up to his mouth and made the sound that I was making to blow the bubbles.  He figured out that I put the wand into the bottle and held it up to my mouth and bubbles came out.  He just couldn't figure out how to blow them out.  What a smart boy he is!

July 20, 2002

Brianna came to play with Nathaniel today.  Nathaniel was crawling behind her, and all of a sudden, he grabbed onto her shorts like he was trying to pull them off.  Then he tried to push up her shirt.  We were all laughing hysterically!

July 18, 2002

Today in the bathtub, Nathaniel took one of his rings and placed it on his wrist like it was a bracelet.  He then held his arm up for me to see.  He had the sweetest expression and little smile on his face.  He was very proud of himself!

Nathaniel has a new "schuffle." When he is holding something and wants to crawl a short distance, he will scoot along on his bum.  It is the cutest sight!

Nathaniel is becoming a little "scrapper."  Today I peeled myself a peach and sat down to eat it.  Nathaniel took one look at my plate, whined, and ran-crawled over to me for a few bites.  I think it's funny that he already knows what a plate is, and he didn't want to be left out!

He is also starting to "test" me.  He knows that he isn't allowed to touch certain things, such as the glass door on the entertainment center.  I will see him walking towards it, and I will say "No, Nathaniel."  He will stop and look at me.  Then he will touch it and look right at me to see my reaction.  Often times he will look at me to see if I am watching, touch it, and look right back at me to see what I will say!

Nathaniel is so sweet.  Today I asked him, "can you say momma" and he said "mumma."  Awww.  It just melts my heart!

"Num num num."  During the past week, this is what Nathaniel has started to say while fussing/crying.  It is very cute.  He repeats it over and over again.

After my shower this evening, Nathaniel was fussing, so I went into his room to comfort him.  I picked him up, gave him a hug, and rubbed some baby oragel onto his gums.  It was then that he noticed my hair was wet.  Nathaniel was fascinated with my wet, cold hair.  He got the biggest smile on his face and kept touching and batting my hair.  It was too cute!

Nathaniel has quite the personality.  He does the funniest things and is always making us laugh.  Tonight at dinnertime, I gave him his sippy cup of milk.  He took it and drank it by holding onto it with his mouth, not using his hands.  He looked hilarious because all you could see of his face was the blue cup sticking straight out.

Today I was unloading the clean dishes out of the dishwasher, Nathaniel crawled over and pulled up on the open dishwasher.  He looked into the dishwasher and stole a spatula out of it.  He then proceeded to crawl around the house and "try" it out on everything - including poor Lucy.  Of course, his idea of "trying" out the spatula is whacking things with it!  He really had a great time with that spatula.  I tried taking a picture of him with it.  Everytime I tried, Nathaniel would move away from the camera.  I think he was afraid that I was going to take it from him.  He was leaving me NO chance to take that spatula away!

Nathaniel was so cute in church today.  During one of the songs, while Daddy was holding him up high, he started dancing!  He was watching the priest and the choir and started to wave his hands around while shaking his head from side to side.  He was entertaining many people around us.

Nathaniel is now doing two really cute new things.  On Sunday, while eating breakfast, he figured out how to clap the "right way."  He has been clapping for months, but he would clap by hitting the tops of his hands - one after another.  It's so cute to see him clapping the right way.

Today - again while eating - he figured out how to cover his face with his hands and play peekaboo.  He has been playing peekaboo for some time now by placing an object (clothing is his favorite) over his head and pulling it away.  Now he is placing his hands over his eyes.  When he pulls his hands away, I say "peekaboo" and he gets the biggest smile and laughs away!

Nathaniel is just beginning to enjoy a game of "chase."  I love to chase him while he is crawling, and he likes it too - often breaking into a fit of laughter.  He is also starting to enjoy a game that I played with  my nieces.  When he starts to crawl away, I say, "where are you going" and grab him and pull him back towards me saying, "get back here."  He laughs like crazy!  He is starting to really enjoy mommy/baby games.  It's too cute and lots of fun!

Daddy's teach babies the most wonderful things (note the sarcasm).  The other day, Del was outside with Nathaniel and he spit.  Nathaniel tried his hardest to spit too.  He went "pssstt" and this big thing of drool ran off his chin!

Nathaniel has his one year check-up today.  He weighs 19lbs 9 oz, is 28.5 inches in length, and his head circumference is 46 cm.  The dr. said that he looks very healthy!
