The City of Salem Fire Department is a progressive department in a growing community in north central Arkansas.  The department serves the City of Salem, and a 5 mile area around the city.  The department provides fire protection, rescue, EMS, and Hazardous Materials response capabilities.

The department is made up of 18 members, 2 commercial pumpers, 1 mini-pumper, 1 rescue unit, and a 16 ft HAZMAT trailer.   The station is located just off the court square on North Main Street, in the city municipal complex.  The department is currently an ISO Class 6 rating, which we hope to lower to a Class 5 rating in the very  near future.

The department responds to an average of 95 calls per year, with rescue being the most active unit.  The city of Salem has mutual aid agreements with all surrounding fire departments and about half of the calls are outside the city limits.
