| Description: | Belinda has black hair that falls to her shoulders in perfect waves. Her eyes are blue. Her face is pretty, especially if she smiles, but she doesn't do that very often. Her clothing is top-of-the-line and perfectly tailored to her. |
| Personality: | Belinda was raised to be a proper pureblood lady, but the Pierce blood of her great-grandfather runs too strongly in her veins. She has a violent temper that is easily sparked, and will more often than not result in her challenging the offender to a duel. She despises mudbloods and muggles as a matter of principle, but will ignore this principle when it comes to playing Quidditch. On the Pitch, blood doesn't matter. There are good players, and there are pitiful players, and she will assault the ones who get in her way.
Her loves are Quidditch, flying in thunderstorms, duels (particularly ones where she can stomp the opponent's feet or bite them - physical assault is so much more satisfying than magical), the song 'Yesterday' (not that she admits this), and drawing. Her hates are mudbloods in Aether, slights or insolence to her or her family, failure, discussion of marriage, and tedium. |
| Family Life: | Belinda has one sister, Melinda, who is four minutes younger than her, but one grade level behind due to the fact that those four minutes made the difference between September first and September second. Both sisters try to pretend that this difference of birthdate means they are, in fact, not twins, but just sisters. This theory is betrayed by the fact that they look exactly the same. The easiest way to tell them apart is to stand them next to each other and insult their family. Belinda is the one who will challenge you to a duel.
Belinda's mother's name is Bettina, and she is a proper pureblood lady. She hosts splendid parties, knows all the news (news, to Bettina, means whom is betrothed to whom), and eagerly awaits the day when she can plan her daughters' weddings. Belinda's father is Malcolm Pierce, which makes her a part of the New Hampshire Pierces. This pureblood clan is unique in several ways. Firstly, the head of the family, Derwent Pierce the First, had been born into a dirt poor, if noble, family. Derwent was singlehandedly responsible for raising the family into the highest wealth circle in only seven years. (He did very well with the California gold rush in 1848-1854.) Though no one ever mentions it, the Pierces, for this reason, are considered to be relatively new money. The other thing that sets the Pierces apart is the two week reunion every August. During this time, every decendant of Derwent I gathers at his mansion on Mt. Pierce. For reasons unknown, he has a regulation sized Quidditch Pitch on his property. His fourteen great-grandchildren took this and their number as a Sign, despite that fact that none of them believe in Divination. Every last one of them, girl or boy, is Quidditch obsessed to some degree. They divided themselves up into two teams and play perpetual no-fouls Quidditch over the course of the reunion, breaking only between games for grudge duels, meals, and sleep. The two teams are led by Amelia and Darius. Amelia's is known among the adult Pierces as the 'black sheep team' while Darius's is regarded as the 'proper Pierces'. The three worst black sheep on Amelia's team are Amelia herself who insists on holding a career instead of marrying and beginning a family; Derwent III who was disgracefully Determined into Caelum rather than Aether and is widely regarded as 'a little troubled in the head due to too many bludger hits in the head'; and Belinda Pierce who is far too inclined toward loosing her temper and fighting dirty than a young lady should be. This tendancy of Belinda's was not helped by her father who, instead of punishing her for her outbursts, instead taught her how to fight physically and encouraged her to seek duels. It is commonly believed among the Pierces that this was a result of Malcolm's despondancy upon discovering his wife could bear no more children and he would never have a son. |
