Replacing a section of drain pipe (if the old drain has a small hole in it you can use a pipe repair clamp) ( For Galvanized or cast iron pipe) Do not run any water while making the repair 1. Cut the old drain pipe about 2" from the fittings where it connects 2. Measure the old section of pipe you removed 3. Cut a new piece of pipe about 1/2" less than the old pipe 4. Place No-hub couplings on both ends of the new sectiom on pipe.slide the stainless clamps off the rubber part of the couplings and fold the rubber back on both ends of the new pipe. 5, Place the new section of pipe back where you made your cuts and unfold the rubber to connect the new and old pipes together. 6. Slide the stainless clamps back over the rubber part of the coupling 7. Using a 5/16"nut driver, socket or open end wrench tighten the stainless bands 8. Run some water and check for leaks (check diagram on bottom of this page) ( For a copper drain line ) 1. Cut out the bad section of pipe 2. Cut a new piece of pipe a little shorter, clean and flux ends 3. clean and flux slip couplings and slide over pipe(flush with pipe ends) 4. Clean and flux both ends where you cut old pipe 5. Place new section with couplings back where you made your cuts. 6. Slide couplings back over old pipe(half on old pipe and half on new pipe 7. Solder both ends of couplings. 8. Run some water and check for leaks (click how to solder project on the home page)
